OK...here's my first stab at a tentative clothing packing list. Any suggestions? Any glaring things missing? Note-- I did not put in a dress (maybe I should). I'm not really a very "dressy" person (I teach at a college, so even my "work" wardrobe is somewhat casual). Also, I was trying to think of the mix/match options and thought a dressy skirt would give me more options than a dress. I also left out the underwear and night clothes because they are just a given.

2 Pairs of Casual Pants
2 Capris
1 Dressy Pants
1 Formal Skirt
1 Casual Skirt
1 Shorts
4 Short Sleeve T-Shirt
4 Long Sleeve T-Shirts
2 Formal tops
1 Bathing Suit
1 Light Jacket
1 Sweater/Sweatshirt
1 Walking Shoes
1 Flip Flops
1 Dress Shoes
1 Casual Shoes

P.S. Also, recall that we're in Orlando for three days before the Cruise and stopping over in London for three days at the end. So, I'm thinking about varying temps.

OK I have to say this one.... sorry for the ramble...bear with me
I hit a deer with my three week old car......70 MPH on highway....Car demolished...we were fine but the story goes....(this is true i swear)

I was with a Priest... we were on our way back from a Rabbi's birthday party.... I called the Rabbi to come get us off the highway and he called his friend Richard (a lawyer)..... who was behind us by 15 minutes to get us on his way by....we all met (along with the tow truck and the state police)....at the next rest stop on the highway.

I said to the policeman.....there HAS to be a punchline

He said what?...and I said...well -see here officer, you have a blond, a Rabbi, a Priest and a Lawyer.....there HAS to be a joke somewhere :lmao:

We all did have a good laugh...had to ...I was feeling very glad to be alive :goodvibes

That is hilarious, I thought you were telling a joke in the beginning. :lmao:

Haven't hit a deer, but once on the way to my sister's house a raccoon started across the road. I only had to hit the brakes a bit and swerve a little - didn't even go off the road. Miss the raccoon but nearly gave my BIL a heart attack. He started swearing and said the funniest thing that made me laugh so hard I near did run off the road. He said "I'm going to need a vacuum to get the upholstry out of my @@@!". That still cracks me up.

I really should do a scrapbook layout about that. :lmao:
That is too funny too! :lmao:

Yes, it was GREAT with the less kids on board. It was so nice for the kids bc they were really able to bond with the CM's in the clubs. Each activity was not packed. The mickey pool was NOT kid soup! We LOVED it!

The only real complaint I would tell someone about the EB TA is the time changes. They really take a toll on you. Each day just starts later and later. A part of me wishes DCL just did the 6 hours on the 1st sea and then be done with time changes but I know that can't happen.

I was going back and reading my TA trip report, while looking for the merchandise pictures in Treasure Ketch I had posted, and I don't think we remember how hard the toll was on all of us with those time changes. I had even forgotten how hard it was. Every day of my report I wrote about how late or hard it was to wake up, even missing some things here and there. To those that haven't done it yet, please be prepared, it takes a harder toll than you think. Alot harder than the jet lag from flying to Europe.,,,because its more drawn out and gradual.

I basically categorized it into 2 groups that most people did:
A. Sleep in until 11 or so (there were sometimes we would be so groggy I would remember hearing the captain's announcements at noon and try my best to get up!)
or

B. Wake up early for morning activities, and go back to sleep at about 11am or 12 until 2pm or 3:00.

Most everyone I talked to did one or the other every day. It was tough finding time to catch up on sleep.

I am a little stiff this morning. The deer did not make it. The average cost for a car - deer crash in Michigan is $2900.00 Mine was almost double that.

T

So sorry!

Yes there are things we missed! One of which was the PJ breakfast. It was just too hard to get up! I am a morning person and it was still so hard. DH and I had an inside room so I slept even longer bc there was NO light! We did enjoy more at night then we did on our cruises however. Like Michelle said, it really does take its toll. Early morning activities happen less and less as the time changes happen.

A few years ago my sister was driving my van and we hit a deer. The deer came through the windshield and landed in our laps. We were lucky to survive that one....

If you plan to stay in Spain, let us know if you have questions about touring Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo or Segovia.

