We were on the MV of the Dream so we do not have another cruise scheduled until this cruise. My wife and I went on the Dream for our 20th anniversary so our girls are very excited to be going on the Fantasy.

Welcome aboard to the other new families

We were supposed to be on the Dream this spring break but decided to switch it so we could go on the 11-night cruise over Christmas. We didn't figure we'd have too many opportunities with work situations, etc., to take that long of a cruise again for awhile, so that's what made us decide. Plus, we had friends from a previous cruise going who have girls near my DD's age, so that was the final nudge to commit. We had a great time! (But I am a little sad as spring break approaches that we aren't going on that one too...):sad1: I hope you will share lots of things you learned about the Dream on this thread so that us "newbies" to the new ships will have a little heads up before boarding her sister ship!

I will be happy to share but I don't want to ruin any surprises. The 4 night cruise is too short -- we felt like we only got half way thru the Dream. Looking forward to 1 week on the Fantasy

I'm afraid I'll be on the DISboards too much over the next year to be surprised by much! Plus, I am addicted to over-planning so I feel comfort in knowing what to expect ;)

We enjoyed watching the pictures of the Dream being built. We only looked at exterior pictures and avoided all interior pictures. We watched the Christening on you-tube but avoided all the Good Morning America features. I can only imagine that the Fantasy will be more splendid.

Hi Everyone!
We are booked on the April 7th sailing of the Fantasy! I can hardly believe it! My children have no idea and we are planning to surprise them for Christmas. This will be our third DCL cruise and we will be celebrating my oldest DD's graduation. Our DBFF's just booked this cruise today, as well!! Traveling with me will be my DH, DD (18), DD (15), DD (12) and DD (7)....(ages are at the time of sailing)....My DBFF and her DH have DS (16), DS (13), DD (10), and DD (7). They have never been on a Disney cruise before, so I am so excited for them. We sailed on the Wonder for a 3-day (land and sea package) back in 2001 and did the Eastern cruise on the Magic for spring break in April 2009. (Itutorfortravel, I think you and your family were on that cruise. We met briefly in the terminal before we boarded!)

I had no idea that the April 7th sailing was originally the MV for the Fantasy. I would have been so disappointed if we were not able to book as this is what my DD wanted to do for her last high school spring break!!

It has been a long while since I've posted anything. I was a bit depressed after our last cruise!

Hey disneycruz! It will be great to sail with you again :) I am looking forward to sailing at spring break again. Our last 2 cruises have been over Christmas and while that was beautiful and such a stress free holiday, I am looking forward to the better weather that comes with spring...

Welcome aboard -- Itutorfortravel and I were all alone on this cruise for the longest time. I have a DD(16) and DD(12) (age at cruise time) so they will match up well with your family for the teen or tween clubs. We were originally booked on this cruise for the Maiden Voyage and then Disney changed the dates right after Christmas so we cancelled so we could get our non-refundable deposits back. We went on the Dream Maiden Voyage and re-booked the cruise:cool1: since it was our daughter's spring break week.

Are we there yet?

We just booked this cruise a few weeks ago! We were on the Magic on March 5 and booked onboard for a late April 2012 trip on the Fantasy. I had no clue when our spring break was going to be and I thought spring breaks were a lot more expensive. When we got home I had our TA price out the difference and it wasn't too bad (a few years ago it was like $2500 more - weird). So now we are sailing over Spring Break!

Me, DW, DS(9) and DD(7) at time of sailing. It'll be our 3rd Disney cruise. Previous two were on the Magic. Looking forward to seeing the new ship.

(They'll have the kinks worked out after that first week right? HA!)

374 days to go, right?

Welcome aboard sunburnin! You live in my neck of the woods...we're also in the Charlotte area (Union County).

I've got a Disney countdown on my Droid phone...it's so cute, a little Mickey head with the days till our cruise. I remember when it was up around 450 days...I can't believe that in a couple weeks we'll be able to say our cruise is less than a year away.

I have two friends who are sailing on the Dream over spring break. I'm SO jealous! We were supposed to be on that trip & now I wish we had not cancelled it. However I may not have been able to talk DH into the Fantasy cruise if we had done the Dream this year, and I'd rather have the 3 extra days!

Woo hoo!

One year from today I'll be driving back down to Port Canaveral!

 That's right! Of course, if we end up doing what we always do, I'd be in St. Augustine right now shopping at the Tommy Bahama outlet on the way down...we usually leave on Thursday and make a stop in St. Augustine for a nice dinner and shopping and then get to Port Canaveral about check in time at the hotel.

My little icon on my Droid is saying 366 days till my next Disney vacation!

I think I need to have some sort of celebration tomorrow :thumbsup2

Kimberly

We are so looking for our 1st Disney cruise...Has anyone else noticed the spike in rates recently for our sailing? We book in January in a Cat4a for myself, DW, DD8 7 DD5 and paid $6,800 now its up to $7,700. Almost a grand just at the year mark...

For itutorfortravel - Two years ago today, we were boarding the Magic for a week of sun and fun!!! I can't believe it was two years ago already! We have friends sailing on the Magic on Saturday that cruised with us two years ago. We are so jealous! We are so looking forward to next year's spring break!!!

I can't believe it's been 2 years since that time either...our first Disney cruise!

I understand how you feel about your friends sailing this weekend. I have a friend sailing on the Dream this Thursday and another one sailing on her Sunday. We were supposed to be going with our friends this Sunday but decided to cancel because we went with them on the Christmas cruise and just didn't feel we could do both. Wish I would win the lottery or something! :rotfl:

It is officially less than one year till we sail again! Sooo excited to be going again and on a new ship to boot!

We've been MIA for quite a while... getting ready for our REPO and Alaska trips!

Can't believe the Fantasy sailing will be here in less than a year!!!

Still bummed at DCL for making this deposit non-transferable when they already knew Hawaii was in the works. We would have gladly jumped ship to join our 20+ friends who are doing Hawaii, but we can't aford to do both cruises. We've neither the fund$ nor the time (sigh). Bad, Bad Disney.

That said, we are slowly building our enthusiasm back up for this cruise and will look forward to getting back on this thread again. :goodvibes

Hi Bonzie!

Not that it wouldn't be great to sail with you, but you know that the deposit for this cruise is refundable since it's not the MV anymore, right? I know there was some confusion over that with the people who originally booked this week thinking it was the MV.

For us, it worked out great this it's not the MV. We didn't want to put down a deposit that we'd lose if we didn't go and it was way too far out for us to commit to it 100%.

So, that HI cruise may not be elusive after all! ;)

Looks like I am on the wrong thread!!! This started out as the MV and now that's been moved to one week earlier. Oooops!

Now I've got to find that thread. Thanks for the update. :thumbsup2 I'm really behind!

Well all week I've been kind of bummed because we were supposed to be on the Dream Sunday through today but had changed our plans. But thinking about the fact that it would all be over by now made me feel much better because I still have a wonderful seven day cruise to look forward to!

I hope everyone has enjoyed (or are still enjoying their spring breaks )...we spent a few days at the beach which put me in the mood for next year's. Caribbean vacation.

We have friends that are on the Magic this week and they are sitting on the beach at Castaway Cay right now! So jealous, but, I too, am glad to have next year's trip to look forward to! We went to Hilton Head for a few days this week to experience some sun and fun....not quite Castaway Cay, but good enough. (We should have checked out Disney's resort there, but we never left our beachside hotel!)

Had anyone considered rebooking on the Magic for April 6, 2012, to save money? It is an Eastern itinerary, which we've done, but it is so much cheaper! If this wasn't our last spring break with all four of our DD's, then I might have reconsidered.
