BLBCB- They can tell you, they just don't always want to ruin the joy of a parent finding out on their own. I always told them NOT to tell me if they said a new thing at school, or walked, or crawled for the first time. For me, it was part of the whole working mommy guilt that I had as my girls were babies!

PJ

Yay, Catrina! Way to go!! Now it's time to learn to run....

CG - no update yet today on Mimi. Waiting for the dr to come today to talk with my aunt then she will call me.

Barb - that is awesome for you guys! How cool! Can you take some pics and post them so we can see??

PJ - can I say that I am so jealous of your new addition to the house? It's beautiful! Tell HGP I said good job! And it looks like the paint dried beautifully - good supervision, I guess!

54 days...wow! Seems like it's just around the corner but then seems so far away.

Julie, tell Tom thanks for calling yesterday. Actually tell Abby that Tori said thank you. She talked about that call all day yesterday! I never did remember what I wanted to ask you about. My brain is on overload lately! Poor Ed is getting tired of me calling every 5 minutes because I finally remembered what it was I called about before!

I sent off the rest of the packages this morning. The only one I haven't is Carolina_Yankee - so PM me with an address to mail them or catch me on the ship!

PLEASE let me know when your package arrives so that I can check it off. AND let me know if the order is correct (I checked it so many times to make sure but you never know!). Thanks everyone!!

Gotta finish some shopping. Wrote my last check at the post office and had to stop by to get a new book and some breakfast. Don't ask, rough morning....

Barb - yet another BIG HUGE congratulations!!!! Have fun (your feelingd of love will keep you warm)

At Day Care they like to wait until you see something for yourself first before they tell you about it - more times than not this is the way the parents like it. They get more complaints and down right mutiny if they tell about big events prior to the parent seeing it. It's a highlight of the drawbacks of day care. You aren't there to see the big stuff and the little stuff inbetween. But most times its just a day or even hours before I see it too. I actually would prefer they tell me about it, so often they do. They told me recently that Catrina is saying Dada at school - we have never even come close to hearing this at home! She says Mama all the time. They only told me about this because they know me and know how I feel about it. I don't think they would have told me about taking a step, though - that's just too big. What I do wish they would do would be to not be so smug about it when I do tell them I see something - maybe fein ignorance or something. But the whole smug smile thing gets to me. Just lie to me damnit!

OK - Suzie, I have a heads up for you and for anyone contemplating Limo service: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1048434

PJ - I just saw your new pics over on Yahoo - those dresses are gorgeous as are your girls!!!!

OK - I am off to get carolina_yankee the info he was searching for. Plus, I absolutely have to leave the DIS!

Read this post but I must say they had an experience we never had. AND they email you NOT to go with anyone that doesn't have a HAPPY LIMO sign. They've had imposter problems. I had SO MANY problems with Tiffany TC when we used them last September that never again would I use them. I've not had a problem with HL as you all have heard. Now, not saying that problems never happen, every company has problems and no one is ever 100% satisfied (That's just not reality!!) But I go with the company that I've had a good experience with not one that I really regretted.

It's your choice who you use, but ours is clearly made.

I totally found that thread whacked - didn't you find it incomprehensible that they would get into the limo from another service simply because they had their name posted???? I would have raised holy freakin hell - no way would I have accepted a 50% discount. I would have stopped payment and told my credit card company to get that money back. The whole thing seems weird.

I just wanted to let you know it was out there. I found it really weird that so many were reporting such big problems - sometimes people pile on around here and it's good to put some balance into the mix. So head on over and balance it out. I needed to do this recently with a thread about Costco's travel program.

Done deal. I even just got off the phone with them changing our departure arrival. She was so nice and before we got off the phone I had my change confirmation in my INBOX!!! I told her I'm referring people for the cruise but I GET GARY! LOL!!

Gotta go! Errands I didn't get done because I never got away from here and I've got pick up Tori from school.

Dude! They don't need lunches for ALL those things! Whatcha thinkin'?

Start with school. Do they need lunch? Hell no! Teach them this phrase: "My mommy left us. I'm hungry." Trust me, within minutes they will be surrounded by the most kind, motherly, teachers around and with any luck at all, they will be bringing casseroles home with them. If you can teach your kids to play their cards right, you won't have to cook all week.

Laundry. Dude, you do not need to be doing laundry. Man up! Teach those kids some survival skills! Inside, outside, front to back; if you can't get four days out of a pair of underwear you're not doing it right.

Swim class. This is a good thing. It means they don't have to bathe. Them: "Daddy, I fell in the mud!" You: "So? You have swim class tomorrow, don't you?"

Dentist appointment. Hey, you are paying big bucks for someone else to brush their teeth! You won't need to brush their teeth again for weeks! Your job is to tie the little wretches to the chair while you sample the nitrous oxide.

