4 and 5 day passes now must show ID and use separate entrance

It's a pretty big fraud. A one-day park hopper is $125 whereas the difference between a 4 and 5-day park hopper is $15. So $110 of 'theft' per person, moreso if they 'rent' out more days. Disneyland can't sell the first day for $15 to anyone, obviously. The more people that skirt the rules, the more the honest people have to pay to make up for that lost profit. It's not much different than shoplifting.

If it's Disney's policy to not allow people to let someone else use the multi-day ticket, then I would not do it because I follow rules. However, I'm not sure I agree with equating it to shoplifting. If I buy a six pack of soda on sale and I only drink 5 cans and let someone else have the other can, even though they would have had to pay full price...is that similar to shoplifting?

Though I can see your point in the case of the last day of a ticket being given to someone who otherwise would not have gone at all. But when someone buys a used ticket, that's not what's happening.

I'm not sure what the difference is. Are you talking about giving the ticket away (for free) for someone to use the unused days...vs...selling the unused days for a profit (like scalping tickets)?

The #1 issue is obviously people are MAKING money off of the multiple day hopper tickets by selling off only part of it. Disney doesn't want others profiting off of its parks and I don't blame them.

Of course, those same people who are buying the used tickets are most likely still spending bucks in the park, but still.

I get it, as annoying as it may be for them to enforce.

To save time, I would go to the ticket booth the day before with your family and get the hard tickets completed. Having witnessed this new rule last week for myself, you should do what you can to get in and out of line as soon as possible. Dealing with it all at the turnstile, may take a bit more time than if you already had it handled at the ticket booth.
We opted to go to the ticket booth with our AP vouchers because I have heard that people can have issues with the vouchers at the turnstiles.

I ordered my 4 day tickets on line and had the actual tickets mailed to me. If you do it that way you could print names on the tickets ahead of time and just walk up to the 4 and 5 day entrance the fist day you want to use them. Just have the ID's available for the adults.

Thanks Girimama33 and LuckyRabbit! I'm a little confused why LuckyRabbit's method of getting actual tickets doesn't require my wife and kids to do anything, but Girimama33's method requires my wife and kids to be present. Has anyone tried to redeem printed out vouchers at a ticket booth for family members not present?

Again, I felt privileged to use the special line, and like I was being treated better for buying a more expensive ticket, not the other way around. :thumbsup2

Also, another way to identify the right turnstiles is that the bar above the turnstile instead of reading "Entrance" it read "Special Event Ticket" which I found easier to spot from a distance than the stand up sign which indicated it was for 4 and 5 day tickets. Also in front of each of these turnstiles was a cast member asking you as you approached if you were a 4 and 5 day pass holder and to have your ID out.

Thanks for this! I am feeling much better now than I was last week when I first heard about it.

I agree, I really do not understand the issue with carrying some form of id with you.

Whenever I use my credit card at DL I always have to show id, I do not understand why anyone would not carry it. I keep with my ticket, you have to carry that don't you?

If disney is expecting photo id for kids, okay I can see that being an issue, but so far I have read nothing that is saying you need photo id for kids, just adults.

Heck even my young adults have their school id with them, and we keep it with their tickets. Do we carry our passports? No, but then again disney has always accepted our Canadian id, even school ids, without a problem.

I for one do not mind at all having to show id if it helps cut down on fraud.

Maybe as an international traveler I am more used to having to show it more often.

+1

Everyone should carry photo ID!

Honestly, all multi-day passes should have a photo accompany them...not sure why they are just picking on 5 or 6 day passes...

At 10:30 this morning there was not one single guest in either of the 4 day plus turnstyles. The other turnstyles had long lines but you could not use the two set aside for 4 day plus tickets for anything other than 4 day plus tickets. I asked if AP's could use and was told no the systems in those two turnstyles are set up for 4 plus day tickets only. There are signs up and CMs directing guests with 4 plus day tickets to those two turnstyles.

Today I was at DCA, and while I was in line with my AP, a CM walked by the line I was in twice, telling everyone that if they had 4 or 5 day passes they needed to get into the other line. There was a guy behind me who had the multi day tickets, and the CM walked his party over to the correct line while letting them know they needed to get their ID's out. I think they are working the bugs out of their system, so I'm thinking everyone's initial concern may have been much ado about nothing.

Some of my kids will have 3 day PH and 2 will have 4day PH. This is yet another thing to plan ahead for and try to figure out. I had assumed we would all be entering together! UGHH! After all of this planning I will NEED a vacation!!

We haven't purchased tickets yet, but are planning on getting a 4 day non hopper pass.