Princess M,

We'll be staying in Barcelona, Toledo, and Madrid.

We are considering a day-trip to Segovia from Madrid, and hope to visit the Roman Aqueduct, Cathedral, and Alcazar.

Any recommendations on those sites, other sites, or restaurants in Segovia? Thanks.

Kumquat88, we are in the same "boat" as you! We had hoped this would overlap spring break when we booked it. Unfortunately, it doesn't. So, our 8 y.o. will miss 2 weeks of 3rd grade. We figure this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience (except for brooklyn and others here, for which it is a once-in-a-lifetime-at that age experience... <g>). And we know he will learn a lot from the trip -- and have fun!

One more time... any other families with late dining interested in having a DIS group for dinner? Otherwise, we'll just ask to be seated with several other families at random. Thanks! Enjoying the countdown!

P.S. Michelle, I ~love~ your trip reports from the last EB TA!!

Count me in for the 11am wake up. I liked the week of sea days and time change, because I'm more of a night person. Seeing everyone else wake up around 11am didn't make me look so bad. And, the bonus is, everyone else is awake because their body thinks it's 10pm...and it's 4 in the morning!

I will admit, there was a day in the middle where I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so I had breakfast around 8am, and then a nap until 2pm or so. Breakfast was so eerily quiet, and lunch was always very busy! :)

With the time change, on the TAs I've been on, the kids were less fussy at late dining. I saw a bunch of people switch from early to late because the kids just weren't hungry yet. Thankfully, late dining was dead compared to main dining, so there was plenty of room. The servers were always very good about taking care of the kids first so they could be excused early and enjoy the rest of the evening with their organized activities.

Adrienne, we have several people already linked together for late dining. If you want to join us PM me with everyone's names, resie #, and DOB. So far we are all (chronologically :rotfl:) adults, but that's not on purpose.

Hi there---So I spoke with concierge again and have pulled our reservation...
I'm sorry but this is taking up more time than I currently have. My 3 year old is begging for attention as I type this...

Anyway, if someone from the Palo Pals group would like to be in charge and rebook this for a table in the dining room, please PM me. I will send you the list of those interested in dining together.

I'm sorry
that I don't have extra time right now for rescheduling this if there are any more cancellations/changes.

Thanks!

Off to play with my 3 year old.... :yay:

This is a deal. DS clipped deer and it cost $5000 to fix car. The hoofs took out both head lights, hood, grille and onee fender. The headlights alone cost $3000 due to them being Xenon. Crazy if you ask me - just glad the car was the only thing damaged. :)

Went for a 2-hour ATV ride today at Kualoa Ranch on the Windward side of Oahu; so much fun. Saw filming locations and beautiful mountain and ocean views. Looking forward to DCL coming here after the new DVC opens. Waves on the North Shore were foamy white.

...OMG...did you happen to see where they film LOST !~~~~~~
Glad you are having fun!

In some corner of my brain I remember reading about port excursions on some other cruise lines that go to famous places in Hawaii used in movies/TV shows. I think that would be awesome!

Lynne, will you have some pics of your Hawaiian vacation on our EB cruise? I'd love to see some.

I was looking at www.danielmadeirataxis.com for Madeira. We only have 3 people interested in this. Two other groups have booked with them, though. Care to join us? PM me if you're interested.

We've booked with them for the 4 1/2 hour tour. No problem booking for only 3 since it is priced by taxi. If you get a fourth, it will just save each person money. Madeira Taxis so far have been extemely accomendating to our family.

I was looking at the website that Lynne has set up and I noticed a beer tasting. My DH would really like to sign up for that one. :thumbsup2 I'm not sure how to sign up on the web site so I thought I'd try here.

I go away for a week and you guys do 43 PAGES of posts!!! I don't think I'll ever get caught up.

Kidding...love you all. Oh yeah, getting evacuated up a mountain at night due to tsunami warnings was great fun.

That'll teach ya! :goodvibes

I saw on another post you've been in Jamaica (for work). I've been wondering where you were. Thought maybe you were on vacation again. Did you like it? My DB and DSIL got married there. It's their favorite place. (I didn't get invited) :sad2:
