4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

Are the ages on the excursions flexible or rigid?

My Connor doesn't turn 5 until June, but I was wondering if he would be allowed on the excursions to the Baths. I'm not sure if I want to go, I just want to know my options...If it is an option, I can research it more to see if it works for us.

Hi -- I just wanted to introduce myself. I waited til I felt sure we were going on this cruise. We were supposed to do an Eastern Caribbean same time last year but had a death in the family and another family member hospitalized all the week before the cruise. We decided to postpone it and go this year instead. It's been a rough year so DH and I are sooooo glad to be getting away. We are celebrating my birthday and our anniversary.
I am in my late 50's and DH is in his early 60's so we are anxious to meet up with other couples also. This is my 3rd Disiney cruise and his second. He and I did a 4 night a few years ago with Ebert and Roper. My sister and I did the eastern caribbean a couple of years ago and I really wanted DH to enjoy it also. It'll be fun seeing Tortula - I never really heard much about that island before. I got all our shore excursions done and Palo's. We love Palo's so we did dinner, brunch and tea.

Well, we hope to get to know some of you. We love all ages. We have 5 grown children and 3 grandchildren. We are young at heart and I can be a goof sometimes. I love anything Disney and we are tagging on a Disney trip the week after the cruise as I couldn't resist the getting 7 nights for a rate of 4. I've been having health issues so my goal is to get strong for the trip.:thumbsup2

I haven't read a lot of posts on this thread so I'll try to read some to catch up. Anyone wanting to reply and fill me in on this group -- please do :)

Welcome, sandyrella1010. Hope all goes well that you get to go on the cruise & Disney afterwards.

I just turned 60 December 10, My Friend just turned 59 in October. We love to cruise. Last early September we cruised to Alsaka. In the fall of 2007 we cruised the Med.

We have reservations at palo for the 4th day for breakfast, & the last night at sea for dinner.

Does the 15.00 include the tip, or is that extra.

Hi -- Tipping is not included in the extra fee for Palos....sorry :sad2:
Sandy

Ok, for the NON sewers out there, this was all done with sticky paper, and an iron, and writing tube with glitter in the color.

Paula,

Very nice job! Of course, I will wait to the last minute ...as usual..LOL!

We will not be able to finalize our plans until we make our final payment on Feb 9th..we are holding out until the last minute so it wont hurt as much. We got really lucky and held out for airfare and ended up only paying $700 round trip for the 4 of us! :cool1:

Did your family decide on your plans? I know the kids have been talking alot but I'm not sure if they have put any thought into what they may want to do.

hey Diane,
I think of you every time Casey mentions talking to Josh.
I do not think they talked about anything of tours etc.

We made reservations for:
Changed from Main seating to Late seating for dinner
Totola - Jeed Padventure 8:45
St Thomas - Atlnatis Submarie - 10:40 -1:10
Someone said about another ship being there and leaving at 1. So this will be only Disney Cruise people and then the streets will be less crowded to go shopping.:cheer2:

castaway - the stingrays.
On our first Cruise with Royal Carribean, we did a stingray out to the ocean and took like 25 munutes on rough waters that did not help me enjoy it at all and seeing the stingrays with SO MANY other boats was not fun. So being able to stand near the shore and see there creatures will be fun.

I was going to ask about the different policies on why some people could book earlier than others. So I went on and found that I could book under the Conceriege. Still have no idea what the difference is.

I wanted to book Palo High Tea, but they were gone, so I will have to ask on board about it. And I did not know when a good time was as I did not want to miss out on the dinners and special events.

You and John want to see if we can go to a brunch or dinner at Palo's together when we board the ship?

Other than that just counting down. We are going a few days early to go to Universal as we only were there once way back when they had SLIME time. And I will go next year for one day on our Disney trip for their Harry Potter/Hogwarts portion of the park that opens sometime this year.

Hope to talk to you more before the trip.

Hi, They kids clubs break at 4-7,8-9,10-12, My kids are very excited about the clubs. What is your sons name? We have 2 (5yo) Connors so far.

How'd I miss this? sheesh. sorry about that.

Aidan is my son. He turned six on Thanksgiving. My daughter, Kierra, turned 4 on New Years Eve (we're a holiday type of family) ;) .

I was thinking of the split within the clubs for activities. I re-read my info on the oceaneers club that they typically have activities for the 3-4 year olds in one group and then the 5-7 year olds in another. They are in the same area, but different focus sometimes. That's smart for the ages and interests. It splits up my kids sometimes, but at least they can find each other if they need anything. We're guessing they'd only be there 2-4 hours a day anyway and for certain things that they'd find fun.

Hi all!

For all of you lucky castaway club and concierge members out there that were able to book excursions and activities already, is there anything that's sold out already? I see High Tea is full (that's not the same as Tea with Alice right?).

My wife and I aren't planning on Palo, so I'm not worried about that, but have any of the excursions or other bookable activities sold out yet?

