4 more weeks in the cast!!!!

DS6 fractured his upper leg 2 weeks ago and has been in a full body/spica cast
we just came back from the doctors and he will be in it for 4 mroe weeks
NOOOO!!!!
oh well off to call the school to set up more tutoring

Poor guy! I feel so bad for him. How is he holding up? How is tht tutoring going? He must really miss school and all his friends.

A femur fracture is serious and takes a long time to heal -so a total of 6 wks non weight bearing is really not too bad Spica casts are difficult to live with... bummer. Big hugs for all of you!

UGH!!! Sorry to hear about your ds, my 6 y.o. ds just fractured his arm yesterday on the school playground...the dr. said on a scale of 1-10 (10 being worst case) my son's is a 9.5! he has a temp. cast on now and will get a perm. one tomorrow unless it has refractured by then and then he may need surgery on Monday!

its been ok
he has been a trooper!!!!
the tutoring is going good and the school is actually going being helpful
4 more weeks is gonna be tough though
but w will pull together and make it thru

I am so sorry-- I'm sure your ds had hopes of getting it off. My DS had a leg fracture and ACL injury earlier this school year. He had a cast that went from his tippy toes to the very upper most portion of his thigh-- this was bad- so I can't imagine what your ds is going through. I know every time we went for a visit and we were told another 1-2 weeks in the cast- ds would break into tears the minute we left the dr's office. He hated that thing. I hope the time goes by super quick for your son.

well ds6 has a high fremur fracuture
the spica cast is a hip and bidy cast the goes down the entire broken leg, half the other leg and all the way around his chest all way to his nipples and then a small square cut out of his stomach for breathing room and eating room
he broke his leg by climbing on top of a tv then when sliding off the tv fell on top of him
it was awful
he has never done anything like that, i dont know why he did it, he says he was trying to reach something on the shelf above it
well whats done is done
4 more weeks to go !!!!
