4 night vs. 7 night

New to this board and looking for some advice....

We have not done a Disney cruise in over 2 years, and are hoping to be able to do a 7 night cruise on the Magic this fall (late Oct or Nov). Realistically, we may only be able to squeeze in a 4 night on the Wonder due to school, work, etc.

Other than the obvious differences in ports and the number of nights, what other things would we miss out on if we did a 4 night instead of a 7 night? For example, it appears on the 4 night we still get the pirate party.

This board is a font of information -- wish I had found it sooner!

Rest, rest, rest. When we did the 4 day a few years ago it felt like we were rushing to do everything. We did the 7 day in March and it was glorious having days at sea etc. I would never go back to a 4 day. On the other hand, it might have also been because it was our first cruise ever and we felt compelled to do it all. If it's your second cruise, it might be different for you. Also, the ports on the 7 day were better IMHO.

Just to add one more thought to consider...the 4 Day runs Sunday through Thursday which means 4 days away from work/ school. The seven day is Saturday to Satuday which is only 5 days away from wor/ school. For a little more $$ and one more day off it is worth it!!

We did a 4 night 4 years ago and are going again in late Oct.

I REALLY want to do a 7 night (planning to rebook onboard for the extra discount and credit).

The reasons that I'm still dreaming about the 7 night might be the same things you might miss on the 4 night so here goes:
Character breakfast
Formal dinners
PJ parties for kids with characters and other events for kids in clubs
Easier to schedule Palo w/o missing dinners or pirate night
More sea days to enjoy the ship
Perhaps a double dip at CC (my DH favorite part of the cruise I think)

Hope that helps. I still LOVE the 4 night don't get me wrong. I would take that over nothing at all in a hearbeat!

oh, thanks for the info. Nope when I did my 7 day Eastern back in '03 we only went to CC one time on the Friday before we came back on Saturday. Think it is still same way.

You won't be sorry for doing the 7 day. On the four day you are just starting to get really relaxed, and then it is time to go.

Not all 7-day cruises do the "double-dip" at CC. There are only certain ones throughout the year that they label special cruises. Just check the DCL website to find out when they are.

I'm all for the 7-day cruises. Our first one was a 3-day cruise because our mindset was "just to try it out". Since then, we have always done the 7-day, although honestly IMHO the ideal cruise would be a 10-day. However, this takes me away from my office too long and DCL does not offer too many 10-day cruises.

I think the point about the days off from work is the best point taken for you since you are basing your decision on work and school. Also, when you do the math, the seven day is the most economical on a per day basis.
