To young right? We are tring to plan a trip for our sons b'day. We are thinking about disney, seaside, or the great smokey mountains. We did Disney 23 month old before and it was great. But 4 months old would be way too young for any riding right? It's been a while since I held a 4 month old..lol

:goodvibes I would say go for it! I had a great experience bringing my 4 month old to the world last December. We booked last minute, which was great because if I had thought about it, I probably would have thought it would be too difficult. He slept in the stroller when he was tired, he went on any ride he was allowed, and had no fear. He loved the characters, and we had a great time. Whatever you decide, it will be the best for you :goodvibes

I vote for too young. Many years ago we took our then 4 1/2 year old and left the baby (9 months) with my mom. This freed us up to do more things with the older child. The younger one doesn't remember anything from that age and my mother is still talks to this day about the special time she had alone with my daughter.

We took our 3.5 month old(our only child at the time). She was able to go on pretty much everything with us, as long as there was no height requirement.
It was an easy trip, they just go with the flow at that age.

Nope, we took an 11 week old. We had two others, who were almost 2 and almost 3. They were all amazing, but the baby was a breeze. She hung out all day in the sling, napped, and ate. She rode everything we did (we didn't do any big rides, which was find by us). It was december so we did not have to worry about heat, we had a great time.
I would do the smokey mountains with a baby too, love that place. But you would NEVER catch me at a sandy beach with a little one. What a mess!!
good luck deciding!

My son is 5 months - we were there last weekend BUT if you want to hear something really crazy -----

I gave birth to him at 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant on Jan 29. We went to Disney on February 6th. LOL. Yes, he was 8 days old at Disney World LOL

I vote not too young. I have done both, left my 6mth old dd home and took just my son who was 4 at the time with my mom. Paid for that for a long time. She was no longer sleeping through the night, and took awhile to get her to sleep all night again.

Then with child number 3 we took her along at 3 months. She went on all of the rides we were doing anyways and when she was tired she slept in the stroller. It was really very easy and she loved the characters. So maybe just decide based on the type of baby you have. Easy going, willing to sleep anywhere, fine take baby along. Fusy or colicky(ok that is spelled wrong) maybe grandma would like some bonding time. Just decide based on what is right for you. Good luck, I hope you have a great trip.

I wouldn't want to do it but to each his own.

I would imagine you could bring him/her on any ride that doesn't have some sort of snug fitting restraint, which is really a lot. Realistically, throw him/her in a sling or carrier and it's probably easier than bringing a 1 year old!

WOW! I'm impressed that you were feeling good enough to walk around WDW after only 8 days! That's great!:worship:

We took DD when she was 6 months ( sitting up but not eating solids yet) She was SO easy. Much easier than her two brothers:rotfl2: Like a PP said, she just hung out in the front pack the whole time, went on all the rides with me ( sometimes she was sleeping and didn't even know she was on a ride ). I wouldn't hesitate to bring a baby who was 4 mo. They are much easier than toddlers, I'd much rather take an infant anyday.

wow i'm shocked by all the yes! thats great!! He is only 12 days old right now.. came 3wks 2 days early. I think if we do go we will book next month. We booked at the end of august first of september and got a great deal last year. Thanks so much!!!

Both of my kids started to get into a regular nap schedule between 4-5 months (I am very protective of their sleep schedule). If yours isn't on a strict schedule and/or can sleep in a stroller I say GO FOR IT! :thumbsup2

A 4 month old doesn't count in room capacity, doesn't require admission tickets, You don;t need to buy food (unless you are doing formula). All you need are diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles, stroller and big sunshade. Seriously if you saw the list of things I'm bringing for my almost 3 y.o and 1 y.o, this looks like peanuts! Disney provides cribs or pack & plays, you don't need a car seat if you use ME.

Your older child will have a blast and the your infant will just go with the flow.

It is so much easier now than when they're crawling/walking/talking back :rotfl: .

