This cracks me up! We have family in Orlando as well but are not going to take them up on their hospitality this time as it would be for such a short time, gives me an excuse to come back to Orlando sooner!

We had an inside room to Alaska a couple of years ago and the only thing I didn't like was waking up in complete darkness. Then I discovered the bridge cam channel! I'd leave it on with the sound off. Its just like a porthole, but square! :thumbsup2

yup yup yup That is exactly what we do! I guess the new Disney Ships have the virtual webcams since so many of us were doing it anyway!

We are scheduled on the DCL excursion and may consider taking the train on our own. The only reason I would consider it (with our family of small ones) is that we don't have to be back on the Magic until 10:30 PM. Plenty of time to get back...

kumquat88, You made Santa Cruz sound so delightful and tempting I told the DH we might want to look into it as well.

Is it possible that I have kept up today with all the chatter?

Probably not but I am off to bed I think.

Vacation is looking so good tonight as I stare out my window here and see more snow coming down, oh my. What a winter.

Eleasa, that is brilliant!! We purchased a 10GTY with Disney. If we do not get an upgrade, then we are going to watch the "Bridge cam" too! Hopefully, my new husband won't mind sleeping with the TV on...?! LOL :cloud9:

I booked my tickets on the airlingus website.... they have a place where you put how many bags you intend on checking for each leg..... I entered one for each of us and it showed no charge for baggage on my invoice/bill for the entire trip....(I did test the baggage counter and it would have charged me if I added another bag PP)
Joius, thank you for that information. We bought our tickets to fly Aerlingus from Paris to Chicago, so now I'm wondering... Should we call Aerlingus to see if we can add a "free" check-in bag per person? They might charge for that same baggage at the airport, right? :confused3

Speaking of calls... Has anyone used a specific brand of calling card around Europe successfully? I typically buy calling cards in Europe, but with so little time at each port, it would be convenient to pre-purchase them in the US.

We are scheduled for the DCL "Seville on your Own" excursion too. We opted to stay with the DCL group for now, largely because Disney will hold the boat, even if it's scheduled to leave at 10:30pm. Seville is about an hour and a half drive away from Cadiz.

The current train schedules are not very regular, and train strikes are not uncommon in Spain/Europe (this happened to us in Italy a few years ago). We would hate to pay for a taxi ride all the way back to Cadiz.
:sad2: VIDEO: We don't want to be this guy.

Since the WiFi does not reach the condo, I have had to resort to a poolside location for this internet connection.

You are too funny, Lynne. What I would do for a poolside office. It's 25 degrees here in Chicago, and it may snow again tomorrow. Your vacation sounds fantastic right about now! :cool2:

As a first time Disney cruiser and new to these boards, I don't know how to send a personal message. Can someone fill me in on the process?

KileyBeth..Where are you in Delaware. I'm in New Castle.

TRANSPORTATION...Kim (Delaware City) didn't you say you booked Disney air transpo? So did I. Maybe we'll be on the the same flights.

Seeing as how it is snowing again. Time for a question of the day for the book exchange crew.

What types of books/ Authors are you bringing to read?

I think I will have James Grisham, Dan Brown, David Baldacci and Greg Iles

I beleive I read somewhere on the website that the first bag is free for all international flights but....calling a live person is always a good idea if you are unsure :cool1:

Chicken Cheesesteak please!

Kiley... I have been to Delaware ...Rehobeth ......Nice Beaches! Did not shop though....Camped out in the natnl park with our boy scout troop ....

You have to post ...(I think) at least 10 times before they allow you to PM.....so say a few things about yourself :)... then you go to user CP (upper left corner of page) ...it takes you to your profile...there is a place (on the left hand side) where it says you can "send a message"... then just go from there.... hope this helps :thumbsup2

These times don't seem to ideal to try and do Seville on our own. May need to reconsider other options then or staying in Cadiz.

I believe that's because the ALVIA (high speed) trains go on sale earlier as reservations are compulsory. There's several "slow trains" (the ones that run about once an hour, and take about 2 hours each way) that aren't on the schedule yet. There's no real big rush to purchase train tickets except around holidays, so just wait a few weeks for the schedule to show the day we're there.

