Michelle needs to add her to the FE list but I can add her to the lanyard list if she wants to do that as her FE - send me an email with her DIS name (if she has one) and her email. send it to my email at akblair@charter.net

Krisann

Sent you email. She's not on the DIS yet, I'm working on converting her :rotfl2:

I thought The FE was one gift for everyone in the cabin that is why the ages and gender of the children was listed. I don't want to leave anyone out (especially a child). I guess I will give out what I have and hope it is ok. I will wait for the final list and hope I don't have to make more. Getting excited - We are going back to FL on Wednesday(from CT). Anxious to get out of the cold and snow.

I hope you make it back to FL as we are expecting snow storm Tuesday into Wednesday. Then another storm Friday into Saturday.... I like the snow but enough already!

Foreign currency

Ok, so just to make sure I'm straight here...

Madeira, Cadiz & Barcelona - Euro
Gibraltar - Gibraltar Pounds which is different than British Pounds?
Gibraltar will accept both GB Pounds and Gibraltar Pounds.

BUT, Gibraltar Pounds are not accepted in Great Britain.

From what I understand, the Gibraltar Pounds is kinda like local currency. As a part of Great Britain they also use the British Pound.

That is what I have been able to find out.

Gibraltar pounds are different than British Pounds in the sense that the Government of Gibraltar prints their own money. They are also not legal tender in the UK.

If you have British pounds, you can use them in Gibraltar freely, as the currencies are considered "at par" with one another. In fact, you may receive both British and Gibraltar pounds as change. If you're visiting the UK after the cruise, ask nicely and see if you can get change in British pounds only, since it's a bit of a hassle exchanging Gibraltar pounds once you get to the UK (you can, usually at banks, and they'll charge a fee).

Given the proximity of Spain, many places take Euros, but it might be at a less-than-optimal exchange rate. Many people come from Spain to purchase tax-free goods, so you'll also see prices in both currencies.

I got her down!

I have now realized my life-long dream of being a trouble-maker! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You are not the trouble maker - I am because I even brought it up :)

But I know I never thought about it until I traveled with someone not in my household - never even occured to me before so that is why I brought it up.

Reminder to everyone, February 1st is the deadline to sign up for he Fish Extender gift exchange.

I will do messages tomorrow in case people have missed it. Time is running out. :hourglass

If it is not too late, we'd like to be in on the FE fun! We have 2 adults and 2 children ages 11 (boy) and 8 (girl).

Ok this is the last call for the Lanyard team.

Simple: Instead of bringing FE items, you pay $30 to be part of the Lanyard FE Team. We are purchasing Lanyards for everyone that is part of the FE and all the Dis members for this cruise.

Email me at: akblair@charter.net and let me know you want to do this for your FE gift - also include your DIS name!

AHHHH! I could just scream! My old program that I used to make all of our magnets in the past is gone. I got windows 7 and can't find the disk to reload the old graphics program. What kind of software are any of you magnet makers using?

We spent 3 weeks in Southern Spain this August - including Cadiz, Seville, and Gibralter. If you have any questions about things to do I am happy to try to answer questions.

We are planning to do Seville from Cadiz on our own. Is it pretty easy to catch a train? Do you need advance reservations?

Do you think the Brits would have a problem with you handing Gibraltar to Spain so easily? I think they fought a war over this or something... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

PC Disclaimer: I mean this in the most friendly way -- I'm really not trying to be snarky. I just thought it was funny, considering The Rock's history.

Secret Mickey:

Secret Mickey is like Secret Santa. Someone/ or a couple will be assigned someone to give gifts to throughout the cruise. They will also receive from their own Secret Mickey as well. As of now, we are doing all age groups: kids, adults, couples....

So, what exactly is the difference between an FE and an SM. (I am such a newbie!)

It is easy to catch a train. My recollection is that it was $12 or so and took around an hour. I am not sure of the schedule but there were multiple trains per day.

ETA Seville is in a running with Paris to be my absolute favorite city in Europe. I love love love it. The whole Santa Cruz area around the cathedral is so wonderful. Lots of great places to eat and little shops to poke through.

Of course - Gibralter is not Spain - though firmly attached to southern Spain. Once I was there I saw exactly why Spain feels so pissy about it. It's like a teeny tiny area that some how magically doesn't belong to Spain. I'd feel pretty sour about it too.
