This is REALLY disappointing. I booked this cruise the day it opened for booking using DVC points, and we cannot change the date due to it being my wife's school break. If not for the DVC points being non refundable, I would probably cancel the whole thing.

Since this is a change that is not your fault I think you may be able to get your points back. You might want to check if you really want to cancel. I know this cruise is said to be cheaper now that it is no longer the maiden voyage, so you should recieve some points back.

I just had an e-mail from Dreams Unlimited giving us the option to move our reservation to March 31st or cancel without penalty. I have told them to go ahead and move our reservation. :goodvibes

This is my spring break - and I wanted to go - but did not want to be on a maiden voyage - mainly because I did not want to book something so far in advance and not have my deposit be non refundable or transferable. I can't see the prices online yet though - hopefully I will be able to book soon

I guess they are receiving the ship earlier than planned so they are changing the MV to March 31st and yes anyone who stays on April 7th will go to a lower rate due to the fact it is now not the MV date. Sorry to hear you wont be joining us on the MV EcbLovesMickey.

Actually, Disney's official line is that the current 4/7/12 rates will stay the same for now and they have not decided whether or not to lower it for existing reservations. Quoted from my TA: "Disney is saying that since the April 7th sailing is no longer the inaugural cruise, guests may see a reduction in their fare, but that determination would not be made until a future date once all guests who wish to be moved to the March 31st sailing are moved."

The only reason we were willing to pull DD out of school, fly 2000 miles, and pay through the nose for this cruise was because it was the maiden voyage. Even *if* the price goes down, once we factor in flights I don't think it will go down enough. So we are going to cancel. We are looking at the MR cruise on 4/15/12 for DD's birthday since we wouldn't have to fly, but our family that was joining us on the Fantasy have no interest in that cruise so we'd be doing it alone. I am so sad right now. D:

Sorry everyone but my wife and I decided to stay on the maiden voyage. We got our call yesterday. I hope all of you enjoy your cruise. Take care and best of luck

Candida and I have jumped ship, we'll be moving to the new MV dates.

Jon

We switched this morning. Staying with the Maiden Voyage. Just couldn't pass up what could be the last Disney maiden voyage for 10+ years.

BTW, DCL couldn't reach us by phone so they emailed and said I should call 866-325-6817 by 12/27 to let them know what we wanted to do. The number goes to a special voice mail box for the Maiden Voyage change. If others have not heard from DCL, you could try that number.

Hi everybody! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have switched to the new Maiden Voyage date on 3/31 and will not be sailing on the 4/7 cruise. Someone else will need to take over the Fish Extender group for the 4/7 cruise. If you already signed up with me for the FE group and are NOT switching to the new date please let me know so I can make adjustments. If you have switched to the new date and have not signed up for the FE group but wish to participate, please let me know so I can add you to the list. If you wish to be in the 3/31/12 FE group please send me an e-mail at FantasyMV@gmail.com
In the e-mail send me your stateroom number, Disboard name, first name of each person in the stateroom, realtionship to you (DH, DW, DD, DS, etc) ages and gender of children. For example here is mine:

stateroom: 7182
Disname: calypso726
First name: Terrie (DW)
Age: Kid at Heart
Disname: W@LL-E
First name: Wally (DH)
Age: Kid at heart

We are disappointed that they moved the maiden voyage-we are on spring break the week of April 7th so we kept our reservation. The price reduction was $846. I guess I hoped it might be more but it still is Easter week. At least we are still sailing the western itinerary.

Returned on Christmas Eve from a wonderful one week stay at WDW. Checking the Disboards and finding out about this switch. We booked the MV because is coincided with our children's Spring Break. This is a major disappointment that Disney is doing this.:headache::sad2::mad:

We were only discounted $ 294 per cabin for our two (Cat 9A) cabins. We decided to cancel so we could get our non-refundable deposit back since it was Disney's doing at this time. We may rebook this Fantasy cruise while we are on our Disney Dream cruise so we get the onboard discount and then our deposits would be refundable again like a normal cruise.

Good luck and have a great cruise in April 2012!

John

Only people who move to the 3/31/12 cruise still have non-refundable deposits. Everyone who stays on the 4/7/12 cruise will have their reservations turn into standard ones that are refundable and transferable up to PIF date.

I hope you got that refundable part in writing. :rolleyes1 I asked how quickly I had to make the change in date decision and they said by Thursday, Dec 30th. I said I am not changing to the March date. I said what is the deadline to get my deposit back if I decide to cancel the April 7th cruise and she told me Thursday.

Your comment sounds reasonable but that was not the answer I got so I went the safer route. Disney's trustworthiness is at an all-time low with me and I am even going on the Disney Dream Maiden voyage in less than a month.

I had my TA check again, just to make sure. She spoke to two different CMs, one of whom is in charge of the team handling the change for all passengers with existing reservations, and both confirmed that by staying on the 4/7/12 cruise the reservation will convert to Disney's standard cancellation/transfer policy. She also had them add a notation to our reservation that we confirmed this before tomorrow's moving deadline.

Hope everyone enjoys this cruise... I just cancelled all together. For work reasons I cannot go on the new maiden voyage, and I know I would just be too bitter to stay on this cruise. Good luck to all.

We also canceled outright. Between the crummy way Disney did this (and just before Christmas too) and the fact that the discount they offered us to stay on the cruise was not enough to make it rack rate of the same cruise the following week, we decided just to get the money back and decide later what do.

We decided to stay with this April 7 sailing because I was told the 10% discount applied on my reservation and not on the MV. Sounds like this thread is a mess now.

What I mean about mess, with all the defections, including the original poster and the FE organizer, this thread practically needs a reboot. Plus, there's some bitterness about the MV change.