And showers. See "Swim Class" above. And if they are too young for the pool, they are to young to remember being hosed down outside.

Man up, Dude! We Pirates are manly men!

Dang nab it, he's gonna make all of us look bad. Next thing you know, the wench will be wanting me to put in indoor plumbing...

AAAARRRRGGGG! pirate:

castlegazer looks around suspiciously on the look out for her DH - coast looks clear..........for now.....

STEVE - you can always do what my husband did - leave the house a mess, just do the best you can, and pray like hell that she comes home soon!!!

I feel for you, man. I swear to God I have never felt so bad for my husband as I did last weekend. Everything went wrong. He showed up to swim class thinking everything was hunky dory only to get to the edge of the pool ready to take Catrina in when he found out he only had boxers on. :scared1: That was the beginning of what would become a very, very bad weekend alone with the kids. I swear to you everything went wrong. He just could not catch a break.

So therefore when I got home, I was cool with the mess, I was cool with the whining, I was sooo sympathetic to everything. I still owe him big time (although, I did a week with nary a complaint - checks again for any sign of him .... OK, coast still clear).

Don't encourage him. He'll just get worse.
This is a man that changes diapers by just putting a new one over the old one. Sigh......

The Wench :surfweb:

Off to work. You and Mimi are in our T&Ps.

Last night (early this morning, actually) I finished the final report on a project I've been working on for years. This is a very cool research study that will be published in a few months. I burned a CD of the data and have a copy at the research department, a copy in my office in case the research department burns down, a copy in a co-investigator's office in case the research department and my office both burn down, a copy with my research associate in case the research department, my office, and my co-investigator's offices all burn down..... I'd like to send a copy for my mother in case our entire university burns down, but I don't think it's allowed :)

Anyway, being done is a great feeling. I haven't taken a vacation in years, and this feels great. WhooHoo! Is it too early to start packing?

The Roses

Suzie - we received our bands today! VERY cute! :yay:

The sizes are perfect for me and the kids (still need to have DH try his). Jessica does not want to take hers off.

CG - thanks for posting the thread about Happy Limo, and Suzie thanks for your response. We have them booked for our transportation, so let's hope it works out.

I also read the thread about the gift baskets - it sounds like Shirley from PerfectGifts has some great ideas. I will be calling her.

Jon - you had me rolling. :rotfl: Just can't let my DH see that post!

OHJulie :wave2:

The Roses: :OMG that was hilarious! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Ok, I did not fall of the face of the earth contrary to popular belief...I had another overnite crop this wknd (Doing as many as I can--I'm about 7 years behind!) and DH has been out of town for a week, so much to keep up with, and now I've got to get some actual work done, but let me just say...

CG and Suzie--The bracelet saga was amazing! :worship: I'm in awe.

Roses--Way back there, about your Christmas Tree, I mean 'tree with lights', this is our M.O. as well. I'm honestly surprised it's not still up. We were really on top of things this year, I guess!

Ohsodis--Congrats on your weight loss! That has to be an amazing diet! I'll look back for those posts and see what it's like...I'm doing the treadmill every weekday but not eating healthy on the weekends, so I seem to be defeating myself. 2 steps fwd, 1 step back is still fwd, at least. ....Also, the luggage tags pic is gone...can you post it on the other site (maybe its already there).

Favorite rides: Emma definitely BTMRR (We went shortly before the fatal accident in DL, and then again a year after it reopened and I'm still nervous!), Mike-has to be RnR--he and DH rode this several times while Emma & I waited at the back entrance to Fantasmic after our dining pkg. They came back so excited and out of breath from laughing. Made me smile!

Barb--Bowling? Is that a winter sport?? I love bowling! How cool for him to make it...please post pics!

CG--Way to go Catrina! I remember that look on the daycare teacher's face...and when your sweet child doesnt want to go home with you in the afternoon :sad1:. Thank God they (my kids) didn't want me to leave in the AM or I might have gotten a complex!

And Susie:grouphug: Your family is going thru just too much!...some peace and quiet coming your way, I hope.

Now to work :surfweb:

I get my complex on the weekends when they can't understand why I am it for them to play with. How boring! I had to explain over and over to my son on manyanoccasion about how the center is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, he's not missing anything, really, no one is there playing without you. :guilty:

CG that's the best mental siesta pic yet...the water actually LOOKS warm... I can really place myself there right now... (dreamy tropical background notes)

no, no, no...wait! bring it back! I must have it for my desktop! (gettin' tired of looking at all your sorry mugs anyway, arrrrgh!)

The quality kind of sucked on those, so that and the fact that they were huge was the reason I removed them, but there they are for the taking. I couldn't find better ones today. It's funny, some days I get good searches and find great pics, some days, it just stinks.
