Hello Everyone, I have read lots of dining reports here on the DIS and decided to finally do one of my own…..so here goes…..and be gentle……
The cast of characters include Me, DW and DD…..this is our first day on arrival:

We also went with some good friends of ours, but for the purposes of this report they don’t exist! :rotfl:

The reason for my title (and those of you who were there this past weekend will know) is that the Orlando area (and pretty much all of Florida) had lots of rain!....I think I heard Saturday into Sunday it was like 10” of rain! :scared1: Anyway, it was wet….but we couldn’t let that ruin our fun!
We arrived on Thursday Oct 6 and checked in to our room at Saratoga Springs. We did not have any ADR’s for Thursday so we decided to go over to Downtown Disney….it didn’t seem too busy, so we decided to try and get in at Raglan Road….and Success!.....we got seated right away!

Raglan Road:

We had a great server named Karen. She was just a little bit of a thing but, very friendly and attentive. She brought us some Soda Bread and Guiness reduction with olive oil.

It was very good, a little sweet but very good.

My DW and DD did not want any appetizers so I had the Kinky Krab Rolls:

DSC00012.jpg

They were yummy….nice flavour and the sweet chilli dip was good. My DD decided to steal one from me and she loved it as well.

Next came the Entrees, DD and DW both had the Fish and Chips:

DSC00013.jpg

They liked them very much the chips were fresh and hot and the fish had a nice crispy batter, not too heavy….

I had the Paddy’s Pork:

DSC00015.jpg

I thought it was very good; a little heavy on the mashed potatoes, but it had great flavour and was a good size portion….almost too much!

For desert, DW had the Delight:

She said it was Awesome and one of the best desserts she has ever had at WDW.

I had the Ger’s Bread Pudding (I knew I was going to have this before I got on the plane!) :lmao:

Of course upon seeing it my DD again decided she would share with me….oh well….there was plenty!.....this was warm caramelly, buttery, creamy goodness in a cup…..that is about the best description I can give!

Overall, we all loved Raglan Road. The atmosphere was great, the food was great, and the service was great…..my DD, who dances herself, loved the dancing performances and so did I.

We will definitely be back here…..In fact we already have it booked for our Feb trip! :thumbsup2

Great start! I just love the bread pudding at Raglan Road. YUM! :thumbsup2

Looks good! What exactly is that first dessert with the raspberries? It looks amazing! Great review start!

This is from their website. I didn't find it on All Ears and thought maybe it was too new, but then I found their website.....

Dundon's Delight
Raspberry pavlova with vanilla pod ice cream and raspberry sauce

That first desert looks like a mushroom right out of Mario Bros.! Looks yummy!

Both dessert choices look awesome!! I have read so many good things about that Ger's. Must be Ger-eat!

I'm in! I heard about the rain, thats Florida weather for ya! Love the pictures, keep em coming!

I'm always worried it's going to rain our whole trip but we've been lucky so far!

Thanks for joining in. I was a little worried about the stability of the weather booking in early Oct, and I was right. The weather people didn't even know it would be like this until late Thursday into Friday. It seemed to be a perfect storm of events that caused all the rain. Saturday was really the only bad day, and sunday was pretty good other than a few passing showers. Overall it was crappy weather for Florida, but we were still in our happy place :thumbsup2

Next year I think we will book end of Oct or Beginning of Nov instead.

Anyway, on with the reveiw.......

That pork looks delicious! We have RR on our "won't go back right away" list but it has been getting decent reviews lately so we may have to reconsider for next year!

Great start to your reviews!! We did Raglan Road as well on our last trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the bread pudding as well and it was yummy! Sorry about all the rain but it sounds like you have a great attitude about it. Can't wait to read more reviews!

It was!....I would recommend it, but I think I am going to try the mixed grill next time....I saw that going by and it looked great!

Thanks!....we tried to have a good view on it, but it was a little hard on Saturday.

Mmm. Nice start :thumbsup2
I'm in, and hungry! :rotfl:

Thanks!

I'm in!! Can't wait to read... :surfweb:

Thanks for joining.

Flying Fish!....Friday Oct 7, 2011:

DSC00020.jpg

We arrived for our 6pm ADR just in time. It was a long walk from Soarin! This was by far the most anticipated meal of the trip for me. I had read lots of reviews on this restaurant and was really looking forward to it! We were pretty much seated right away and our servers name was Joey. He was great! very knowledgeable, lots of smiles and good at his job. We were seated at a table next to the kitchen so we could see all the goings on, which was really cool. :thumbsup2

First came the bread basket and salted butter

As was the case the day before, my DW and DD did not want an appetizer. I of course already knew I was having the Crab Cake!

DSC00023.jpg

I am a huge crab cake fan and have tried one whenever they are offered on a menu. I had heard lots of great things about this crab cake and it sure didn’t disappoint. It was perfectly seasoned and the Aioli and slaw that came with it were great compliments. I especially liked the fact it had very little filler in it. It was so good I almost ordered another one! It was not the best crab cake I ever had, but it was a very close second!

For our entrees, DW ordered the New York Strip:

DSC00025.jpg

She said it was cooked just to her liking and the potatoes and Veg were outstanding. I tried some and it was delicious!

My DD and I both had the Potato Wrapped Red Snapper with Mash and Leek fondue and a Veal and Wine reduction…..Again, I knew I was having this and convinced my DD to go for it as well…..

DSC00024.jpg

It was by far the best fish dish I have ever had at WDW. My DD also enjoyed in immensely and was glad she took my advice. The only thing I did not care for was that there was too much mash and leeks on the plate; I would have preferred a little smaller portion of this.

For dessert my DW and I both had the Banana Napoleon:

DSC00028.jpg

Joey had suggested this and said it was his favourite. It did not disappoint…..it was delicious and just the right size to end off the meal.

My DD had the Trio, It must be an updated item as I cannot find a description, but it was basically a homemade popsicle, a chocolate whoopee pie topped with sticks of deep fried pound cake, and some sort of ice cream topped with Caramel Corn…..

DSC00027.jpg

DD was needless to say very happy and gobbled it all up!

This is definitely on our re-do list for Feb and I can’t Wait!....Joey was a great server and we all enjoyed ourselves very much!

Holy cow, I think you just convinced me to give Flying Fish a try! Those are some drool-worthy pictures! DH and I are trying the DxDP for the first time next October just so we can try out some signature restaurants, and looks like I know one of them to put on the list now!

You also made Ger's bread pudding look AMAZING and I despise bread pudding! :lmao:

Can't wait to read more!

I agree Ger's bread pudding has now put Raglan Rd on my "eat there" list for next week's trip.

Crab Cakes look unbelieveable! I've been allerigic to shellfish for quite sometime now and miss it really bad.

looks yummy! I've never been to the flying fish, but it sure looks like tasty food :goodvibes