Is it better to pre-purchase from DL or AAA print our name on the tickets and go directly to the turnstiles? Or should we just wait until we arrive and go to the ticket booth the night before our first park day to get everything taken care of?

What are the hours for the ticket booth? Same as the parks? We are supposed to arrive in California, mid day, but who knows how long we may be delayed.

We want to minimize our time at the turnstiles, especially at DCA.

My biggest concern is these two lines in the early morning hours when the park opens... especially on MM days. Has anyone had experience with these lines at park opening and how early people are lining up for MM/EE?

I have the same question. It appears that ordering your actual tickets ahead of time will avoid the hassle of having all your family members present at the ticket booth. But that is not confirmed.

Has anyone been able to go to the ticket booth alone and exchange Disney ticket print-at-home vouchers for tickets for everyone in your family?

I don't know this answer 100%, but if they were going to do the writing of the names at that time (ticket booth)...I would imagine everyone would need to be present. You always have the option of doing it all at the turnstiles too.
You may want to call their ticketing # to make sure...If it is an international call for you, let me know and I will try and find out for you.

These lines are available for EMH/MM. People start lining up 45+ minutes before the gate opens.

The difference is that when you buy a six pack of soda, the terms of sale do not indicate that they may not be transferred. The Disneyland ticket does state that you cannot resell the ticket. You are basically entering into a contract with Disney when you purchase the ticket that states that you agree that you will be the only person using the ticket.

And for those that question why they have to show ID (maybe not on this thread but I have seen it), you also agree to that. This covers the part about not being able to transfer the ticket to a family member for free (since their ID won't match).

Ticket terms from the Disney website:

Please remember the payment card(s) you use during your purchase today. As the purchaser of Disneyland Resort Tickets and Passes, you will be asked to show your payment card(s) and a valid government issued photo ID when you enter the Disneyland Parks. Failure to produce proof of purchase may result in denial of admittance to the theme parks, and/or denial of other rights and entitlements.

Applicable theme park, days and times of operation and all other elements including, but not limited to, operation of attractions, entertainment, stores and restaurants and appearances of Disney Characters may vary and are subject to change without notice. Subject to capacity and other restrictions. Tickets may not be sold or transferred for commercial use. Offer may not be combined with any other ticket offer, discount or promotion. All offers, events, tickets, age ranges, services, attractions and entertainment may be seasonal and are subject to change without notice. Ticket products, price and entitlements available online may be different than at Disneyland Resort Main Entrance ticket booths.

I 100% agree with Disney cracking down on the fraud. And from recent reports, it appears that they have gotten the line situation under control quickly.

Not directed at the person I quoted but my general comments on the subject....
I know some feel that Disney should look the other way to fraud in order to avoid negatively impacting the other guests but I completely disagree. By looking the other way, they are basically giving the green light for people to continue the practice, and in greater numbers. If Disney isn't going to stop the practice, more and more people will jump on the "renting" tickets game. And that will ultimately result in higher prices for all the honest people who actually abide by the terms of sale. Why should we pay more while Disney allows the fraud to continue? I applaud them for taking action to stop the fraud.

Disney recommends being at the gates 1hour and 15 minutes prior to opening for all early entries. Yesterday at DCA I walked up right at 7 am and strolled over to Casland to find maybe 50 people ahead of me for RSR. We walked right on and the same for luigies and mater. Heading over to DL shortly my guess is the gates will be jam packed cause it isn't just DLR hotel guests for DL but all with 3 plus day passes, and its a late opening.

I'm assuming that the 4+ day passes can also enter at GCH, since that's a perk of staying at the hotels?

Good question. I would suspect the % of 4+ day guests entering that entrance is much higher than at the front gate, so I would assume you could enter there too.

I'm in Austin, TX, so it's not an international call for me. I'll call them and try to find out. If I find anything useful, I'll report back.

I'm saying that if I have one day left on my PH and it's going to go unused, if I gave (or sold) it to a local friend and said, "here, go to Disneyland today", and that friend would 100% have not gone without me offering a ticket, that is one thing. Still it's not allowed but it's not taking revenue away from Disney. The net result to Disney is probably a positive-- more parking $, food $, souvenir $, though one more person in lines and at shows.

But me finding someone (through a ticket broker or whatever) who IS going to Disneyland and has to buy a ticket regardless of what I do with my tickets, if I sell (or give) them mine, I am helping someone take $100+ of revenue out of Disneyland's pocket. That buyer may as well be shoplifting that ticket, from the standpoint of company revenue.
