Hey everyone we survived, where do I start, well I am not hurt that bad, and I have three unbelievable soccer players in the family (myself excluded). Abby started out the weekend in her Mommy and Me or Daddy too class, which is taught by Lindseys coachs wife who played womens soccer at Mercyhurst, and dominated the boys as she is the only girl in the class. In fact they told us afterwards that she really should be moved up to the Koalo Kickers in the next session, she will probably be the best in the family only because her sisters are going to push her to be.

Sarah then had her first 4 v 4 game, they lost 1-0, but my Tweener was awesome. Usually she doesn't really get into the mix and if she gets pushed at all she backs down, but I think a pep talk by her oldest sister and the constant hounding by yours truely fired her up and she was all over the field. She has asked Lindsey to be her personal coach when it is nice enough outside that they can train.

Lindsey started out on Saturday afternoon with a loss, they are playing up (against girls that are all a year older) and in a highest division. Then is was a 1 1/2 hour drive north to Mt. Pleasant for an overnight and a 7:45 game, they came out and really controlled the whole game won 3-0, but the coach called off the dogs since 3 points is the most you can get. He ended up playing the girls where they don't usually play to give them a chance to change it up. Then in the second game they jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and decided that it was to easy so just went through the motions ended up giving up 2 goals before waking up, the only problem was there was only 1 minute left so the game ended up tied. Next played a team that had won 10-0 and 7-0, and won't go into to all the details but lost 6-1 (Lindsey scored the only goal) and because of a tiebreaker slipped into the finals to play the team that they just lost to. They changed up the defense a little and held a 1-0 lead until about 5 minutes left when they gave up 2 goals in about 30 seconds, but still finished second.

My team, well two of us stayed up at the hotel the night before drinking with the boy band coach (played at Mercyhurst also that is where they met), until 2:30 and had to get up at 6:20 for the kids games. So a quick drive home and a two hour nap we were ready to play, ended up with all the wifes and kids screaming and watching the old guys fall 6-5. Took a knee to the hip, so have a bruise and a limp, but have a week to heal before we do it again.

Lets just say I do have to get into shape for the hammock dash, oh and by the way joined the Biggest loser club at work. Goes for 12 weeks and has a weekly weigh in, 1st week down 3.6 pounds, my goal is 20 before the cruise.

Sorry to ramble

Tom, awesome! :cool1: Sounds like a great weekend and I'm sure you are so proud of your girls! Way to go, Lindsey!! Sorry about the bruise, but it sure makes for a cool story, eh? I've given Ed permission (yes, he actually asked me if he could!) to play flag football next season with some friends. Can't wait to see all the bumps and bruises he'll come home with. But back to you - how cool to have your won little cheer squad on the side lines! Did Julie get any pics by chance???? Oh, yes, and I am DYING to see the hammock dash! :worship: I'll give you my towel so you can get one for me too! I've said it before and I'll say it again - I hate to run! UGGHH!!

Never did tell you all about NYE - we had such a nice time with our friends. We bought the stuff to make Sour Apple Martinis. Good but not the same as Morton's. We also found Watermelon Pucker and had those too....yummm!! I have to laugh at my friend though. Ed played dirty and kept filling her glass when she wasn't looking....she didn't realize til too late that the glass never emptied! She is such a light weight....actually crawled on her hands and knees to the bathroom at one point!! She took it well and handled everything fine. Just couldn't walk for a bit...one drink and she is LITERALLY under the table! She's such a trooper!

Went back to weigh in today at LAWL. I'm definitely up a few pounds but nothing that can't come off with some hard work and will power. So, we are back on the wagon and ready to charge!! Treadmill, anyone???

I think I am down 2 pounds - we don't have a reliable scale here at home. My pants fit better - but my true goal is less about pounds and more about getting in shape again. I need to be hounded to go to the gym - I couldn't tday because Catrina got pink eye and I had to run home and tomorrow I go see the Chiropractor because I messed up my back this weekend carrying Catrina around at the museum.

So, everyone, bug me Wednesday if I say I just can't get to the gym - OK

:thewave: WAY TO GO ABBY, SARAH, LINDSEY & TOM - AND GREAT JOB #1 CHEERLEADER AND SOCCER PAL JULIE!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mketting, or someone else, were you asking about Carnival in st. Maarten while we were there???

Carnival is in April on the Dutch side - so I think we will miss it. We will be there in May.

Today is my explore what we will be doing in Sint Maarten/Saint Martin day:

Biggest Loser WI- down 3.6 lbs BUT....keep in mind that these were GAINED over Christmas so really I haven't made any downward progress....YET! And I am with Castlegazer-my weight loss efforts have all been for the wrong reason in the past. My goal has always been on losing pounds regardless of how I feel. This time, I really want to get in shape. Anyway-I am considering signing myself up for the Disney half marathon for next January-nothing like a little PRESSURE  to get the ball rolling.

