4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

If you are a betting person than it may pay to wait on the Euros. Lisbon as well as Greece are having troubles with their budgets while Spain and Italy could be right behind. This might have a negative effect on the value of the Euro and drive down its cost vs. the dollar. It has dropped today and is projected to have problems in the next few months. Every little bit helps.:woohoo:
Also it was told to me last time in Barcelona to agree to a price before getting into a taxi otherwise the price of that ride could escalate and the driver could take the long way around. Just like the horror stories that come out of Kennedy airport on drivers taking the "expensive" way to Time Square.:scared1:
Barcelona has a great subway that we used last trip and it is quite easy to get around and takes you right downtown quickly and cheaply. People were quite helpful on directions.
WELCOME All NEW Shipmates!:cheer2:

Hi Lynne,

Is there somewhere we are suppose to check the name tags?

Also can you send me a pm or post where you purchased the lanyards from? I know a group going on another cruise who may be interested in ordering some for their cruise.

Got my docs yesterday. For the U.S. they now come though regular mail.....they no longer send them UPS.
Thanks, Carol

The only name I've got for you is Carol (check the above post). If you click on the > sign next to my name in the quote and it will take you there (I didn't know that until recently).

Are you serious or are you kidding me? :goodvibes

No, unfortunately I am not kidding you. It was his idea, not mine. I still maintain he should have come up with something more inventive. He has followed me on a number of forums and always registered as DH of whatever my forum name is on the forum. He no longer posts here - or should I say not at the moment. He threatening to start posting again a bit nearer to our TA cruise. On one of the other forums, I rarely post now and he is very active, so his forum name is even more ridiculous there.

Still no cruise documents here.

That actually makes me feel better. I have done the online check in anyway and we have not booked any transfers this time round, but when we cruised on NCL last year, we never got any luggage tags and that caused a major headache at the port. At least there we could plead our case with the porters in English as we sailed out of Southampton. I don't fancy having to do the same in Barcelona as I don't speak Spanish.

Welcome to the new cruisers........

I too am waiting for my cruise docs, still nothing in the mail........

My niece and I both received our docs yesterday - we're not too far away from FL - Disney and we all have zip codes that start with "3"

We received our travel documents here in Canada on Monday. They arrived by FedEx. This is our first ever cruise and we are beyond excited!!! :cool1:

Also, we had booked a cat 12 guaranteed cabin and what I had originally thought was a cat. 12 room based on the Disney Website room assignment - turned out to be a cat. 10 ... so it seems we were "dusted" too :yay:

Wondering if anyone out there has put any thought into the best way to contact home. I don't know much about International calling cards... any thoughts on this would be really helpful for me ! Thanks :)

If you have a Bell, Aliant or Telus calling card, make sure you have the Canada Direct access numbers for the our ports of call. This way if you need to make a call home from a port, you will be charged the Canadian long distance rates not the local payphone rates which can be unbelievably higher.

http://infocanadadirect.com/

I didn't bother with the access numbers last year and when I had to call my DH from San Juan (thinking how much could it be?) I got a $75 bill for a call that didn't go through. I disputed it and got a credit but what a hassle!

We also received our papers yesterday via our TA.

Ok, I know I am late in that I have not booked any of the excursions, or palo ressies....

Good news for people like me.... Palo brunch from groups of 1-2 is available on May 1 and May 4!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Welcome new cruisers. Looking forward to meeting everyone and the adventure.

Side note on my quick Disneyland trip.... What an amazing trip, met imagineers, the voice of Goofy, an original Mouseketeer, rare disney characters for photos, and get this, you could drink in Fantasyland, they had bars for the party there. Too bad I don't drink,

I got to see the Sherman brothers window dedication the next day and had lunch at Club 33. I am still pinching myself to believe it happened.

Now I am focused for this trip!!!

Are you notice that the eruo is going down? Still waiting to buy as I think they will drop more.

Hi Rob, I saw you in a picture in the blog - it looked like a fun party and a great unique experience :goodvibes I'm glad D23 has done things like this, I just hope it keeps doing them and makes more things available to others (I've heard the sign up for some things is crazy!)

It looks as though the Palo brunches have all been booked (hopefully we'll be able to get a spot when we get on board) I hope you got what you wanted?

I'm bringing friends!!! I just added Michael and Lamar Lopresto and Donald Voorhies-soon I'll have half of my small town on board!:yay:

anyone else still waiting for cruise docs? we still haven't received ours and looks like others have. wonder if they just got lost in the mail.
