4 dogs in a small house

I will start off by saying we have a mutt and love her to death. My BIL sent new pictures of the latest addition to their family. They now have 4 full size Huskies. Their house is about 700sqft. Their is no room to walk around when they had 2 dogs. They do have a very large fenced in backyard. But the dogs are all indoor dogs. How can you live a house that size with dogs of that size? I know it is none of my business but my nephew13 makes comments that the dogs have more space in the house then he does because of all the cages and toy bins. I guess I am just trying to get this off my chest. My nephew complained when their were 2 and then 3, now 4. He only lives their on the weekends but still.

Maybe he they were rescues that he saved or just couldn't say no to.

To each his own, but one dog in a 1600sq foot house was too much for me and my kids.

The hair alone was enough to send me over the edge

I know that the first 3 were not rescues they all came from the same pet store. Because they bragged that they were only $xx amount a month and they were a great deal because they were going to breed them. But they ended up having them all fixed.

I myself would be overwhelmed with the hair and upkeep for four in such a small area! We have 1250 sq feet and 2 dogs/2 cats and I COULD easily add another dog and cat but I wouldn't want to at this point. Besides I'd be concerned that I could give adequate attention to anymore. :)

Our house is a little over 1200 sf, with a fairly small fenced in back yard. We have three dogs. Two about 30 lbs, and one about 60 lbs. I know there is NO WAY we could handle another dog in the house...just too much work!!!

What sounds sad to me (ignoring the buying pups from a pet store :sad2: and planning on breeding them :sad2: :sad2: ) is how your nephew feels. Some of it could be 13 yo "angst", but even that usually has some truth in it.

Does your nephew live close to you? Would it be possible to let him come and stay with you sometimes, just to get away from the crowd?

We have three labs in a 2500 sq ft house and there are days.....

Really, four big dogs would be too much for me.

When we lived in a smaller house (I'd say maybe 1800sf?) we had 2 cats and were going to get a dog. We didn't want a big dog because we wanted to crate train and were trying to think about the size of a crate a large dog would need and the size space we had for it. We ended up with a dog who was about 40-45 pounds, which was perfect. When we moved we ended up with another dog, and she's larger, but our house is quite a bit larger. We now have the two dogs and 4 cats and the hair is overwhelming sometimes, especially from one of the dogs. I can't imagine 4 large, shedding dogs in a real small house. But I guess there's nothing that you can say or do since they aren't asking for your opinion. They must be covered in dog hair!
