4/14/2012 7-Nights Western Caribbean on the Fantasy

Looks like a good room location with good reviews! It was hard for me to give it up! But, I think I like the surprise of the GTY. Hope it works well for you!

Thanks! Now just hoping something opens up in that Cat. that my aunt can book. She'd like to downgrade as well.

BTW, how did u get GTY?? Did it actually have Cat 8B GTY as an option? Or did you just not choose your particular room, therefore it's considered GTY?

I've read many threads about GTY bookings, and I honestly have no idea what it means. :confused3 Can someone help out and explain what it is and why it is a good option? :teacher: Thank,

Final payment made today. 136 days to go and boy are we getting excited. :dance3:

I went to the website and search without logging in. I was surprised when it came up as everytime I look there are just verandas. The category showed up as 8B GTY and I booked it. There was no option to choose a room.

For the other poster, GTY is basically a guaranty. If you book it you will get a cabin in at least that category but maybe better. In exchange you do not get to pick your stateroom. I booked an 8B GTY. So, we will be assigned a stateroom that is at least an 8B. I am taking the gamble, that since there are only verandas available that we might be assigned to one. We will be happy in 8B, but I like the possible surprise of something better. Hoping our chances are good because only verandas are available for families of 4. We'll see.

DCL must have just opened up some Category 4's. We've been trying to upgrade to that and there haven't been any available. Surfing around last night and a whole bunch in 4A-4D popped up. We had to do GTY but chose a 4C so it shouldn't really matter where the room is.

We were booked in an 8B, room 9158, which we sailed on the Dream, great room, great location, we just wanted the verandah this time.

So excited!!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the response Tinknalli. I now understand and see how it can be beneficial.:worship:

Hi everyone! I need to make an announcement. I had to canceled our cruise. We realized we wouldn't be able to pay it all. So we had decide it to postpone until April 2013. Instead we will be spending Christmas at Disney.
Thank you everyone for your help. I hope all of you have a blast at the cruise. Hope to meet in another cruise. :lovestruc

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
BOYS AND GIRLS!
WE SET SAIL FOR OUR 2012 FANTASY CRUISE IN 18 WEEKS! THAT IS 126 DAYS!

:banana::banana::banana:

Hello everyone ...

:welcome: to all of the new families!!

I wanted to let you all know that I will be reviewing and updating the list today and tomorrow around work when I am able to do so. :surfweb:

We have been dealing with some serious family issues that almost made us have to cancel the cruise but we discussed it last night and are going to try desperately to stay on target for this sailing.

Can't believe we are so close now ... hope everyone had a wonderful close of their summer and are enjoying the beautiful fall ... minus the freak snowstorm!!!!

Kat

Hope you can make it! Any update on the FE? Current numbers would be great to to know if I currently have enough or need to keep going!

Does it look like a large or small group? Mix of kids? Etc.

Hi all! Let's get this thread a moving. We are a few months away from our cruise and a few weeks away from when Platinum and concierge guests can start booking reservations and excursions. So, let's show how excited we are. On past cruises, I found that it makes the cruise more fun when we already "know" some of the people, besides our family, who are sailing with us. So, here are a few questions to start us off.

  1. What are you most looking forward to?
  2. What island are you looking forward to visiting?

  1. What are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to spending time with my family, relaxing, and just being on the ship.
  2. What island are you looking forward to visiting?
Since I have not been to any of the islands, except for Castaway Cay, I am looking forward to visiting all of them and seeing what each has to offer. I am trying to figure out whether we will do excursions or tour the islands on our own.

What about you?

I am most looking forward to experiencing our first Disney Cruise with me kids and watching them.

Would have to say looking forward to Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay the most.

We are first time cruisers. Looking forward to spending a great week together as a family. Hoping for an island tour/Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, tour of the ruins in Costa Maya and two great beach days in Cozumel and Castaway Cay. Cannot wait for my daughter to know about this trip in 14 days!!

First time cruises - I am sure you and your family will have a good time. There is so much to do for the entire family.

Not our first cruise, but it is our first Disney one. It's been a while because the last on a cruise on Carnival was not terribly enjoyable. Hoping Disney meets our expections, and thinking it will. We have had many great WDW trips!