Oh, and I forgot to add...

There's also Bus Service between Cadiz and Seville. I believe there's several per day as well (in both directions), so there's alternatives..

Even in the rare occurrence of any sort of disruption in service, there will be alternative services running. Also, the unions are usually good about announcing when they'll strike in advance - good for planning, eh? :rotfl:

We are in the same boat...Southwest from philly friday night...(last flight of the eve) ....always the cheapest..especially when you consider baggage fees... Yay 2 free bags!

Aerlingus back ...1 bag checked..one carried.... I am working on the logistics of this ....:confused3 I did find these seriouly lightweight unwrinkleable awesome shirts this weekend that I HAD to buy.. :) of course all in the name of light packing

LOST TONIGHT!!!!!!!! Cannot wait!

Lightweight unwrinkeable shirts? Where? Where?

Has anyone seen or done the toboggan ride from Monte to Funchal?

Im wondering if its fun or just insanely foolish. Would 2 adults and 1 child be able to do it together?

Thanks!

This is all we plan on doing in Madeira.

The reviews are mixed. People either loved it or hated it. It is 25 Euros for 2 people and a little more for 3. Yes 2A and 1C can ride together.

We will take the cable car up and the tobaggans down.

Hmmm, I'm going to hit a local used book store to find some stuff, but I'm hoping to bring at least one of the following: Virginia Henley (hot romance), Jen Lancaster (sarcastically funny) or Janet Evanovich (gotta love Morelli and Ranger).

... anyone else feeling this way or am I just weird? When I saw 10 weeks I really got nervous - not only is the WDW/Cruise/Europe trip coming up, I turn 40 in 2 weeks, my oldest turns 15, will get her learners permit, I have 5 books to write and finish and not to mention my computer crashing last week and son spraining his hand, homeschooling, valentines day, other birthdays ...

---I think MOST of your issues have to deal with turning 40! Everything else is secondary!

I (Donna) was a very light sleeper and got up frequently during the night until 5 years ago when we purchased a Phillip Stein watch. Now with wearing the watch 24/7 I sleep through the night no problem.

--- BTW, if anyone has ever wondered about the Philip Stein watches ... feel free to ask us anything about them during the cruise. We both wear them 24/7. They're sold at many locations in the Caribbean, and sporadically in the US as well.

So I AM going to meet some Dis-ers friday night COOL!

---If you ARE on SouthWest out of Philly (7:15PM / Friday) ... watch for us in the terminal. I typically wear my red Disney Vacation Club baseball cap ... and look like the guy in my avatar pic. If you avoid (er, uh, MISS) us in the terminal, we are usually one of the first to board any SouthWest flight, and typically sit in the first row, whenever possible.

All of you Philly people are going to LOVE my FE gift!!!

--- So long as it does NOT clash with PHILLIES red and blue, we should be okay! On the other hand ... I am quite certain Philly locals (and Stephanie) will LOVE MY FE! :lovestruc Stephanie, please keep it secret!

--- We usually have a verandah or large porthole stateroom. Regardless, we almost always leave one of the bathroom lights on, and leave the door slightly ajar. There's always enought light to SHOW THE WAY in the middle of the night. We did the bathroom light / door ajar when we booked an inside cabin on that C-Cruise line.

Never heard of them before. Tell me, please!

Oprah featured these on her show several years ago. She supposedly spent millions of dollars researching and testing the watches. They emit a frequency which attracts and defeats electrons which are commonly found in computers, electronics, etc. The easiest way to explain it is that the "technology" sucks up the electrical impulses ... keeping them from attacking your body ... allowing your body to succomb to a more relaxed state. Many find it helps them sleep ... or sleep better. Others find they are more relaxed. They key to the results is wearing the watch 24/7 (including when sleeping, but remove when washing dishes, bathing, washing the car (anything involving water)) ... even though they are protected to 3ATM. Most people will notice *something* within one week. You likely will not notice an ON/OFF difference ... nor will you notice the difference overnight.
