4/20/2008, April 20, 2008 - Anyone with us?

We'll be with ya!

I just came on looking for a thread about the 4/20 cruise. My Ds is going to be 11 and he is started to get a feel for forums. (he is a Nintendo fanatic). I was wondering if anyone had 10-12 years old willing to post to each other. let the kids get to know each other before the cruise.

This will be DS's 3rd Disney cruise, so he can help out any kids that don't know what to expect.

Just want to say that my family and I will be there at 3pm. It will be me (Gus), DW (Elsa), DS (Adrian), and DS (Nick). Adrian will be in a wheelchair/stroller. We're staying in room 6500. Adios...:yay:

Sorry we missed the meet at the Promenade Lounge. We got our luggage early and were unpacking and forgot all about it until, about 3:30.

I hope everyone had a great cruise!!

So, did everyone have fun? This was probably our best vacation ever! The kids were mostly cooperative, and Dh and I didn't quarrel hadly at all!

My DD had a great time running around with RogerRams DD. I think they became good friends. She is a sweet girl, Roger!

The best part of the cruise for me was our tablemates. I think we made lifelong friends with the family we were seated with. It was single mom and her dad and 9yo DD. They live in Ct, so we are only a few hours from each other. My kids and her DD became FAST friends. We even hung out at CC together, on both days. Nothing we planned, but we ran into each other both days, and just kind of stayed together. We laughed as if we had known each other for years.

Ok, my Banana boat ride was not as I had hoped. I did not find it fun at all. My 8yo DS was scared to death, I had a hard time holding on, I DID end up in the water, with my 11yo DS. (That was kind of fun, because the ocean was nice and warm) They had given my a life jacket that was too big, so the guy had a hard time pulling me back onto the banana. I figured it was my size, but he insisted the life jacket was the wrong size. Either way, I was so embarrassed. DS11 was having a bit of anxiety in the water, but I got him to calm down once he realized that he would be picked up. DS8, who was already scared, almost freaked when mom went in. Not a fun excursion. I thought I literally RIPPED the muscle in my arm, from trying to hold on.

After the cruise, we went to WDW for two nights, staying at the AKV. The new baby Zebra was right outside our room. The kids had so much fun watching the baby Zebra run around getting into mischevious, they were not interested in the parks. We did manage a full day at Epcot Thursday. Friday was a 1/2 day at AK, then the kids wanted to go back to the resort to watch the animals from our balcony.

I was so glad to meet Ann Marie, Pam, Heidi and Roger, with their families. It is always nice to have a face with a name. Pam, was that you saying hi to me at guest services? I realized after you left. I was stressing because we had a problem with our credit card. So I am sorry if I seemed like I did not know you.

Hi Everyone! I have to say -- HUGE HUGE Thumbs Up for DCL!!! :thumbsup2

It was our first cruise and I was so afraid that we (mostly DH) would get seasick. Luckily, no one did. :goodvibes

Our trip was a surprise for our girls and they really didn't know anything at all until we pulled up to the Security Officer at the Port and we turned and said "Oh, did we forget to tell you -- we're going on a Disney Cruise now!" You want to talk about shock -- they started screaming and laughing and carrying on - it was great!! The woman stood outside the car laughing and waiting for them to settle down so she could check our names on the manifest - she couldn't hear us over the girls! LOL It was so cool. We won the cool parents award from our kids that's for sure. Well, for this month anyway ;) Two of them are teenagers so I am sure that will change soon enough.

The rest of our trip was AMAZING!!!!! Beyond Amazing!!! I am so thoroughly sold on DCL. I don't think we will ever vacation any other way. How lucky were we to have that extra day at CC thrown in, huh?!

I was surprised at one thing though -- the food. Our best dinner was at Animator's the first night. Other than that, even our Palo dinner was so-so. I am not a food snob exactly, and I did enjoy the food we were served - it was so pretty! LOL But it wasn't as first rate as I expected. Sadly, we missed the Pirate Night dinner and I think that was likely to be the dinner we would have enjoyed more than anything. Oh well, guess we will have to go back and do it all over again!

Did anyone see other folks with magnets on their doors? Our floor had two doors with magnets (the ones we make, not the ones saying Welcome Home Castaway Cay Club or Disney Vacation Club) - those two doors belonged to us! No one else seemed to have had any at all. I was surprised.

So ... was the cruise everything the first time cruisers expected it to be? I know that it went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. And I will say that it felt longer than it actually was. It didn't zoom past us as I fully expected (yaaayy). I was sure that the four days would zip past and that I would be off the ship way too soon. Granted, I never wanted it to end, but it was just so lovely. It was paradise and I can't wait to go back!

Hi Marie!

We just got home a few hours ago. We surprised the kids with a few nights in Disney. Yes we had a great time. This was our first cruise but definately not our last! It was wonderful to meet you all as well.

Becky had a great time with Sara. I knew after they met, she would be having a good time. She even missed one of the evening dinners, which is hard to believe because she is always staying with us and not usually going off to do her own thing.

I remember one thing. I was on top deck watching the celtics playoff game on the big screen and I hear them running by me. All I hear is Becky saying ,"Hi dad..bye,dad". then they were off again to karaoke. I wish I had seen that. Sarah must have really worked on her to get her to sing together.

Now it is time to start planning the next cruise.
