4-day magic ticket, how to get an extra day

I'm going to be down in Disney with my daughter who is marching in the MK parade. Her and I are staying for 4 days after her band leaves, so I purchased
both of us the 4-day magic ticket since this was definitely the cheapest route. But I will be needing to get in to MK on the day she marches in the parade
and am trying to decide the cheapest way of doing this. Is there any way of adding an additional day to this magic ticket? Or am I going to just have to
suck it up and buy a 1-day ticket on top of it?
Thanks for any help!:earsboy:

Does the organization she is with offer any specially priced tickets for the event? Sometimes those discounts aren't great, but at least it's better than paying full gate price.
The discounts might be better if she's marching as part of an event that includes a longer camp, convention, or competition.

Also, it might be worth calculating whether the cost of adding on a day is better, or if you should just upgrade your ticket to a standard 5-day non-hopper ticket. I assume you won't need to upgrade your daughter's ticket because she already has admission included with her parade day?

Unfortunately, I can't get any discounted tickets through her band, but in regards to upgrading the magic ticket to a 5-day, is that possible on these special tickets?

If you bought the ticket as part of a room package, it might not be too late to make a change to the package (since as Robo points out it is not upgradeable), but honestly it’s probably cheaper to buy an extra day ticket anyway.

Cant be upgraded, but you could call Disney and ask if they would allow you to change your ticket type. You would have to look at the numbers of what would be cheaper-changing to a 5 day standard ticket (wouldnt have to do a hopper) or add a one day ticket.

I didn't actually say it was not upgradeable.
What I answered is that it is not possible to add an additional day to the 4-day magic ticket.

What you CAN do is outright buy a regular 5-day ticket (Hopper or not) by "trading in" (subtracting what you paid) for the 4-day Magic ticket from the cost of the regular 5-day ticket .
It will actually be rather expensive to do this as you will lose any "discount" that was realized from buying the 4-day Magic ticket.

Yes.
And quite expensive compared to buying the 4-day Magic ticket.

Run the numbers. Compare the cost of the 4-day Magic ticket + a 1-day base ticket for the day she is marching to the cost of a 5-day base ticket. Go with whichever is less.

Typical cost (date dependent)
4-day Magic $404.83
5-day regular Base $524.03
Cost minus “Trade-in” of 4-day Magic $119.17

1-day Base $138.45

If you wanted to, and it was available, you could also do an after hours event to make it a 5th day activity. Use one of your four days for your daughters parade at magic kingdom, and then do a mk after hours event on any other day. Might be more expensive than a single one day ticket, but offers a better experience.

There are 1 day tkts available for disney world on expedia. Rakuten currently offering 14% back for things to do at expedia. Hope this helps

The 4-day Magic Ticket, which sometimes goes by different names, is a good bargain, but it comes with some pretty big strings attached:

- You cannot upgrade it to a larger ticket.
- It only allows you into each park once (so you cannot visit Magic Kingdom twice and leave out Hollywood Studios, or whatever combination you might be considering).
- It cannot include hopping.

With that in mind, I think it's a good deal -- as long as you know what you're choosing. If I were you, I'd buy the 4-day Magic Ticket and spend the fifth day at Disney Springs, resorts, whatever else interests you.

As Robo mentions in the ticket sticky:
Basically, an upgrade is a change to a ticket that requires an additional payment.
"If it costs MORE... its an "upgrade."

So, basically, since a 5-day base costs more than a 4-day Magic ticket, yes, you can "upgrade" the 4-Magic ticket to a 5-day base ticket. What you can't do is upgrade a 4-day Magic ticket to a 5-day Magic ticket because, well, it simply doesn't exist!! It looks like upgrading to the 5-day base gives you a slight cost advantage, so I would probably do that. Unfortunately, it does wipe out the nice discount you received with the 4-day Magic ticket.

This is exactly what we are doing for our spring break trip. It was a good time to splurge on a AH event, since it was only a small amount more to buy AH tickets+4 day magic tickets than buying the regular 5 day tickets.

Thanks everyone for your replies!! I've already made all our FP's and ADR's so I don't really want to change the parks on the 4 days I'll be with my daughter. So that kind of rules out doing the special MK evening. I did run the numbers, and for me to upgrade the 4-day ticket to a 5-day ticket through Disney, it would save me $10. I'm thinking I'm just going to leave it as is, and buy a 1-day ticket through Undercover Tourist and probably pretty well break even. Thanks again everyone!

The 4-Day Magic Ticket can be upgraded to a 5-Day Base Ticket, but, again, you will be charged gate price for the 5-Day and pay the difference. We upgraded DS’s Magic at MK to a 5-Day Base, then Gold AP.

I understand not wanting to mess anything up, but have you called Ticketing to modify the tickets?