Enjoy your trip!

Not at all! I took DD when she was just 3 months old because it was the only time we could manage time off for DH and the Animal Kingdom had just opened. We HAD to be there for that :cool1: . It was very hot for early June and I remember just about every CM we passed sprayed cool water on us with those mister fans an I breast fed so it was really nice having the stations to get out of the heat and into AC every few hours.:thumbsup2

I didn't do any big rides that trip but we were going once a year then anyway so it really didn't bother me or DH.DS was just under 3 so we had a stroller anyway. PS. I've also done the parks at 8mos. pregnant with two toddlers. And one night we decided to sprint from MK to Epcot for Illuminations after the fireworks and actually made it and got a good spot to boot.

Go for it.:flower3:

I will be taking my now 4 month old to Disney next month!! I have no fears at all but like the PP, he is already on a pretty reg. sleep schedule, which I am also protective off. I do get a lot of grief from the in-laws about it though but I don't care. Anyway, he is comfortable with sleeping in the stroller and plan to buy his jar food from wegoshop.com b/c I am not bring 30 jars in my luggage!

We are also going in Dec. but at that time I plan to head back to the resort for "nap time" everyday..he will be at the age then that a stroller nap just won't cut it.

have a great time...I am sure you won't regret it!!! :wizard:

haha... After the 4th within 5 years, they just kinda fall out (okay, im only kidding) but he was our unassisted home waterbirth and I was feeling back to normal within hours :) I felt the same way *almost* after my 2 yr old was born (homebirth with midwife). I was actually dying to go on all of the rides that I had to walk past during my pregnancy LOL. I was hoping to go into labor at Disney and get picked by the dream team to stay in Cinderella's suite and birth him there LOLOL... but no such luck

You are my heroine. :) Are you on any UC boards? (I haven't UCd but I should have, things would have gone much better. :upsidedow )

OP, I haven't taken a baby that little, but I figure, as long as you're not doing it FOR him, as long as you don't expect him to remember it, and as long as the adults are willing to switch off with him to sit out any bigger rides, I'd go for it.

But I'm also coming from a place of we didn't leave our guy with *anyone* for a very very long time. DS nursed exclusively until he was almost a year, so I was irreplaceable, and we had no one trustworthy for even an hour's worth of watching...DS was 3 months for a train trip to Oregon for DH and my 1st anniversary and we walked all over the city to pick up our wedding album. Traveling with DS is second nature to us, so we wouldn't even think about it twice, when we have another baby, to take DS and a baby to Disney whenever we wanted to. :goodvibes

Yes, I used to post on Mothering's UC boards at MDC. I very rarely check in there now as I'm usually here in free time LOL. Even the natural community in my "playgroups", I'm the weird one who UC'd even though we have a "good" midwife LOL. Oh well. It was truly an amazing experience and I wish I had done it every time (although I don't think I would have been in the right state of mind to do it with my first. everything would have worried me as I wouldn't have known what was normal). It was only DH and myself. My older kids all went to stay at my moms home. We spent a beautiful 2 days alone where no one but dh and myself saw my baby. We turned visitors away at the door, telling them we understand they wanted to see him and we mean well also but this is our last child (now we are questioning that) and we wanted to be selfish and felt we had that right. DH's family actually got mad at us and told us that we weren't invited to any family gatherings for 6 months - oh how I wish that really were the case LOLOL..

I took my baby when she was about that age and it was fine. Babies can ride on many of the attractions with you (of course some attractions are simply out of the question). Just bring a good stroller that your infant can sleep in with a good sun shade, take it slow and you'll have lots of fun. I found Disney particularly accommodating to infants in ways that other travel destinations aren't - for example the gift shops in the hotels all have baby gear

:thumbsup2 We took our 7 week old last September. She was the best behaved child in WDW. She went on lots of rides, and gave me no trouble. Now my 5year old.. thats another story all together.
