4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Just joined the Dis and not sure how to operate this piece of machinery. I hope I'm doing this correctly. My wife and I will be on the TA and med cruise I am interested in the tours that salboz referred to but I cannot email or PM because I have nine more posts to go. We are looking for tours for Pompeii, Rome and Pisa.

Hi, I didn't understand the PM and didn't qualify for it when I posted so all the people that indicated an interest, had other plans by the time I was eligible. They say just post anythin, such as still looking forward to the cruise, etc. just to get the posts in. Meanwhile, you can email me at salbozer@yahoo.com as there is still just the 2 of us.

I've been watching and reading the posts for a couple of weeks and there has been a lot of useful info. It took me til this morning to work up the courage to jump in. DW and I are planning to do some sort of excursion or tour in each port. I am wondering about currency conversion; can we convert our US dollars on-board ship? Also, does the ships wireless internet only reach the designated areas or has anyone ever connected from their stateroom?

WELCOME JSASSY:yay:. Auntilynne is our/my boss and is great on the organization. She can answer most questions and most posters can also give you any info you may need. Yes you can convert dollars onboard but it is limited to,if I remember correctly about $100 or so. Plus they only have a certain amount so when they run out we must wait to they replenish in the next port, That is what happened in 2007 when we did the Disney cruise in the Med.For all I know it could be all different this trip. It is always good to have some pocket Euros for small purchases and tips for tour guides. I don't know about the internet for I'm on vacation and I just wish to hide away from my earthly duties and immerse myself in the "Old World." Hope to see you aboard.

Just got back from Cruise Clothes shopping :cool1:

Last week I bought a formal...today I bought a bunch of cute shirts and a pair of awesome, totally not sensible leopard heels...but I love them. I love shoes...shoes don't care what you weigh or what size you are

You all will surely see the leopard shoes several times because I have to justify their purchase...I might even wear them to the pool :rotfl:

Ok, I'm having a hard time with daily outfits-short or long sleeves-capris or long jeans-skirts and sweaters?? The avg. highs and lows make it look a little chilly-any thoughts?

Our plans - for the boys it will be mostly jeans or khakis because of restrictions at religious sites of no knees visible -- but on those days that we won't be visiting a church or mosque or temple - or whatever -- then they'll probably wear shorts if the weather is in the 70s which it most likely will be. For tops - we'll do layers -- short sleeves and light weight cardigans for me - I'll wear mostly capris on the bottom or skirts (tiered or broom stick type - so they're rather long and cover my knees ;)) I do have a couple of pairs of slacks that I plan on bringing - I already have my outfit picked out to wear for Rome :lmao: Kinda anal huh? :rotfl: The guys will also probably wear tshirts or short sleeves with either a light weight jacket or sweat shirt. This way if it gets warmer as the day progresses - it's easy to take sweatshirt/lightweight jacket off and tie it around their waist :thumbsup2 Hope that helps :)

Thanks-I'm an over planner-usually, I have to worry about the whole family-but this is a girls trip and my friend is bringing everything! I'm trying to pack in a more responsible manner-yeah, right! It's hard to pack when you have excursions and dinner and you don't know what the weather will bring...t

I received my fe today and it is really cute. I got it on ebay and the woman did a great job. I admire anyone who can sew.

New cabin number is 7618.
