4/15/2007 Anyone?

Hi poohssmum,

We just moved my son into a new apt. near Harvard Square this weekend. He loves it there. It's such a great area.

It sounds like you have a great trip planned. We can only stay a few nights at WDW since DD has to get back to school. I'd love to stay longer. We are celebrating a few milestone birthday's on our trip as well.

Anyone hear about the proposed DryDock changes to the Wonder? They sound REALLY cool. Not only are they making some of the updates like they did last year to the Magic (dumbotron, larger health club, changes to spa) they are doing new things too ... adding a new splash/fountain area for the non-pottytrained set, adding waterfalls, teak decks and cushioned chairs to the quiet cove pool :thumbsup2

Since we've done 3 cruises on the Magic, I was SO afraid of a let-down on the Wonder (not because of the ship ... just because of the length of the cruise) ... NOW, I've got so much to look forward to

I read about that. It's exciting! I feel the same way you do having sailed the Magic before. Four days seems so short, but with all the new upgrades, it will be fun to explore. :yay: We sailed the Magic before the upgrades, so this will all be new to us. When did you sail her last?

We were last on the Magic in November of 2005. We've actually had changes before each of our last 2 cruises.

Our first cruise was in May of 2003, when they still had the ESPN Club where the stack is located now, and the dueling pianos were in Diversions ... this is actually one change that I really miss. Some of our most magical memories happened during the family piano show.

The November 2004 cruise had Diversions turning into the Pub, the Stack being created for the teens and Cove Cafe opening up by the Adult pool.

November 2005 saw the addition of the Dumbotron, the increased size of the health club and spa areas and the addition of Ocean Quest.

:confused3 How many days are left :rotfl2:

I can't wait to see it all. :woohoo:

Has anyone booked flights yet? I'm still hoping the fares go down. Right now they're too high. I don't want to wait too long and be stuck with a higher price, or worse, not finding a flight at all.

Tommy and I had talked for months about possibly driving down to Norfolk to see the Wonder in Drydock but it didn't work out. My trailblazer has been in the shop for 10 days, UGH, and with all the rain we've had here we didn't want to make the trek down in Tommy's squirley little pick-up. It's fortunate that the Norfolk area DIS friends have been on the ball with lots of pictures and reports! We're disappointed but the good news is we leave for WDW next Saturday!! :cool1:

We booked ours a couple of weeks ago. The prices were high, but since that week is a school vacation week here in Mass., we knew they weren't going to go down.

There are only so many flights each day and the first flight we tried to book only had two open seats, so flights were already starting to sell out. We ended up booking a late flight down on Friday evening.

I still keep checking for flights. The prices on American have jumped way up already. :crazy2: I guess we'd better book soon. DH still thinks if we wait prices will go down. I think if we wait, we'll end up driving since there will be no more available seats!

Sharon, have a great time in WDW. Tell us all about it when you get back.

I leave for London on Thursday. I can't wait!

OMG I'm so jealous I can't stand it!!! I love London. You have a great time too! :wave2:

Thanks! I've never been to Europe, so I am really looking forward to it. :woohoo: I am going with a friend whose sister-in-law lives there. We are staying with the kids while the parents go to Hong Kong for a week to find housing and schools for another job transfer. The kids are in school all day and are going to activities or play dates after school so we can sight-see all day. It should be great!

This is a busy travel month for me. The day after I return from London, I chaperone a trip with DD's high school marching band to Hershey, PA for 3 days. The day after I return from PA, I fly to San Diego on a business trip with DH for 5 days! I will be so exhausted when I get home from CA, but I know I will have a great time. The Wonder will be so relaxing in April. :goodvibes

YAY!! :cool1: This will be our first ever cruise. Besides me and DH,we will also be traveling with my parents and my two girls DD(5) DD(8). Does anyone else have kids my girls ages?

Danielle

Welcome Danielle! My grandaughters will be with us. They will be 13 and 7.
It's also the first cruise for us!

My family and I are so excited :cool1: We just hope everything goes smoothly.

I cant wait :cool1: i just hope everything goes smoothly. I'm so nervous about flying out and getting to the boat on time.

Are you flying out the day of the cruise? Where are you flying from?

We usually fly in the day before just in case, but if your flight is early, you should be fine. I haven't even booked my flights yet. We will probably fly form one of the NY airports, but I'm hoping the prices come down. Right now they're crazy! :crazy2:

I'm actually leaving shortly for London and probably won't be at a computer for a couple of weeks. :sad2: I'll check back when I return.

Hi everyone,
i am sorry to crash your thread, but I have some news about the Wonder and wanted to share with you since you are cruising on her right after i do.

I had heard rumors about some changes in the entertainment on the ships so I wrote to DCL and got confirmation today.
They didnt give an exact date, but it was implied right after drydock:

There will be NO house band.

This means :
NO live music at the sail away party
No live music in the evening in Wave bands ( adult club)

This upset me very much. I believe for the price we pay for our cruises we are entitled to some live music. They have always had this and are now taking it away. I think DCL is just trying to save a buck!! At our expense!!!
There will be a DJ and CD's playing. If I wanted to listen to Cd's I could of done that at home!!

Please dont misunderstand me. I LOVE~DCL!!!! we have done 12 cruises and have 3 more booked!!! I have never complained about the high prices, nobody twisted my arm to cruise with DCL. we do it because we love it.
But I believe them taking away our live music is wrong!!

There will be a duo still in the Promenade lounge and a piano player. If you are a repeat cruisers you will understand what I am talking about.
The Magic still has a house band.

we can still make a difference before you cruise if we let DCL know how wee feel. DCL does listen to it's guests.
Proof can be found on the forum here. A couple months ago there was athread where people were upset because Roy disney had been replaced inthe Golden Mickeys by Whopi. People wrote letters by the hundreds and guess what?? 2 months later, Roy was back.
They will listen.

PLease take 5 minutes and tell them how you feel, maybe this isnt important to you, that ok, but if you enjoy that live music in the evening, Please let them know. Have your spouse write, your teens, aunts, uncles anybody who will help us get this changed.

www.dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

or go to their web site and click on contact us.

Thankyou so much for reading my letter, I hope it is something of interest to you, i didnt mean to waste your time or make you upset.
again, I am sorry to crash your thread, but i felt very strongly about this.

thanks,
mom x4,grandma x4

We live in NY,so thats were we fly out from. DCL is booking our flight, and we are flying out the day of  Hopefully all goes well with our flight.
