4/3 and 40% worked better for us as a couple.

I just ran the numbers. We went in Jan-feb with the 4/3, 200 gift card and when I saw FD I was like whooopeeee we can go back with a even better deal...nope..it costs even more with only free dining for a couple. I'm sure with kids or more people per room it can be a great savings but for two people and if you are going to stay 7 days 4/3 can be a better deal..boohoo I was hoping for a return trip...I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...anyone have any kids they want to loan us so I can tell DBF we are getting a great deal?

I was hoping they'd extend the 4/3 again. While we've done the dining plan a couple of times and liked it, it's really not our thing. I enjoy a couple of nice dinners on a 7 day trip, but don't need 7 TS.

I'm sure you'll get some volunteers to loan you some kids!

Yes, I got the free dining bounceback when we were down there last Sept for this Sept 26th-Oct 4th trip. However, no one in my family is interested in going back at that time, so it looks like it may be another solo trip, which is fine. I usually go down there at least twice a year solo anyway and really enjoy those trips. However, if no one decides to go with me, I'll probaby just rebook it using an AP code when they come out or if WDW extends the 4/3 deal then that would be a better deal. Free dining is not a great deal for solo diners, as there is nearly always another code out there that will beat it.

I was sort of hoping for something else besides Free Dining. We did Free Dining two years ago and it was great. At the time, we had one well behaved child. Now we have two kids, one of whom isn't all that fond of sitting in restaurants. So I hadn't even planned on getting the dining package. A few table services (mostly character meals) was al I was planning! Now, I am rethinking my whole trip. But the meal plan with something like 40% off would have been great!

But beggers can't be choosers....

I ran the numbers as well and the 4/3 deal turned out to be the better savings over free dining for us.......and that's with 2 adults/2 teens (who are priced as adults). The deluxes seem to have the best savings under the 4/3 promo with the values having the best deal with free dining. For the exact same package (resort/DDP/tickets), free dining would cost us $200 MORE than the 4/3 deal.
