4 and 5 day passes now must show ID and use separate entrance

I have now experienced the special lines for 4+ PH passes, and it could not have gone smoother. In fact, I was surprised at how short the lines were both at DL and DCA for me and my spouse.

The first time we used it, we printed our names on the back of the tickets, showed ID, and were in. In DCA, we simply showed the ticket and ID and that was that.

A couple with children were in front of us and they simply asked the parents to print the child's name and their name on the child ticket and would verify it via the parent's ID. No child was asked for an ID at any time from what I saw.

There were plenty of CMs available and I asked them which lines, they pointed them out, and I was on my way.

This has really been much ado about nothing, IMO.

Something you said made me remember something from our last trip to DL November of last year. We put our names on the back of our 4 day park hoppers, including our 4 year old daughter's. I can't remember if they ever checked our ID, but on one occassion going through the DCA gates, the CM looked at the name on the back of our daughter's ticket and then asked her what her name was. If a 4 year old is going to truthfully say their name, I guess that is ID enough.

I was just thinking back to the very first time I got a multi-day pass to Disneyland. It was in December 1995 and it was 't too long after they started doing the five day for the price of three if I remember right. Or maybe it was any three days within a five day time? The specifics are a little fuzzy.

I distinctly remember having to sign the ticket on the first day and then sign it again each day we entered the park. So this isn't a new solution really. I don't remember having to show ID, but that was a long time ago.

I was actually surprised when I went back a few years later and they weren't requiring that anymore.

I remember having to sign my ticket on each day too. Can't remember the details, but I do wonder why they stopped that, or if they would start that again.

I am not stressing out about it, just trying to figure out how this whole thing goes. This is our first time at DLR and really do not want to ruin our first day. I have the tickets where you print them at home. I also only can use my early morning my first day ! Do I need id for my 14 year old? I really do not want to carry our passports with us while in the parks for the day. I can not return to Canada without them.

I just need to decide if it will cut into our early hour at the park or not. Early hours on my first day are at 9 am. So I am aiming at being there shortly after 8am.


Any advice would be helpful .......

We were there 10/28-11/1 and the 4/5 day PH lines were consistantly shorter than the other lines. Also they did not let us w/ AP join their party in those lines we had to wait in the long lines.

We arrived yesterday and asked about the designated lines for the 5 day park hoppers. We were told those were no longer being used. We were able to go through any line with our tickets and I.D.

Wow..I will tell you is was a bit of a PIA when we were there..last day in parks was Thursday and they were still doing this and also at one time directed 5 day PH down to Wheelchair entrance. There were madhouse lines when we were there that streched all the way across the Esplanade doubling back in front of DCA to get into DL. More than once the crowds were so thick we couldn't see the sign for the special entrance and then my party had to leave the line they'd been in and go down to 5 day line. Also had times where one turnstile let in 5 day PH when we didn't see the sign and the turnstile next door didn't. We also saw TONS of people thinking their DL early entry was also DCA and were turned away angry. Because of various things our early entry days were whittled down to under 1/2 hour. Our Character Breakfast day something happened at DCA and that trunstile didn't open until 9:30..many in our line had Ariel's reservations that started well before that. Another morning they were filming for Saving Mr Banks in the Esplanade so no one could pass security. The line to get in from DCA was open and huge so again, by the time we got in our extra hour was closer to 30 minutes. We all commented that Disney seemed confused the entire rip about crowd control and what they were supposed to be doing. Very uncommon to see. Also, mad house for the Backstreet Boys/Parade filming and 2 days of Saving Mr Banks closing Fantasyland. I'm glad they've done away with this..just have folks show ID of have 5 day PH people get a photo the first day attached to their card or whatever.

I received my vacation package from UPS. I was surprised I had to go pick it up because it required a signature. Thought I'd get these things when I checked into the hotel.

We received two 6-day passes on cards that on the front had characters from Cars. There is a spot to sign it on the back. Our names are not on it.

I am surprised that names weren't printed on the tickets.

I just was at Disneyland from November 8-11. The first morning (Thursday) we had to use the 2 separate turnstiles for 4+ day passes. It was a breeze, because everyone was prepared with names on their tickets, and IDs handy. They had CMs walking the lines, and offering pens to those who were unaware. We were through the gates in a matter of minutes.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Nov 9, 10 &11) We could use ANY turnstile, as now they are saying they are requiring ALL tickets (even 1 day passes) to be signed. Lines were free flowing pretty much (except Sunday, it was a high crowd day).

We were also there the 6-9th. Thursday the 6th trying to use MM was a joke. We arrived 30 prior to MM and didn't get through the gates until 9:40. This was mainly because of the Costco passes. The CM at the gate had to type in all of the names for each of those passes. Friday was better because the 4-5 day hopper passes could enter at any gate.

This happened to my group, but doesn't seem entirely consistent. They had 4-day hoppers. On their first entry they had to print their name on the ticket and then the CM typed it into the computer and a new ticket was issued (with their name printed). After that they had to show ID when they entered. (Still needed a hand stamp as well.)

This morning at DCA, the CM had the family in front of me print their name and sign the ticket. Then they had to show ID.

We are just back from being in the park Nov. 7 - 14 with 6 day parkhoppers. Beginning Nov. 10th, they were no longer having the larger parkhoppers use a separate line. We were able to choose any line.

We all had to give them our original ticket, write our name on a piece of paper so they could type it into a machine to print out new tickets (there are 6 people in our party). Everytime we have entered or park-hopped, they've checked our ticket AND ID. It really slowed things down yesterday morning, taking over 30 minutes to get into the park. Otherwise it's been fine because crowds are really low right now.

Were you using an e-ticket at the turnstiles, or was this at Guest Services? We have actual PHs and I'm a bit confused about why they would print out a new ticket when we already have PHs that I printed our names on?

We had 8 day hoppers. When I turned in our vouchers for the tickets last Tuesday, our tickets were printed and the clerk printed out names on each ticket. For the first two days we had a "special" line. After that every turnstile was making tickets signed and checking ID EVERY time you entered or re-entered the park. We parkhopped numerous times in the days and always had to show ID. I didn't find the lines to be bad getting in. The only think that slowed things up was if someone didn't have their tickets signed OR wasn't ready with their ID.
