I would be cautious and check with DCL before trying this.

Last year, we went to various overnight ports, with embarkation the next day.

A ship being cleared for a day in port (such as for excursions) does not necessarily mean it is ready for disembarkation (with passport control, customs agents, and customs declarations).

YMMV

Woody

We had friends that had to do this last time. It was arranged ahead of time with DCL but they did do it. There was also another family who got off at the Canary Islands, again arranged ahead of time with DCL.

I was no meaning it literal...

One week from today we will be sailing on the Sapphire Princess. So we will be packing this weekend.

This will be our first time on Princess. We're looking forward to it.

Woody

We sailed the Sapphire Princess to Alaska 3 years ago. My niece got married on it. It was lovely!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Its a little pricey for what you pay for but I add the foot treatment for a little more and it seems to be more pampering they massage/exfoliate it longer than your regular Pedi
I thought it was fine...the girl was a little rough filing at first..but you should have seen my heals :) ...and she backed off after I mentioned something....It was very relaxing (after the initial foot giggles) and the polish stayed on for the entire cruise and beyond....:yay:

Thanks for the info.

Looking for some opinions please...

We are trying to decide which park to go to on Friday before the cruise. We can only go one day so trying to make the best decision possible.

We have ruled out the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. No MK bc we go to DL all of the time and they are similar. NO to HS bc there is not as much for our younger DD.

So we are down to Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Can anyone tell me why or why not they would pick one of those two parks. They both have stuff we like.

Thanks for any input/feedback!

We love Epcot as there are so many things to do but it involves alot of walking!!!! AK makes for a shorter day and we love the animals and the more laid back atmosphere. Depends on your needs for the day. Just get back to the hotel early so we can meet!!:goodvibes

Krisann. Emailed you again. Noticed on your list you did not list my mom (Ariella46) for the Lanyards, she will also be joining seperate from me. We are both on the FE list. Thanks again:goodvibes

Thank you everyone (well almost everyone :rotfl2:) for their input on where to go with our one day.

We will not be staying for fireworks. I want to leave the park by 3 to be closer to the port sooner....but DH thinks I am crazy! LOL

He was set on Epcot but now thinks AK.

DD Maddy loves animals and stuff.

Both girls loved the Kim Possible thing.

We "snuck" Maddy on Everist 2 times b4 a CM measured her and she was just under the line. Her little heart was broken that she could not ride a third time. Now she would def be tall enough.

We love the Nemo show. The girls are huge fans of musicals.

DH brought up a good point that AK is the hardest one to get to. We normally stay on property and the bus rides to AK drive me crazy. We stayed in the Epcot area last time so it was so nice to walk to Epcot or take the boat. So maybe I am leaning more towards AK for the fact that we can drive there.

Thanks again for all of the input!!!

Don't forget the Flower Festival is going on at Epcot - we loved that last time and was educational for the kids while having fun too - and it was relaxing doing those things.

Just made (and ate) Palo chocolate souffle from the recipe on the Castaway Club site. Oh my, nothing has that texture, and the flavor! Second time I used the recipe, and can't believe how good and relatively simple to make.

Wait! I don't land at MCO until 11:28pm & by time I get my luggage & Florida Town Car service bring me to the hotel it will probably be 1am... you mean you guys aren't all waiting up for me to get there????:rolleyes1

I found a good deal with aer lingus....but swiss air was pretty good too ...
but I am flying into JFK airport and I am not sure what route you need to take.....

-- Based on feedback I got from other TA-ers...they said you can get off the ship pretty early on sat. My flight leaves barcelona at 10:50 am and I have been told I will get to the airport in plenty of time plus there are other DISers on my flight...which really makes me feel better.

With the recent actions of the Christmas Day underwear dude, I would stick to flights departing after 12:00 Noon. If you are not familiar with Barcelona port / airport, or other transit options, I would suggest DCL transfers. We are flying into JFK too on Iberia 1:45pm affiliated with (American Airlines). We used air miles and booked first class extra leg room on this long of a flight was worth the extra miles used. Iberia allows 3 checked bags, plus two carry on (per person). :)

I also have a week in Oct booked and the repo/Alaska B2B in 2011....see what I mean!

Yes, these cruises are very addictive. We just added the repo portion to our Alaska today. 7 days is just not enough time for me either:rotfl:
I found a 60 day cruise that looked really good $6500 per person for a verandah. Unfortunately we are not at retirement age so this lenght of cruise will just need to wait a few more years. We will be adding a 15 day Baltic at the end of this year for our DS 25th birthday gift in 2012.

I would love a 60 day cruise too, but it's not in my near future either  What a wonderful birthday gift for your son though :goodvibes I would love to be able to do the Baltic :thumbsup2

I took my fabric to a local woman who does embroidery on a commercial machine. Way too expensive. Wish I had gone with the woman on ebay [gradysmommy has been doing it for several years (I've seen her referenced a bunch - even sdlong329's FE is from there, if I remember all the way to a few weeks ago)]. She can do pretty much any of the Mickey / Minnie head designs - w/crown, pirate bandana, bow... in nearly any material. I just checked on ebay and found her page - it has examples & pictures of the different style heads.

I did my own assembly & sewing. I'd get a new one, but I've only used this one once and it still looks good (and wasn't stolen).

Hi Lynne. We've just signed up for this cruise and I've spent the last week reading through all 8 zillion posts.....still only on page 16 of this one. I read before going to bed but it's a real problem because I get so excited that I can't sleep. Huge circles under my eyes. I've got to find a better time of day to get caught up on this thread!

Anyway, I tried to find gradysmommy on ebay and got nothing. Can you give me so more clues? Thanks for that and for all your enthusiasm and work through the zillions of posts!

I updated my post on page 1 to add the knitting group info.

Hi. I love the knitting group idea! Do we bring a current project? Are you going to teach a project? Fill me in on details, please. Thanks, Ann

-- How about DCL mittens and wool caps for when we hit the cooler temperatures in the Med? :lmao:

1) Make sure you have an active eBay account
2) Click on ADVANCED SEARCH (upper/right of the page)
3) Enter (DISNEY,FISH) ... exactly as typed, including comma and parenthesis in the space for KEYWORD
4) Scroll down to SELLERS
5) Click on the box next to ONLY SHOW ITEMS FROM
6) Type gradysmommy in the box next to INCLUDE
7) Click on SEARCH

This should bring back about 5 active searches ... including an auction for custom DCL pillow cases. Make sure you e-mail her in advance. You can request colors, specific embroidery characters, embroidery names, caps for characters, etc. I left some options up to her, as she knows what works.

thanks!!!! I just ordered one. Sometime explain to me, please, how you tracked that down.

While I have the attention of the group:
We'd like lanyards.
We want to participate in FE
Tom (by himself) and Randy and Ann (as 1) want to do Secret Mickeys. I'll pm details.
If there is still room in a 2nd Palo dinner group, Randy and Ann would love to join.
We'll contribute mysteries to the book swap
I can't wait to attend the cabin tour.
I'm sure there are other details I'll remember later.

Oh, and I'm particularly looking forward to sharing a coke with Woody. I always liked the lime green, and I adored the Monty Python references. Of course, I raised my kids on Monty Python; they graduated right from Sesame Street to MP& the Holy Grail, etc.

One last comment - from way way back on the thread - someone (I forgot who) was gently complaining about adolescent boys. I raised 5 of them. At one point the pediatrician introduced me to the concept of 'tetesterone poisoning'. I don't know if it's a genuine medical condition, but it's sure a great description of the condition!