Suzie and Julie-Pat played lacrosse with a "geriatric" league a few years back and he was never so sore in his whole life. They always did stupid things like play younger teams to see if they "still had it".....he was always bruised and scraped....it was just like college all over again. They just don't know when enough is enough...

Katie bear has soccer today at 1:20-indoor facility that is colder than outside. So I need to bundle up and get going!
CG- I was doing the same thing last night re: St. Maartin. Last year we went to LeGallion beach-NOTHING special, but we were the only ones there all morning-except a few nude sunbathers-HGP took a picture we will share later.... I am thinking about Marigot this time.
Have a great day everyone!
Jennifer

I had a private tour lined up which I never finalized because I didn't want to e-mail the lady my credit card information - even with multitudes of good references - just seemed bad to me. So, I have been thinking about what else to do - including just doing the DCL excursions. I like the See and Sea excursion that takes you to Grand Case for a semi submarine tour and then to Marigot. My goal is to get to Grand Case and Marigot - but to also get to a beach and do some quick shopping in Phillipsburg - I think I may have too many goals.

Has anyone done the beach right in Phillipsburg? Everyone on the cruise board seems to say its OK - lots of bugging vendors, but OK as beaches go, plus really easy to get to via the water taxis.

I was thinking that doing the DCL excurion in the morning would be good for the kids - then going over to Philipsburg in the afternoon may not be too bad.

OK - new question, what is everyone thinking about for St. Maarten - now just St. Martin everyone, I will ask about St. Thomas later as I have that one worked out and quite a few of you said you wanted to do that too (coral world and coki beach) - again, we'll chat about this later - I am one track minded right now.

CG - We are thinking of doing the Duck Tour in the morning and then going to Great Bay Beach in the afternoon. My DH wants to rent jet ski's and from everything that I have read it is a good place to do it. I am hoping that the kid's will enjoy the duck tour and even..God forbid.. learn something about another country. This is my feable attempt to reduce my guilt for taking them out of school!

I am not too worried about my daughter because she is only in third grade, but my son is in middle school. It's a little tougher to take them out of school. But, due to scheduling and cost savings it just makes more sense to take this vacation in April. What can you do? Family time is just as important!

Last time we went to the beach right in Philipsburg and had an AWESOME time! While we are going to try and duplicate it again this year, I'm sure it probably won't be the same, but we are still going to have a ROCKIN TIME!!!.

This is why it rocked for us:
1.) We were able to get off the ship and walk to the beach so we didn't have to pay for a cab or water taxi...since we were traveling with a two year old we couldn't really do any of the excursions and didn't want to leave her behind.

2.) We were able to score chairs and beach umbrellas for around twenty bucks (two chairs, one umbrella).

3.) The beach is located right behind the main shopping drag so we were able to leave the kids with the Dads and score some fake Gucci, Prada and Kate Spade purses...then it was the guys turn to shop for Cuban cigars. We also bought these cute sarong/halter type outfits for the girls to wear to Tropical night (it was the same night).

4.) Our waitress (Anna from Sweden) from the bar on the beach delivered us our beer :drinking1 in the ocean (El Presidente beer...three for five bucks)!

5.) Plenty of sunshine, :sunny: plenty of sand, plenty of salt water, close to the ship, close to shopping, not too crowded. :crowded:

6.) It was Pango's 39th birthday and he was celebrating it in Paradise with his beautiful wife, lovely daughter and awesome friends (us)!!!

On the walk back to the ship, we stopped at this cool outdoor, open-air, deck/patio bar (it was called the Reggae Cafe...I only remember the name because Tom & Pango bought t-shirts) that Anna from Sweden recommended...her boyfriend was the bartender there so he served us up a few more drinks (we really needed them for the walk home :rotfl: ).

While there were plenty of locals to hound us "hey pretty lady I braid your hair?", "hey pretty lady you buy necklace?", "hey pretty lady you need sarong?", we had fun bargaining with them...and we did end up buying some necklaces (for the girls, Tom & Pango), a sarong (for me), a tropical shirt (for Tom)...

It was probably the day that started what became our motto for the cruise TDS (in other words: this doesn't s*ck)!!!

I totally remember this story now - Sorry to make you go through it again. It's a great story, and I am sure day, though. You will have the castlegazer family joining the ranks on the beach too now. We will all have to have a party in the afternoon! I think we will do the semi-submerged excursion to Grand Case and Marigot in the morning and then go to Philipsburg - this sounds like it will accomplish everything I want to do.

Since everyone seemed to fall apart over the holiday and we have some new "contestants" I thought we should start over. Here are the results from part one.

Once I get everyone's results and the new joiners results I will post a brand new start.

I'm thinking about Divi Little Bay Resort. I like that it's pretty close to the ship (less than 10 min taxi ride), there is a little bit of shopping, lots of water sports options (including parasailing and jet skis) and sounds like it's not crazy like Orient. Has anyone else considered or visited this resort?

Hey, CONGRATULATIONS to all your "losers!" Keep up the good work!!!

I have considered it too. It seems very nice - a little less picturesque - but nice.

I think we have a winner in our itinerary cram session today. My husband and I just decided that the See and Sea excursion would be great for the kids, allow me to see Grande Case and Marigot (two of my goals) and allow us to see fish (snorkeling goal modified). It also allows us to get back to the ship by lunch time, and then hit the beach in Philipsburg (and Guavaberry Emporium - a must do).

OK - I am relieved - St. Maarten has been a tough one for me for a while. We have been only once and we loved it sooo much, but really wanted to see the island more. It's very weird that we will be doing an actual excursion - especially knowing that its a total rip off compared to booking this excursion on our own (I have their web site), but we all change when traveling with wee ones - and we want to be a little safer than we normally are in ports on our last cruises where we just winged it by the seat of our pants and had a blast but in every instance it could have gone terribly wrong, and in one instance did when our taxi broke down on that super steep hill over to Megan's Bay.

OK - can't tell you how relieved I am right now.

By the way, for those of you with older kids - we LOVED the Golden Eagle Catamaran cruise. It was very, very cool.

Good Morning from Traverse City Michigan, another night in a hotel and I did not sleep at all, I am so used to sleeping next to the Queen that I don't do well any more on my own. It is sort of funny because I never shared a room when I was growing up and Jules never had a room to her own, but I sleep terrible when alone and she has her best sleep sometimes when I am gone.

I saw all the posts about St. Marteen, I think that this time we will at least take the water taxi down to the beach, last time we were on the right side when facing the beach, but BowTie said that on the left side is where you could rent the Jet Skis and I think that would be a lot of fun. A funny little story, Pango and I went into the cigar shop and the guy asked if we needed any help, of course Pangs said "no", but not me I ask "where are the Cubans" the guy just looked at me and said "they are all cubans nobody comes in here and asks for anything else", so now I know. If we do go back to the Regae Cafe I think we will go back to the ship first, and leave the kids in the clubs before going back, it is only about a 5 minute walk from the ship.

Alright have to get up call my princesses before they are off to school and get done with my appointments up here so that I might be able to head home at a decent time. Have to be back in time for Sarahs second grade sampler, like a variety show for all the second grade classes, I am sure she will be the star of the show, at least that is where my video camera will be pointed.

BTW we only have 11 weeks left until we head to Disney Vero Beach for Spring Break, so I think that means we only have 109 days until the cruise is that right?

I totally understand this! I don't know why, but it seems the best sleep I get is once Ed leaves for work in the mornings. Very strange....

Awww! How fun! Get some still photos and post 'em. We'd love to see!

I'm so lost on the beach excursion thing. I almost feel like saying, "Someone just book the things! If they are scheduled, we will be there!" I just can't seem to wrap my head around these shorex's this time around. Gotta get my head out of the clouds and back down to home.

Tom, have a safe drive home and enjoy being home! Maybe you can get a nap later....

Gotta finished getting Tori ready for school. Bye for now!

Tom , I definately plan on trying to drop the kids off in the afternoon so I can recreate my "stumble down front street" doing all the rum tastings. That was FUN! We really had a good time last time we were in St. Maarten and apparently we were not alone in this assessment.

OK - where were you all when I needed you - I worked through lunch - unable to go to the gym! ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so the guy who opens Iron Chef is nuts.....he bites into a yellow pepper like it is an apple! Yikes.

Anyway-we had quite an eventful day. I drop Katie Bear off to school at 9 and head to Target and Lowes! My goal was to set up an awesome photo studio for my jewelry! Mission Accomplished! But.....I left my cell phone at home and felt this wierd PANG around 9:45 that I better get home, something has happened. I get home to no less than 11 messages. The first message was from Kate's school....

"Kate's had an accident you need to come over now....She's....well.....you need to just get here as soon as you can....."

The other 10 were from my emergency contacts wondering where the hell I was.....As if I didnt' feel bad enough.... So I race to school- a 3 mile drive which felt like a million years..... thinking from the message that she was not breathing......I get there to find out that she was carrying a bucket of paint brushes to the sink and tripped. She fell face first onto a bucket of brushes, several of which went into her eye lid. Thankfully, she was very lucky, the brushes broke the skin of her lid but didn't damage her eye in any way. So-at 9:45, she was home for the day, having snacks and watching Dora-happy as a clam. Meanwhile-because the Director of her school couldn't get a hold of me, they had my husband on his way(from Delaware), my parents from 30 miles away(separately mind you)...my dad was at his office, and my mom was coming from home. The moral of the story, don't leave your house without your cell phone......

Needless to say- we had a crazy day. Pat came home anyway bc he was sick to his stomach at the directors description of the injury..... These things I swear only happen to us! :scared:

I ate a pop tart tonight hoping to make myself feel better! It didn't!!! Take care all, good night.