Thanks! 1 more week and I can book myself! Woo Hoo!!!! Then I'll be a CC member and take the fun away from some other rookie on the next cruise. :rotfl:

Hi -- I just joined the boards yesterday. I can't quite catch up on the details of the fish extender and what the process is. I don't sew but if someone doesn't mind explaining the whole thing to me I'd appreciate it. I'd like to participate.

Another idea is one that was done from a board on the eastern caribbean cruise I took with my sister a couple of years ago. Someone arranged to get those rubber type bracelets and gave them out at the port. They were all one color so we could recognize each other at least the first day or two. I forget if we had a name for our group or not. People who wanted them gave their names to that person ahead of time and then had an idea of how many to get. I'm dealing with a lot of stuff right now but if the group is interested and no one else wants to do this I can give it a try. Any feedback? Although I know many of us want time alone with our families and spouses - it's nice to be able to say high to people as your pass them on deck or at the pool. We also got groups to sit together at the clubs and that was fun. It may not be your cup of tea but I thought I would ask.

By the way we are doing the Jos Van **** Beach day in Tortula and the ferry to St Johns to snorkel and swim on Trunk Bay ( I LOVE that beach!) and the kayaking and walking tour on Castaway Cay.

I like the bracelet idea, especially in Port Canaveral. Not sure DH would wear it:confused3 Just not yellow because lots of people wear the Live Strong yellow bracelets.
FE quick recap, 2 camps, some are bringing gifts 1 per family and others 1 per person. There is a list started and I think the updated copy will be posted this weekend? I planned on 1 per person. Put gift in FE pocket that corresponds with person. Can drop off gift/gifts throughout week.
Lots of talk on FE list about people ripping down FE. Bring a Zip Tie to hold it on to Fish.
Many different ideas for gifts. I saw quite a list on FE string. Just a couple I can remember, notepads, pencils, highlighters, mints, gum, candy, antibacterial wipes, eye patch, magnets, something special from home state.
I'm currently making mine. I haven't sewn since 4H. Some basic directions on beginning of FE string. Also Tiffany on EBay will make you one. I think its under Mickey Mouse Pockets???

Hi everyone,
I'm inviting the kids to come chat and meet kids from our group that Pigletgurl started. I'm Amanda and I am 10, my brother Connor is 5.
Come chat and meet new people!!:wave2: ;) The link is on page 18. I don't have enough post to put url here.

Welcome, Sandyrella!!

I'm a CC member and I also wanted to book high tea and brunch at Palo. All the reservations for both are all gone. (Dinner is still available.) I tried booking on Sunday night (on the day it opened to CC members) and they were already booked out! :( So I'll also be trying onboard.

Tea with Alice/Wendy has to be booked onboard but I also heard it books quickly.

Fish extenders: I bought my fish extender on eBay! I sew but I'm too lazy to make one myself. ;) I got a really cute purple Little Mermaid one that looks like this one but with 2 only pockets:

Little Mermaid Fish Extender

I'm also starting to shop for fish extender gifts and costumes for Pirate Night! Is anyone else planning to dress up for Pirate Night? There is quite cute thread in the main DCL forum with people's photos and it got me all excited so now I want to dress up!

Here is a tiny picture of my boys...forced xmas photo..LOL!

How do I get it bigger??

I changed our picture from the pirate night. Kip and I dressed up but did not see any other adults from teh DISboard group so we were not going to do so again. Once less thing to pack:rotfl2:

Diane, you need to go to photobucket, is that were you have it stored at, and click on resize and the up arrow button. But where are you and John.....

A girl goes away for a day or two and things really start to get busy :cool1: :cool1: I love it!!!

Welcome Sandyrella1010! I'm the keeper of the fish extender 'club' list. I'll be sure to add you to it. :fish: :fish:

I'll post an updated list this weekend for everyone. As of tonight there are less than 15 families. I like the idea of letting everyone make it as fun as you want it to be. Surprises for families, surprises for individuals, I don't think it really matters.

I like the bracelet idea. It is fun to "know" a few folks. Last cruise, we enjoyed meeting up with folks every now and then and sharing stories of what we had done.

Til the weekend ------

Darn it! The first time I tried.. They were HUGE (that was last night) this time they are tiny! I have the in the bucket place and I click on the resize and I change it to the larger size, safe the changes then I paste it and I get a small picture...UGH!!!!!!

We just booked 2 nights at WDW after the cruise. Figured as long as we're in the neighborhood.... :drive: we might as well let the kids have some fun.

Anyone else spending some time before or after?

Man is it pricey to just do 2 days there. Tickets don't start lowering in daily prices until you get past 4, so we'll just suck it up. We plan on making this a very leisurely stay and won't use a gameplan. At least with all the characters on the cruise, we won't have to worry about getting any in the parks.

Here's the the 12 week dance!!! :cool1: :cheer2:
