Julie , We typically go with a large group of friends that have RV's , we have not purchased one yet , maybe in 2 years since we go often in the summer. Last year we cheated at Jellystone RV park and rented one of the deluxe cabins, that was wonderful it even had a large bathroom with a shower , I know thats not camping but we do some camping with our tent also. Do you know if there is any cabins near Cedar Point ?

Oh , my MIL decided not to take the girls off site at Disney , instead she is going to bring all of us including our friend Brian to the Dolly Parton dinner show. We love those dinner shows , especially Medievel Times, where else can we eat using our hands like that in public? We were not so crazy about the Pirate show. I am just hoping the girls will like this one. Has anyone every been to the Dolly Dinner show ?

Maria,

There are cabins at Lighthouse Point at the Cedar Point Campground. They looked beautiful from the outside. Some are lakeside and others are one row in - but they surround a nice pond and are very quiet. I just received a brochure in the mail from Cedar Point Resort - here you go.

Cabins sleep 6 and are $130-255/night
Cottages (lakfront) sleep 6 and are $140-260/night

There is also an indoor waterpark resort called Castaway Bay - rooms are $140+. this just opened in the last year or so.

There are also several hotels owned by CP, but if I would go with a cabin or cottage. They do book up early!

Julie,

Do you still go there? I think that the Millenium Force is out of this world. I don't have the guts to do the Dragster, but my husband is crazy about it.

I used to be able to go on the Witches Wheel - not anymore!

Jessica and Kyle love Cedar Point. Jessica especially loves the Iron Dragon. She was just tall enough summer before last to get on it and I think that she made us go about 25 times during the day and a half we were there.

Believe it or not, we haven't been there since '93!!! Hard to believe! Before we moved here (Lansing area), we lived in Grand Rapids for 9 years and it was about a 5 hour drive to The Point...then we started having kids and Cedar Point just didn't seem like a good idea with little ones (since the majority of the rides were 48" requirements)...then we started going to Disney and the rest they say is history! Now that the girls are older (and taller - with the exception of Abby), we definitely need to get down there and show them all the cool places that Mom and Dad used to hang out at! It really was a great summer job...the drinking age at the time was 19 (for beer) so we basically worked all day and went to the bar (about 10 different ones) every night! Aaahhh, the life of a college kid!

I wouldn't even get near the Millenium Force...I rode the Magnum back in '93 and hated it...I am more of a mellow coaster girl...love the Blue Streak and the Gemini. Thunder Canyon was the big new ride in the summer of '86 and the Iron Dragon was the big new ride in the summer of '87...I probably rode that thing 200 times that summer! We used to have to test ride the Gemini every morning to get it warmed up...eating poptarts on the Gemini...good times!!!

SOOO jealous! Ed keeps telling me about King's Island and Cedar Point. Never been to either.....Maybe we'll have to plan a trip there....hmm.....another DIS trip?!?!?!

CG - I was thinking of you this morning! Were your ears burning? Dropped Tori off at school and went to do a bit of food shopping...at BJ's! Saw the HP movies and thought of you, too! Oh, and my latest craving....BJ's brand Oriental Mix!!!! Love it! Can't get enough of it! Thank GOd the beef jerky one didn't last long! But I do love the wasabi peas in it! I have bought some from Trader Joes and Target but none are as HOT :furious: as the ones in that mix! WOOWEE!!!

Queen - (may I call you that?) Let me just say that you guys don't look a day over 35! (hee-hee!) Just kidding, you guys age well, if that's really how old you are! I would NEVER have guessed that for y'all's ages! Dang, you guys are old! :rotfl2: Guess it has to do with what Ed always says, "You're only as old as you feel". He's an eternal 12 years old by the way!

Darn it! I know there was something I was going to ask y'all, now I can't remember....I HATE when that happens!

Julie - You MUST try the Millenium. Trust me - it took several years for Ken to convince me to go, but once I went on it I loved it. It is high and fast, but very smooth. Both of my kids have gone and they love it - and Jessica is only 9!

