Day 6, Mon 2/19, another gorgeous day, high of 80
We ate donuts in the room before heading down to the Hospitality House to be picked up by Mears. the bus was right on time & we had a great driver. The 4 of us split up as we entered City Walk. Sleepy & Happy headed to islands of Adventure, and Doc & I headed to Universal. First ride for us was Hanna Barbera with about a 15 mintue wait. Tip: as you are getting to the point of entering the building, pay attention to the line to the left. A huge bunch of people just kept going to the right queue, and Doc & I were able to walk right in ahead of about 20 to 30 people by going to the left. fun ride! Then we went to ET, but we'd just gotten in line when there was an announcement that the ride had broken down. We were going to wait, then decided to get a fast pass & catch the next Animal Actors Show. So we got our fast passes, but then found out that Animal Actors was closed! :(

We then went to Back To The Future which always kind-of scares me. There was no line - we walked right in - I couldn't believe it. I enjoyed this ride this time the best I ever have. It just didn't seem so jerky this time. Then we just had to try the new Men In Black. There was a 30 minute wait, but we wanted to ride it together, so we decided to wait. It ended up being a 45 minute wait, but what fun this ride is. I had a blast! when your vehilce gets spun, it is SO funny. Next, we walked over to Jaws, and once again walked right on. After that, we ate lunch at Richter burgers. Their burgers are very good. Then we checked out the King Kong line - but it was 45 minutes, so we kept walking. We wanted to do Alfred Hitchcock, but realized we needed to do ET before our fast passes expired. So we did ET, which has always been one of my favorites, but I was slight disappointed in it this time ... has it changed? After this, I really wanted to do Men In Black again, & doc agreed, so we went into the singles line, and were on the ride within 5 minutes. it was so much fun! Doc was in the venichle that mine was going up against, and I just loved shooting at him! My venichle beat his & I raised my hands in victory -- I had scored 205,000 points to his measley 120,000! :D

Then it was time to head over to NBA City to meet Sleepy & Happy. We had agreed to meet at 3:00 and try to swap our passes. We weren't sure we would be able to do this, but thought we would give it a try. The kids were waiting when we got there, & they had been having a great time at IOA, & were anxious to try Men In Black. We agreed that if either of us were not let in, then we would go back to NBA City & wait till 3:15 for the other 2 to come back. If they didn't, then those 2 would know that the other 2 had made it in & would have to amuse themselves for 2 hours. (Mears was picking us up at 5:30.)

While at IOA, Sleeepy & Happy did Spiderman, Hulk, and ate at the comic Strip place. They saw a lot of characters: Dudley Do Right, Popeye, Olive Oil, Beetle Bailey, & woody the Woodpecker. They also rode the Fire coaster and The Cat In The Hat. They did some shopping, posing for pictures, & bought Happy's mother & me a great picture of themselves that a photographer took at the entrance. Also, Happy told me that while waiting in the Spiderman line, they could see that Spiderman was out front posing for pictures & she wanted to get out of line to go see him, but Sleepy didn't want to lose their place in line. And he also told her that Spiderman would probably still be there when they got out. Was he? Nope. :(

Doc & I headed over to IOA, walked up to the turnstiles, & we were let in with no problem. We headed over to do Cat In The Hat first & waited 15 minutes for our couch. What a cute ride. Next, we had to go endure the Spiderman line because we HAD to do that ride. We waited 35 minutes - which I guess wasn't too bad; and it went quickly because I got out my little notebook & wrote a lot of notes for my trip report.

Spiderman was GREAT this time. No problems, everything worked right. last year, we got stuck on it for 20 minutes  This is such a fun, fun ride. After Spiderman, we had time to ride Storm Force Acceleron, where doc ran into someone he knew - a guy he went to high school with. After that, it was around 5, so we decided to head out of the park. We slowly walked back to the Mears bus stops, & about 10 minutes later the kids came along. They had not problems getting in, & had rode Men In Black two times - both times in the singles line - and both times ended up side-by-side in the same vehicle! They also rode Jaws, Stopped for milk shakes at Mel's, went to the Lucy tribute (Happy LOVES Lucy), & saw Scooby Doo.

Mears had overbooked, so were given a taxi ride back to OKW. We went swimming & into the hot tub for a brief time, then headed back to the room to change. We had BIG plans for that night --- Cirque du Soleil! :D Sleepy had bought tickets for Happy as a Christmas present, & Doc & I just COULDN'T let them go without us! We took that wonderful boat over to DD, & then got off and Doc &I got hotdogs from a cart. Sleepy & Happy decided to walk further to McDonald's, so I gave them their Cirque tickets so we could meet them there. After Doc &I finished our hotdogs, we went back to the boat dock, & took the boat over to the West Side. (Love those boats!)

Then it was Cirque du Soleil. Doc & I got some popcorn; then about 10 minutes later, the kids came in. I gave them some money for snacks & then about 15 minutes later, the show started. It is, as everyone either know firsthand or has heard about, indescribable. It gives me chills, it chokes me up. You have to see it, experience it, for yourself.

After the show, I bought Happy the program, (with Sleepy saying "I accept gifts too, you know" ;) ) and Doc bought me a t-shirt. We walked to the West Side bus stop, jumped on our bus, & then were back to OKW & bed. It had been a great day.

Tomorrow: another no-park day of rest

Its too bad Spiderman wasn't there but at least you had some fun. :) I know you are looking forward to some rest tomorrow.

Thank you all for your replies - you make me feel so good! Sherrie - please try to get the Cirque tickets! It may not be too late. Just be open as to when you can go during your trip. I called 2 weeks before our trip, & took the President's Day Show @ 9:00 p.m. I wasn't really sure that's when we wanted to go, but I was just so happy to get tickets, that I grabbed them. And that timing was perfect: mid-way into our trip. (My son would have been furious with me if I hadn't been able to get them, since he'd given tickets to the show to his girlfriend for Christmas. He didn't actually have the tickets of course, so he made up pretend ones & wrapped them in a box.)

We absolutely loved IOA! What a fantastic park - and Spiderman was so much fun. I was so excited to go to Cirque on our last trip - but it closed down for the week when we were there last. Oh well, hopefully next time!
