4 months old???

We drove to Disneyland with my 6 week old DD in January 2006 from Texas! Had to see the Texas Longhorns win the National championship! :thumbsup2 She stayed snuggled in her stroller as we toured the parks and I carried her on a lot of rides. It actually made for a nice, relaxing trip because we had to slow down a little more to feed, change, etc. My husband, mom and I took turns holding the baby riding the "big rides" with the 5 yr old DD.

wishtdream: We were expecting our 5 yr old to make up for the baby in the behavior department but we hit the jackpot - she was awesome. Flashforward to our trip last summer: 2 and 7? A WHOLE different story...:scared1:

We've been back for a month now :( , but we took our then 4 1/2 month old baby boy and his 8YO brother. The baby did FANTASTIC! Really it was absolutely no trouble at all. The absolute best thing we had was a stroller fan. It made his stroller feel like it was air conditioned when the canopy was down! They sell the Mickey Mouse fans in the gift shops, and we still use it!

How much was the stroller fan?

TIA!

A couple things that weren't mentioned:

-keep in mind that you won't be able to bring the stroller into most lines, so you will need to carry the baby for the waits in line

-sun protection is very important since baby skin can burn really easily

-I've seen people with blankets over the baby to block the sun, but it can get very hot under the blanket

-babies can get dehydrated very quickly because their bodies are so tiny, so keep up with the fluid

-if you need a quiet, cool place for the baby to nap or need anything for the baby, there is a Baby Care Station in each park (marked on the park maps)

Although a baby at this age would be easy to take care of (I breastfed for 14 months), I would never bring one that age due to weakened immune systems and risk of sunburn/dehydration. We waited until babes were 10.5 months old and went in May when they were good and healthy with no risk of influenza outbreaks, etc.

Good luck, Tiger

We bought 2 of the Mickey stroller fans.. I think they were $15 or $18 each.

Yep, they were $15 a month ago! We originally bought one online, but it broke halfway through the trip. If I'd known they sold them at the parks, we never would have gone through the trouble of paying almost double for the one online!

You just never know what will happen I think she was just completely overwhelmed and was having too much fun. KWIM

sun protection is very important since baby skin can burn really easily
- again the sling works very well for a very young baby as you should not use most sunscreens on tiny ones

babies can get dehydrated very quickly because their bodies are so tiny, so keep up with the fluid
--the sling worked very well for this too as you can nurse a tiny one with very little adjustment

if you need a quiet, cool place for the baby to nap or need anything for the baby, there is a Baby Care Station in each park (marked on the park maps)
-we were there for 9 days and I never even saw one of these . We were just too buzy with other things I guess. It's a great idea though.

I Specifically asked Both my pedi and my ob when I was Prego before I booked the trip if it would be safe to do @7 weeks. They both recommended I get insurance in case I was unable to go as planned - I had a Scheduled C-sect But said Baby would be fine as she would have my immunity still.

Fabulous photo, love it. So snug in there....

Also on the immunity, can't imagine it would be any different to a trip to the shops. Plus you are right if you are breastfeeding bubs will be taking parts of your immunity.

I had mine in the swimming pool at 8 weeks. They were all good.

I vote go for it. I HIGHLY recommend getting a good infant carrier, such as an Ergo to carry the little one around in. Most rides are family friendly. I went when my youngest was 15 months old and wore him in my carrier and did not even need to take him out for many things. It would be even easier with a younger baby.

just got back end of june with our 1 month old. wasent too bad at all. forced us to slow down and take it all in, something we have always taken for granted.

while the baby may not remember the trip, it will still be a great time - go for it!

I agree with this post.

There is no way in the world I would bring a child this young to WDW.

Whats' the point? :confused3

We went with a 7 month old and 5 month old (different trips, haha). I think it's easier going with babies than with older kids who can whine, or complain, or decide they want nothing to do with your plans! Keep a close eye on baby's needs (not like you truly need to be told that) - cool, hydrated, fed and diapered often - and you can pretty much do what you need to do!

Have a great trip.

We plan on bringing our infant w/ us when we go in Feb. We had a trip planned for this Sept but finding out I was pregnant we had to cancel. So I have booked a SURPRISE trip for my DH and DD for Feb. We will be traveling w/ my cousin and her son (who don't enjoy the BIG rides). I do't think we will have a problem. I know the baby won't remember anything but we will and a picture never lies.
We took our DD for her 1st b-day and she was wonderful. She slept when she needed too in her stroller and went on every ride she could.
I think it will be must easier and more relaxing actually to have a little one strapped to the front of you rather than worrying about a toddler that will loose your hand and run off.

Not too young at all! My sister's youngest went for the first time at 3 months of age. So she had a 9yr old, a 6yr old, and the 3 months old suprise! She also had me and our parents along on that trip, so there was no shortage of adults to help with the children. But even at that young age, they can go on any ride that does not have a height restriction. So her dad held her on them.

I think the older kids were more work. Face it, a 3 month old is pretty pliable, as long as you feed them and change them they are happy. The older kids need potty stops, want treats and souvineers, have melt-downs, and are much more demanding.

I know some people leave the younger ones at home. One of my friends left her 4 year old behind last month and just took her 2 older kids. Now the youngest does not want to let her out of his sight!

A four month old will sleep most of the time. Rachel was 7 months old when we first took her (only because when she was newborn we were waiting for the adoption to be finalized, otherwise we would have taken her sooner than 7 months) and she slept most of the time. It was wonderful, she slept in our arms on the rides that did not have restrictions on height. She rode on IASW, HM, SW, Dumbo, Transit Authority, all the walk in attractions such as Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, Country Bears, all the walk on attractions in MGM, Epcot, etc, etc. We have a photo of Cinderella holding Rachel and looking at her adoringly. It was the most fabulous trip. Don't hesitate to take your infant. You will miss out on some special memories if you do.

IMO, the point is for the family to have a vacation. The older child and the parents will enjoy this trip immensely. I would not leave behind my 4 month old (mostly because my kids were still exclusively breastfed at 4 mo.) just because they won't remember. As a PP said, I would remember and those memories are priceless.

We would never leave our children behind. We love them, we enjoy them (most of the time) and they are the "family" the family vacation was intended for.
My baby may not remember her first trip to WDW but her sister will always remember eating at the castle for her 5th birthday.

If we all kept our kids home until the public at large thought it was appropriate to bring them out they would not go anywhere before college.

and then not even in college as most college kids are rowdy
