Day 7, Tues 2/20, sunny, then overcast, high of 82
Today was another no-park day. We slept late. Doc went to the pool around 10; then I joined him around 10:30. I brought some laundry to do while I was there. This worked out good. We were glad we went to the pool early, because by mid afternoon, it had become a little overcast.
We got a lot of sun today, which was what we wanted. Around 2:00, we headed back to the room, changed our clothes, and once again headed down to the boat dock for that beautiful boat ride to DD. (Anyone tired of hearing me say that?) We decided to go to Planet Hollywood to eat. We had a coupon for first available seating (we didn't need it); and also a complimentary Cap'n Crunch chicken appetizer. This is normally $7.95. We both ordered turkey clubs, split the chicken appetizer, & also split a salad. It was a delicious meal. The turkey clubs were very good - & I was so glad that I decided to order that. (Thanks to Happy because she had gotten it the other day when she & Sleepy had gone to PH, & she brought back to the room what she couldn't eat ... & it had looked so good, Doc & I just had to order it.) I couldn't finish my sandwich, so I asked for a container for it.
After leaving PH, we headed over to the World of Disney to do some shopping. As I brought some souvenirs to a counter, we decided to look further. The CM told us to leave our things there ... I had my Disney Club card in my hand; but within 5 minutes, I couldn't find it anywhere. Doc & I searched & searched for it. I knew that I must have set it down on a shelf somewhere ... I kept retracing my steps. Finally, we went to the CM who had set our things aside & told him what happened. I described the card telling him it was the new one since the Magic Kingdom Club card had been replaced, & that it had the 7 Dwarfs on it. I was very disappointed with his response. He said, "Well, I'm not saying you didn't have it, but I never saw it." And he walked away from us! I was so surprised at the tone of his voice & his "it's your problem" attitude. His name was Alan from Florida and I thought he must have missed out on the Disney PR course. I wasn't about to give up on my card after talking to him, so Doc & I kept looking. A CM in the next area, Nora from Puerto Rico, noticed us looking around & she was SO nice. She was concerned, & helped us look. Then she called a manager to help us. I had made up my mind after talking to Alan that I wasn't going to buy the souvenirs from him if he wouldn't give me the 10% off. But Nora was so nice, she did take the sting away - at least she acted like she cared! Anyway, the manager was very nice; she asked me for my name & where I had used the card last. Then she was on the phone, & filling out a form. Suddenly, Nora was tapping me on the back, & smiling, & she asked me what my name was. I told her & she proudly handed me my card. A customer had turned it into another CM, & Nora overheard the conversation, & then brought the card to me. Nora made me so happy! (Yea Nora
Boo Alan
)
We used the resort delivery service, which is a great perk, & after finishing up, even though we weren't hungry, we just had to stop at Ghirardelli's. We had never done this on our previous trips, & had promised each other that this time we would. So, we decided to split a hot fudge sundae. Mmmmm, good. We sat outside in those noisy chairs & relaxed while we shared it.
We stopped in another shop on our way back to the boat dock, & I found an adorable Donald Duck small stuffed animal that talks when you hit his chest. (a little different, huh?) He says, "Hey what's the big idea" & then he makes that funny sound that Donald makes. And the other saying he says is: "oh boy, oh boy, oh boy." He also shakes! He is SO cute. I thought it was just perfect for Sleepy - he's a Donald Duck fan. (Now Sleepy won't feel left out anymore in the receiving gifts department
) It is so hard to find something cute like that for a teenage boy - I was so happy to have found it.
We then went to the boat dock, & of course, took our wonderful boat back to OKW. When we got back to our room, the kids were getting ready to go to Fantasia Miniature Golf & the Boardwalk. (They had been taking it easy all day - swimming & laying by the pool; they also went to get lunch from Good's To Go, & brought it back to the room to eat. Happy was disappointed that it had become cloudy by the time she went to lay in the sun.) Before they left for Fantasia, I gave Sleepy his Donald duck & I think we was very impressed. Doc & I decided that we had to do something, so we went back to ride that wonderful boat, & rode back to DD; then transferred to the boat to Dixie Landings. Doc had never seen DL, so I wanted to show it to him. We walked through the lobby & there was a wedding reception going on in the bar area. We then took the boat back to DD; then transferred back to the boat to OKW for the last ride of the night at 9:40. It was very relaxing. (We do love those boats!)
When we got back to OKW, we decided to get an order of nachos to split, & then took them back to the room. We watched TV for a while before the kids came back, & then it was lights out.
Tomorrow: Epcot, MGM, ESPN Club
