Day 4, Sat 2/17, high 70's, sunny, little rain in afternoon, breezy & cool at night.
Today was a day off from the parks. Everyone slept in, except Doc, who went to the pool early. Once we were up, Doc & I took that wonderful OKW boat to DD, and ate lunch at the Wolfgang Puck Café. I bought a couple of postcards at the Art of Disney, John bought Jodi a Pooh beanie that he thought she'd like, and then we headed to the West Side to meet Sleepy & Happy at the Virgin Megastore. We probably wandered around in there for an hour. Doc & I wanted to get back swimming, so we tried to take the boat from the West Side over to the Marketplace, but that boat doesn't run until 4:00. As much as we wanted to take the boat back to OKW, we really didn't feel like walking all the way over to the dock, so we simply walked to the West Side bus stop, and took the bus back to OKW.
Sleepy & Happy were staying at DD to get something to eat. They went to Forty Thirst Street, and checked out the shops at Pleasure Island.
When Doc & I got back to OKW, we changed and once again went swimming, and relaxed in the hot tub. It did rain just a little bit while we were in the hot tub, but it lasted only a few minutes.
Sleepy & Happy took that wonderful boat ride back to OKW; however, it rained a little harder there than it had where Doc & I were, so they got a little wet on the boat.
We went back to the room and found Sleepy & Happy there. Doc gave Happy her Pooh which she was happily surprised to receive; and Sleepy looked puzzled saying "I accept gifts too, you know." There was a knock on the door, and 2 CM's were there with more balloons and another card from several characters for Doc's birthday. Boy, he was treated special! We all decided to go play miniature golf at Winter Summerland. One of these years, I'm going to finally learn that it just isn't worth it to play there with the problems we have getting OUT of there. Disney should really do something to improve their transportation problems with that place. Anyway, we asked and found out we had to take a bus to Epcot, and then the transfer to the All Star Resorts bus. We did that, and then had to wait for the driver to go to Sports, Music, & Movies before we got dropped off at WS.
Finally, we arrived, and we played on the winter side because the summer side was more crowded. We had a great time; it is a great, fun course. Then we headed back down to the bus stop.
While we were waiting, I took note of the time. It was 8:20. Well, we waited and waited. We were trying to be patient, but what's worse is that it had cooled off, and turned windy, so we were a little on the cold side. Did I say a little? Finally, a bus came. We didn't care where he was going as long as he would take us somewhere. His destination was Epcot. L We told the driver that we wanted to go to DD, because our plan was to eat at Planet Hollywood. So after arriving at Epcot, the driver told us to go right over and catch the Caribbean Beach bus that was sitting there. He told us to get off at the first bus stop at CBR (which was Jamaica), and then catch the DD bus from there. He told us that would be our quickest route to DD. Well, we did as he told us, BUT, at the Jamaica bus stop, we waited, and waited, and waited some more. We were cold, and the more a bus stopped in front of us, the more frustrated we got - every imaginable bus came except DD. We must have seen 10 "special" buses. I finally used a phone at the bus stop to call bus transportation. The woman told me she would report it. I waited another 10 minutes, and called her back. She told me she had found out that the DD bus broken down, and they had sent out a replacement. Finally, a DD bus appeared, and by then, all Doc & I wanted was to get back to OKW. So while we got off at DD, Sleepy & Happy stayed on the bus to get off at the Pleasure Island stop, and they went to Planet Hollywood on their own. Doc & I had to once again, wait and wait for an OKW bus because it was too late to catch a boat.
Finally, our bus came, we got off at the first stop in OKW (there are 5), grabbed some milk at the General Store, ordered a pizza at the house phone, and then headed to our room. We arrived back there at 11:00. The realization that we had spent 2 hours and 40 minutes just getting back from WS was a little on the depressing side. I resolved that next trip, WS is OUT - Fantasia is IN! Ironically, the kids got home just ý hour after us - after very much enjoying Planet Hollywood. They had caught a bus immediately. What a difference it can make in time, if the buses are working in your favor, instead of against it. On the plus side, the pizza was delicious.
Tomorrow: Animal Kingdom, MGM, & Fantasmic
