4 weeks post c-section..... has anyone else done this?

I have to agree with the others. It just isn't worth the risk. I don't even liek going to Wal Mart with very young babies because people are so rude than think they have a right to touch or peek in on little babies.
Every birth is different. I can tell you when I had my daughter, I bounced back much quicker than I did 5 years later when I had my son.(age 26 and 31) Even when you are still relativly young, age takes a toll on your body. You can't really judge by how things went 6 years ago.

At 4 weeks, I wouldn't do to WDW. One pregnancy/delivery doesn't guarantee that all will be that way. 1st one-gained weight and after nine months-had a c-section baby. No problems. 2nd and 3rd - preclampsia. 3rd - tests every week to make sure things were okay.

I still say no, even given the extra info you provided.

Do you forget how utterly exhausting newborns are? HOW do you think you will have the energy to go through the parks all day on no sleep? THAT alone is going to make your recovery much harder.

And, the second c-section is not always easier to recover from. My second c-section was WAY harder to recover from. I had severe bleeding (clots) that wouldn't slow down, even in the hospital. My uterus was having a problem clamping down, unlike during my first surgery. And, my second child was a voracious nurser, and I can't even go into how badly my chest hurt for a good two months, due to how rough he was when he latched on.

I am all about the Disney parks with babies, just not at 4 weeks. We live 15 min from Disneyland, and I took my first son at 4 months, and my second was 8 weeks old his first time, because that is the SOONEST I think a baby should be in a theme park. He was in the Bjorn or stroller the whole time, but it was also very cool and non-humid weather. I wouldn't have done that in the summer...

You mentioned that your mom would stay in the house with the baby, but how will that be fun for her? And, YOU need to be there with the baby at that age. What if you have a super clingy newborn who won't go with your mom? My second son was like that. It was mommy or NO ONE. He is still like that at 4 years old...

You are really pushing it here. You are not going to enjoy this trip and it can be dangerous for you.

I agree with all of the others. Chances are you will not heal as quickly with the second one as you did with the first one.

You really shouldn't be traveling until you have had your post-delivery appointment with your OB-GYN and they give you a clean bill of health. Those follow up appointments usually don't occur until 6-8 weeks.

If you doubt our advice ask you doctor if he/she thinks you should be traveling 4 weeks after having a c-section.

My second CSection was the bad one. I would highly advise against it. Totally not an enjoyable experience IMO.

my second c section was also much harder to recover from...much much harder.

My 2nd csection was a more difficult recovery than my first, and I had major complications with my 1st. It was just much more difficult to recover while taking care of my other child AND the new baby, and it made it take longer.

I also had 2 c-sections. The first one was a BREEZE. I was out of the hospital by 48 hours and had no pain killers after 24 hours! I felt fine, but that aside, I was still exhausted from being up all night and breastfeeding, etc. And I was weak from losing all the blood. Could I have done a day at disney at 4 weeks, maybe, but I wouldn't have wanted to. Would I have wanted to do a weeks worth of parks... NO WAY.

With my 2nd one, my 2nd baby was over 2lbs heavier than younger sis. My incision was 2 inches longer, and there was scar tissue as well. The pain was WAY worse. I had severe pain for several weeks, that got much worse when up and around doing stuff (which I had to with a 2.5 year old), but no way could I have imagined doing even a day at an amusement park. I ended up having retained placenta (the doc left some placenta inside me) and I ended up having to have a D/C after the heavy bleeding didn't let up for several months.

The reality is, you don't know what complications you might have. And even if things go perfectly, that just isn't the right time and could reverse healing. You only have once chance to heal right, take advantage of it. There is no going back.

And, sorry, but no offense, I couldn't imagine leaving a newborn with another family member at that age. Maybe for a couple of hours if necessary (say for doctor appt or funeral or something), but not for all day, for several days in a row. It isn't good for the bonding process that is still going on between mom and babe, and would be terrible for the b r e a s t f e e d i n g relationship.

Wait a few months, let baby grow a bit and you heal a bit, and then enjoy!

Good luck

Can you reschedule the trip a few months out so you'll be rested, healed and be better able to enjoy the kids and your mom can be in the parks too?

I've had 2 sections, the 2nd was more difficult (that was my twin pregnancy with hemorraging).

A few months post-op, I had an incisional hernia resulting in a major surgery again. Not sure if less activity would have helped avoid it or not.

I wouldn't as it doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun to me. My c-section went well but my friends (also her first) developed an unforseen infection that had her bed ridden for months. I'd think if you pushed the trip out a bit you'd enjoy it a whole lot more.

Sorry I didn't mean for there to be a 'thumbs down' icon. I must have hit the button when multitasking.

I am five weeks pp, and I didn't have a c-section. This is my second child, and I am just feeling "normal" again. I don't think it is a good idea. The germs are a whole other concern. A fever before 6 weeks would be a nightmare! I was debating on going with a three month old. I think it is in your best interest to put off the vacation. Sorry to be a bummer but the post I have read agree. I would hate to see a magical vacation turn sour. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