The first time I went on the Millenium I went as a solo rider. Ken had gone with Kyle and Jessica was too young so we did something close to a "parent swap" at Disney. That way I did not have to wait long and entered from the back of the ride. Well, I ended up sitting next to this teenage boy in the second row of the ride. On the first hill I looked down and my shirt was blowing entirely up and I was exposed to the world! I don't think the kid noticed - thank God I yanked it down just before they took our picture! :teeth:

Suzie , I think you may be onto sometime. We should all plan a little trip to Cedar Point sometime. How fun would that be , and much cheaper then Disney! Hopefull we will all keep in touch after our cruise , at least here on the board. Althou you may all think we are a bit too nutty to to plan another trip with  . I'm sure the kids would love to see eachother again , kids make friends so quickly and easily.

Are you sure you yanked it down in time? I could swear that I saw your picture on flash mountain dot com!!!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well, they do say that beer :drinking1 (or in Tom's case, Crown Royal) is good for your skin, right? It really gives us that youthful glow!!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Hey all you biggest losers out there - I am going back to my original plan of just working out to lose weight. I had been soo good about the South Beach/Atkins diet thing - although, I did have a few cocktails down in Orlando - but I went off of it this past weekend due to no will power. Well, I knew that my pants went from being big on me to suddenly having some issue with my standard fair.

I went to the gym at lunch and got on the scale - I HAD GAINED 5 POUNDS!!!!! :scared1: :sad2:

SO NOT THE RIGHT WAY FOR THE SCALE TO GO RIGHT NOW!!!!!

I am sooo depressed now. I went from two Fridays ago having people say to me that I looked great, and asking me if I was losing weight - to now being back in a very bad range for me.

This was such a bad idea on my part. I need to join the spinners at the gym!!! Extreme gym measures are needed pronto!!!!

CG - I feel your pain. I can't seem to get the scale to budge. I am down 6 pounds from the first of the year, but the scale has not moved in weeks. I have been working out like crazy and my clothes do fit better, but I get so discouraged when the needle goes down 2 then up 2, down then up. It is so easy to step on the scale, not see a loss, and then lose motivation to eat right!

I figure that all I can do is keep working out and hopefully I'll start to see some progress. Whenever I do something drastic like South Beach or my favorite "the four day wonder diet," I lose a few pounds and then they come right back as soon as I start eating again.

Hang in there!

Hi gang!! First I must say.....Kings Island Rocks!! I grew up in Centerville Ohio...not that anyone knows where that is, but it is a suburb of Dayton. I had season passes to KI when I was like 12 years old. My dad worked in Cincinnati and he'd drop me off there with my friends and we'd hang there all day.....Now, let me ask you this...in 2006 would you leave your kids at an amusement park at 12??? Don't think so! We have friends with a house at Put In Bay-again I was like 12 so I can't speak of the "party island"....

Katie refuses to wear pants, turtlenecks and anything else restrictive. She is a summer girl, loves to have bare legs, feet and arms. Gotta love her little body. I guess if my body was like that I'd want to show it all the time too!

We went to the mall today and out to lunch with my mom. She is leaving on the Celebrity Constellation on Saturday, their flight leaves at 3 tomorrow so she wanted to take us out to lunch to celebrate! Really fun! Katie is honestly better today. Couldn't believe she had a temp of 105 yesterday and then nothing today. I kept her home from school for today just to be sure, but we HAD to get out of the house before we both went nuts!

I am trying a new diet this week. Not telling which one in case it doesn't work. Just saying I am giving up wine and bread....we'll see.

IT is beautiful here today, 53 degrees and sunny! I can't wait to go for a walk later.

OHSO-We have camped there....are you talking about Darien Lake or Lake George? We have rented RV's...someday I will post the pictures. Let's just say I am not a rented RV girl....I'd love my own, but ick is all I can say about the rented RV....I just pretty much drank most of the weekend to keep my mind off the digusting surroundings. It rained torrentially both times so it became a mud bath besides....

Alright- off to do some more laundry. Katie and I had a cruise wear fashion show this afternoon. We took turns standing on the toilet in my bathroom to see how good we looked in our outfits. :lmao: I am so glad I have a kid who could spend an entire afternoon looking at herself!

