4 night Wonder - dinner dress code

At any point will my DH need a tie and jacket or will open collared shirts and dockers be appropriate for all dining rooms?

Also, capris or a skirt and a blouse will be okay for us girls? Dress for Tritons?

I would definiatly bring at least a sport jacket that you could wear with a collared shirt and dockers. Though it is not strictly enforced you will feel more comfortable when eating at Tritons or Lumieres since they ask that attire be semi formal (sunday best) attire. Sadly there will be your typical trash that enividably will show up in shorts and t-shirts. Sometimes they are turned away sometimes not but most of the dinner guests will be dressed well and those underdressed folks will be mostly a spectacle for others to talk about. The other restraunts have a similar dress code but are noticibly more laid back and dockers with a collared shirt are more than sufficent attire.

Same rules apply for the ladies, Sunday best for Tritons or Lumieres and semi casual for the other restaraunts.

I feel it is better to be over dressed than under dressed. Have a good trip.

Thats kinda what I thought, I just wanted to be sure. Dont worry, my family has been told under pain of death not to try and go to dinner dressed in play clothes!

Pain of Death! That seems a bit extreme but I suppose I understand.

You will likley get a good laugh when you see some of the cruisers that can not read or choose not to read, try to get seated in Tritons or Lumieres. Last time I was there there were relativly strict in those restaraunts and some of the customers trying to get in wearing beach attire get so angry when they are turned away. It is a sight to behold. I truly hope your family has a great trip. Best wishes.

I noticed that dinner on the Wonder was more relaxed than on the Magic. Dockers and a collared shirt will be fine. So will capris, a skirt, etc. Unfortunately, there are always those that wear shorts and a tee.

We dressed up (long silk dress for me - "casual" long silk dress, if you can imagine such a thing, sportcoat and tie for hubby). Our tablemates had on nice clothes, but no sportcoat for him. (She always looked spectular - one of those women who would look "put together" in the clothes she paints her living room in). I didn't pay too much attention to give an accurate count, but it didn't seem to me that our tablemate stood out without a jacket or that my husband stood out with one.

If you want to "dress up" do so, it is requested on your Navigator and mentioned in the documents, and it is a lot of fun. If you tell your server the night before that you "didn't bring a jacket, so you are just going to eat at the buffet" like our tablemate, you will be "scolded" and told to show up in whatever you have - the Tritons menu is not to be missed and they don't care if you didn't bring a jacket.

I wore a skirt both nights to AP, a dress to Tritons, and "tropical feeling" capris to Parrot Cay. We "themed" our dress for the dining room, because it was fun.

I just wore a nice shirt and a pair of Dockers. Did not feel out of place at all. Some were more dressed up and some even less (but no jeans or beach attire). I am however taking a Sport Coat on our 7 day Magic Western cruise. Enjoy your cruise whatever you decide. - Mike

excellent. I am not sure H has a sport coat, just suits and I would rather not pack one of those if I can get away with it. DD and I are set, he was the only one I wasnt sure about.

Oh, I forgot to mention Palo. If you plan on eating there at all you will definiatly want the sport coat, possibly even a tie. Otherwise you should be good to go.

We just got off the wonder. I wouldn't bring a sport coat for hubby, unless you plan to have dinner at Palo. It definately isn't needed at Triton.

You know.....I have been on 6 Disney Cruises and I honestly cannot tell you what anybody else wore in the dining room.

When I go to dinner, I concentrate on myself and my family. I am not there to make fun of what other people are wearing or to be the fashion police.

Maybe if more people paid attention to their own families and less to those around them, the world would be a nicer place.

Just my opinion of course.

Unfortunately I think that's the problem. People aren't worried about others, there think they can do what they want, when they want and however they want, regardless of everyone else.
If people would STOP and THINK about others, we'd have less problems with one another.

Well that was a nice comment. While I don't spend my time analyzing other peoples clothing while dining on the boat, it is prudent to note that the dress code and rules that all of the dining rooms have established are for the mutual benefit of all parties involved. It is part of the ambiance of the cruise dining experience, espically at the more upscale restaraunts, to dress approrpraitly while dining. It is sad to see a family or couple come to the dinning area dressed in casual or beach clothing only to cause an ugly scene and make other guests uncomfortable.

I am glad someone had the courage and decency to ask questions regarding appropriate dress while dining on board. I believe that it will enhance their experience while dining on the cruise. I believe it is necessary to be aware of the established dress code and rules or the dining area, and if that means addressing individuals who choose not to do so in this post than so be it. I would rather be a good example to my family, friends, and fellow cruisers than turn a blind eye and say nothing when my children ask questions when they have to dress up for dinner and the slob next to them is trying to get in the restaraunt in a tshirt and shorts.

Quite frankly I don't care what others choose to do while dining so long as they pay attention to the rules and dress code. To me it is almost the same as cutting in line at the park. It is disrespectful to others and causes unnecessary problems. Mabey if people thought about the well being of others and were not so selfish to think of only themselves the world would be a nicer place. Think before you speak and be respectful of other people.

Didnt mean to start a problem. I asked the question because I expect myself and my family to dress appropriately for dinner. While I would hate anyone to cause a scene, if the family next to me chooses not to follow the codes, that is their decision.

We have never been on a cruise and I am preparing to pack. I dont want to over dress or under dress. But, I guarantee you I would rather have on something a little more dressy than others than track sand through the dining room because I didnt feel like changing.

You did not cause any problem at all, quite the contrary in fact. I think it was good of you to ask. I wish more people would ask questions like yours. It not only helps you to have a more plesant cruising experience but gives you other valuable incite that could have been missed otherwise.

I apologize if my strong worded post offended you. I am just glad you asked the questions you did, people like you are a pleasure to travel with. My comments were not directed at you but at another naieve individual that was not thinking about anyone but themself.

I am fairly sure that dinner, while I am sure it will be excellent, wont be the highlight of our vacation. I really appreciated all the answers here.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. IMO, I want to dress according to the requested dress code, but I wont look down my nose at those who dont. (unless they are still dripping wet from the pool )

How can what others dress in add or subtract form the dining pleasure? It makes no difference to me what people dress in as long as they are dressed....lol If someone wants to dress in shorts who cares, my chesecake is still going to taste the same.
