Wow, what a fun meet thread and group you guys have going. There is a very real possibility we will be joining you. We are currently booked on the WBTA but the DH is having some sceduling difficulties for those dates and it may be better for us to cruise sooner! Fancy having such a "problem", I'm loving it.

Problem is, it may be a week or two before we can know anything for definite/certain (UGH!) soooo, does that mean I have to miss out on FE sign ups and lanyards and all the fun stuff? May I join now pretty pretty please? Worse case scenario, I have to bow out and some late comer gets my spot maybe? We really enjoyed FE on our Sept 09 cruise and lanyards and all that jazz soooo. . .

Anyone? Anywho, I do perfectly understand if the answer is "please wait" until your registration is confirmed.

Hoping to join in the fun and thread and all just as soon as I get the go ahead to book.

I am brand new to DIS. How do my wife and I join the stateroom tours?

Wow, you are not kidding about being new - one post.

First, do you have a cabin to show us? or just want to join us curious peepers?

You are going to want to send private info at some point, so use several posts (you need 10 for privileges to PM - private message).

Ask any questions you'd like, share whatever you'd like (except for your opinion on dress code, luggage weight, world politics, favorite ice cream flavor, ha ha).

More info on the website listed in my signature below (not updated since Jan 13, when I left for my mini vacation in Hawaii).

Alert - Lanyard Talk Ahead

Great news! The company that made our lanyards for the 2008 Halloween on the High Seas is such a better deal than other companies - plus they look and feel great.

I've emailed the info to Steven Long because I found his address. Anyone else on the team (or wants to be), please contact him for the details.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

Both Karen and I have been to England; all countries after The Bahamas are new to us.

As an aside, I think many are worrying too much about luggage. People are spending LOTS of money to go on a cruise they may likely never go on again. While cameras and camcorders will be plentiful, purchasing gifts and momentos are part of the trip! If I have to pay $25 to check an extra bag of travel goodies, gifts and momentos, I will ask myself what I will remember 10-20 years from now ... the $25 spent to check the baggage, or the gifts and momentos themselves?

I'm so with you that souvenirs can be priceless.
But for me an extra suitcase will cost us $255 :scared1::scared1::scared1:
No kidding realy $255 for just 1 extra suitcase.
Lots of airlines in Europe charge €9 for one kilo extra luggage.
So yes i'm worried for over packing.
But i don't have to buy special european souvinirs because i probably ahve them already...

Euhmmm, no i have never been in Europe :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Just kidding!!!

There are a few countries i have never been to...
I'm going to look it up and post later more info.

We have been only to England and Sicily, so all of our ports will be new to us. They seem wonderful, and I hope we can find the right balance between wandering on our own and taking excursions. I especially want to find true, simple, fresh, local foods at each port, plus want to visit a local market (with local meats, fish, produce) at each port as well. Food culture is one of my favorite things to learn and experience. I really better start getting serious about finding some key information if I hope to find these!

Hi! We too were booked on the WB. I actually made the logo in your signature. :thumbsup2 This cruise has worked out better for us and I am so happy we switched.

I can't see why it would be a problem if you were to let us know in a week or 2. It is not a problem for me. I think there are going to be a lot of new people, especially with the great rates they are offering.

Thanks for taking the time to come over and say hi and I hope you will be joining us!!! :thumbsup2

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

I lived and did my student teaching in Madrid for 6 months when I was in college. During this time I traveled around a lot of Spain. I also did the whole "backpack around Europe" experience. So, I've seen a little bit of a lot of countries. However, I usually at a 50lb backpack on me and minimal $$$.
We literally sustained ourselves for months on olives, cheese, bread and cheap wine (which I carried around in a bota (wine skin)---thinking I was so hip =)

While I wouldn't change that experience for anything, it will be nice to see things that are further away than walking distance from the train stations.

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

I did a trip to Spain when I was in high school (Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid). My high school wasn't doing the trip, so I found a school that was and went with them, so I didn't know anyone with me (I'd only met the teacher once, when she met me to see if she'd be willing to let me go with them!). I'm looking forward to actually knowing the people with me, and enjoying it with them. It'll be nice to come home and have others who had the same experience. I believe this is the first trip to Spain or Gibraltar for everyone else in my group, but that they've all been to Europe in the past (except for DD 5, who has only been to Carribean and Central American countries - well, and the US!).

This will be my 6th time to Europe but first for the countries on this trip.

England
Wales
Ireland
Italy
Greece (with a short cruise that stopped in Turkey)
Germany
Austria
Switzerland
passed through Liechtenstein
Charles de Gaul Airport in Paris (that counts as a country because I spent all day there only to be sent to a hotel until a flight the next morning - hotel great, airport could care less if I never see it again)