Take care-
PJ

:faint:

Just hit the gym!! It's my new mantra! Off to go sulk some more...... :guilty:

Suzie, I put that picture you posted of Castaway Cay up on my desktop as the background because it's just perfect to really feel like you are in the water - and you know what, it looks like that woman bending over in the middle of the picture doesn't have a shirt on!  Hopefully no one looks too hard at my screen any time soon. :o

Thats o.k because all we do is drink :drinking1 while camping . Lets just say it appears most of the people we go with have clothes on when we leave but not so after the 2nd day :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:. We camp with many guys from the police force and I think it is the only time they can let lose , please don't take that part literally ! Myself i definelty am dressed at all moments ! We bring a blender with us and make up different mixers everyday . Jellystone was perfect since during the day all the kids had fun in the stream and riding around with Yogi Bear and the wagon , plus they have tons of crafts for them , but at night it is a whole new story!

Wow PJ no wine , I can understand the bread part but no wine ?

Well I'm off to the gym , I am up to 40 minutes on the cross trainer , yippy for me , I bet if i tried to quit smoking again I could do much more . This summer I'm trying again. Look at Dana Reeve what a horrible horrible thing , and she never smoked a day in her life , how could that be ? I missed they story on her and why they think that could happen .

OHSO- If by the Dolly Parton dinner you mean Dixie Stampede we have done that a # of times in Myrtle Beach and everyone enjoys the food and the show.

OHJULIE- Same situation here now. I know I have continued to lose inches and can actually see some shape to my shoulders and arms now from the weight machines but the scale isn't dropping. I am trying to tell myself how I look is more important than what the scale says but the scale is the most concrete way to see that your efforts are paying off.

Pat- Welcome back, haven't heard from you for a little bit.

Today at work I made a chart for Jared, so he can check off all the things he has to do each morning. Charts have worked well before so I am hoping it does this time, I hate starting out the day badgering him to get ready.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBY! :bday:

I am right with you CG and others on the diet thing. I have been cruise dieting and have hit that point where the scale won't budge. I was doing so well and now it is hard to get motivated when I don't see obvious results. I only have 4 more pounds to lose to hit goal #1 but it seems like I have to lose so much more at the rate it's going.

Being from central Ohio, I grew up going to both Cedar Point and King's Island. My husband and I went last year to King's Island on a Friday during the first week of school for most kids. We literally walked on every coaster and even had the option to stay on if we wanted. We certainly felt our age when we were both worn out by 1pm. The Son of Beast shakes you so hard that you just feel pain when you get off. I can't imagine anyone going on that ride with big b**bs! OUCH!

Suzie- We received our bracelets today :thumbsup2 They are great- the kids wanted them on right away and haven't taken them off yet.

I have been shoe shopping for the trip (of which we will be at Disney walking around for 4 days) and I found the cutest croc-like shoes for Sydney's age that are made by Skechers. They are called Lady Bugs and are just adorable. My mom owns some Crocs and thinks they are the most comfortable shoes ever so I think I may get Sydney a pair. Anyone here have any Croc's for their kids and have opinions???

Oh, I almost forgot, Belle&Rellas's Dad- GO BUCKEYES- BIG 10 CHAMPS in Basketball!!!! :cheer2: JK- I'm actually more of an OSU Football fan but will support the Buckeyes in anything. I just had to mention it since you made some comments way back on the Spartans.

Mketting , I think that is what it is. DH's mom didn't tell us much about it but I know if the food is like Medieval Times we should really enjoy it.

O.K girls , I didn't want to mention this but I worked at Bally's Total fitness for a few years , just didn't want you to think OMG she worked there and she is not in that great of shape . But anyways the first 3-4 pounds you will lose would be water weight . If you are doing weight machine of coarse you will be building muscle and muscle weighs more then fat , I'm sure you know that . If you are really looking to shed the pounds the stepper, treadmill , cross trainer or elliptical will help you. I am not exactly the picture of health but at 5'8 I weigh about 134 right now but I really use to be so much smaller , 125 was perfect for me but I'm not that young anymore and it just doesn't come off that easy since my metabolism has slow so much. I'm not sure why I have been so afraid to tell you this. Oh heres a BIGGY , don't eat after about 6:00 pm I know it's hard, in fact our dinner is in the oven now .

Well off to chow and get the girls settled in . Lost is on tonight.:yay:
