I have several:

1. Magnets! I love the magnets and hang them on my fridge when I get home to remind me of the cruise! They are easy to bring home too! My motto - never too many magnets on the door!

oh yes! love the magnets!

2. Food items! I love getting food items because they help the budget (not having to buy candies and such on board) and they take up NO room coming home :) (because there is never any left!)

Especially candy for the movies!

I really love all my FE things that I get from every cruise - it is always fun to see what everyone comes up with!

Ditto to this too!

We had a similar size exchange (35plus cabins, 100plus people) on our first cruise and it was overhwleming space wise packing it all back up BUT we were a family of 6 recieving things :rotfl:

so I'd have to say FLAT stuff or stuff we will use up on the cruise itself even though technically I love love Christmas ornaments. . . .

Ok another question since FE deadline is upon us!

What is your favorite kind of FE gift (not that you do not like them all!)

Can't think of a favorite thing but love them all, especially things that are crafty or hand made. I agree, candy is great and kids love to eat it during movies :)

Just finishing up all my FE stuff this weekend. Once FE deadline is passed I can officially say finished with FE.

Kileybeth..The closest airport to me is also Philly but I could NOT find a fare that was not insane that went directly to philly....so I too... am on the aer lingus plane to JFK ...

I reserved directly on th aer lingus website...I did wind up paying a little more with the exchange rate coming through them vs the broker (like expedia)...but only a few bucks more and I already picked my seats :)

FE question....this is my first FE exchange...I am excited!!!!! everything will be fun!

Wow ...I have the stuff I need but...have not yet tackled putting it together!...good for you!:thumbsup2

Question...do we have any Karaoke folks here?:cool2:

5 sheets of glossy magnetic photo paper is like $15 at Staples. I ordered a pack of 25 sheets from a seller on ebay. It arrived a few days ago (5 packs of 5) and it is wonderful. I have been making magnets like a fool! I made birthday party invitations for my son's party & everyone loved them! I just started working on cruise magnets and actually just placed another order for another 25 sheets. Buy it now $26.99 & $6.50 shipping, it comes out to about $1.33 per sheet compared to Staples $3 per sheet. I have a HP printer and it feeds nicely in it (1 sheet at a time).

Here is the link to the ebay seller in case anybody is interested.

Hi again everybody. I think I have the idea of FE now, except one question - are they given anonymously? Someone suggested giving something representative of where you live, but (for example) if I lived in North Dakota and gave something from the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople, people might say, "Oh. That's interesting. Maybe some Disser is from North Dakota". So it would be kind of meaningless, if you see what I mean.....
(of course, someone else might say, "Ah. I wonder if she knows Professor Peter Schikeley" but it would still not get us much forwarder.

Is that as clear as mud?

Thanks,
Ann

What does everyone plan to wear during the long ship days? Not the fancy stuff for semi-formal and formal nights---and not even for dinner. On our last (and only cruise), it was almost summer and in the Bahamas--so everyone had on capris/shorts.

Now for this cruise, what do you plan to wear when just relaxing on the ship during the day?

I plan on taking one pair of jean capris, 2 pair of jeans and my linen capri pants and 4 pairs of shorts - I was thinking of ordering a terry sweat suit type but now am thinking I will just keep my jeans washed because they are so comfy and I can dress them up and down - warm and cool - and people do not notice if you have the same jeans - especially if you are changing your top. My shirts for my capris and shorts can be worn with my jeans.

I know it seems like a lot of shorts but we are spending 4 days in Disney before the cruise and I figure we will be able to wear them for at least 2 or 3 days till we get out of the warm waters (but I may be wrong)

I thought my first thing was done but our numbers are bigger and I only purchased 100 of one item and now do not have enough so I will go back and rework who gets what - maybe one of them per cabin or adults only with somthing else for the kids. Not sure - have to make decsions!

My understanding is that it can be done either way. I don't think they are supposed to be anonymous. I agree that if it is something that is specific to your area/ location, it is nice to let people know who it is from. As for as my FE gifts, if you know me at all you will be able to guess I gave it to you, but just in case there is a little "dishy24" on it! Again, I am not positive about this-- Anybody else with more FE experience, feel free to chime in! :)

most people sign their names so you know who it is from. Even those on the lanyard team who are doing this as their FE will have their names on the cards I am making up so they know who gave them to them.

I was going through some stuff from our PC WB 2008 cruise and had great FE things like a poker chip turned into a magnet, tissues, glow in the dark marocca's, highlighters, hot peper sugar, capstick with our logo, music cd's, plus lots more! People are so creative!

I want to go back to the thread where people post what they did to see what else is out there!

Krisann

Hmmm... I didn't receive your PM :confused3

I'll try again, but I went ahead and bit the bullet, THANK YOU for all your help. I booked air lingus and am soooo happy to have that done. I *think* we are on the same flights. Will need to catch up with you and chat about it a bit more.

Trying again now.

sorry bout that, had to clear out old junk to make room to send more, hehe

Got it! A HUGE you're welcome to you! It looks like we are on the same two flights! I plan on finding a "couple of pints" in Dublin on our layover if you'd like to join us! :cool1:

Krisann,

On the '08 WBPC, people were very creative with so many of the gifts, many of which were homemade. We received door magnets, pinback buttons and a mousepad with our cruise logo.

Some people gave out things to celebrate the ports we were visiting, like the moracas you mention, as we went to Acapulco.

Pirate stuff was popular for Pirates In The Caribbean night.

Several people gave out things to share about their hometown or country. We received a clip-on Koala bear, and a kangaroo pin from Australia. I think on that cruise there was a gift from a family from Memphis: barbecue sauce, an Elvis trading card, and a note saying what Memphis is famous for. (This generous family drove to the port, and brought cases of barbecue sauce with them.)

Ok I did not get the BBQ sauce - I would remember that since we live down the road from Memphis :(

I was hoping to shamlessly attach my husband's business card to my FE gifts... he is sending me after all! ...and buying everything!

I did this on my last cruise in October 09 because I ran out of time - I just put my business card in it but my DIS name is my name so it was easy to figure out who it was from :)

Darn, we didn't get the BBQ sauce either. :)

My group did the chapstick with the WB PC logo. Our favorite was the child-size plastic binoculars. We still have them and my girls use them all the time. We rec'd those on the day we went through the PC. Such a cute idea!

Woody, did you have Mickey shaved out of the back of your head on the cruise? or am I confusing you with someone else?

Krisann, I don't know if we officially met either? :confused3

Do you guys remember that sweet elderly woman who had a walking cane that she dressed up for every special night? She was so cute! You should have seen her cane on fiesta night!! I wish I had taken a pic.

Glad I wasn't the only one who did not get it - makes me feel better but I also do not remember who was from Memphis as I would have thought I would have made a point to meet them since we live close! Our table mates were from Knoxville.

I thought the Mickey shaved was Bubba - but maybe I am wrong :confused3

I am not sure if we met either - sorry I do not do well with remembering people! We sat most nights behind Deborah and her family and really enjoyed their interpreters. There are some people I do remember even if I saw them now but not everyone! There were too many of us! That is why I liked having the lanyards and the bracelets to identify everyone!

Yes I remember the lady with the cane! She was a hoot!
