After admitting my foolish mistake with the entertainment in France we decided to split up and meet in about an hour for the tree lighting ceremony. Paul went in to see the France movie. Jeff and Kelsee stayed in France and found Aurora!
Laura and I ran into Jeff & Kelsee around the UK shops and Kelsee said the Pooh characters were in one of the stores and there was no line.
We hurried in and were able to go right up to them and get a picture. Laura gently patted Pooh on his head, just playing with him, and he shook his head at her in a firm "NO!" Oops! Guess Mr. Pooh didn't like that so much.
Laura and I walked slowly back towards Canada, stopping to get some drinks. Then we went to wait by the tree so we could get a good spot.
We sat here for awhile . . . .
. . . till a person sat down near us who had an awful cough. We moved away from him and sat on the ground with others in front of the tree.
I was thinking about our ADR for tomorrow night and wasn't feeling real excited about it. We were scheduled to eat at 1900 Park Fare which hadn't gotten real good reviews of late for the food but I chose it mainly because I'd heard such great things about the stepsisters. But we had been fortunate enough to have met the stepsisters in the MK earlier in the week and had our pictures taken with them so I was thinking we didn't really need to do that again. I was racking my brain thinking what's another restaurant that's supposed to be really good. Tomorrow was our free day and we didn't have any definite plans (can you believe it?) I didn't know what park, if any, we would be in so I was trying to think of a good restaurant in one of the resorts. All of a sudden it hit me! KONA!
I whipped out my cell phone and called the dining reservation number and asked if anything was available the following evening at Kona for a party of 5. At first the CM said she didn't see anything. Then she said "wait, I do have something but not till 9:00". Great I said, we'll take it! I thought to myself we can always get there early if need be and perhaps we'll be lucky and they can take us. I didn't cancel the 1500 Park Fare ressie at that point because I didn't have my confirmation number with me and I wasn't sure what phone number I made the reservation under and no one can ever spell our last name right without a lot of effort so I left that one for now (but I did call the following morning and cancel it).
While we waited for the show Laura and I (and other people around us) were amused by a darling little girl probably no more than 5 or 6 who spoke as passionately and forcefully as any adult ever would about a cause dear to their hearts. This little girl was sitting relatively close to the front but there were a group of adults standing in the very front of the tree. Two or three times this child would walk up to the people standing and say (using her arms for emphasis) "if you would all PLEASE just sit down so the little children in the back can see!" A kind lady explained to her that when the show started everyone would be standing and this little girl said "but if everyone would just stay seated then everyone could see, especially the little children!!" She'd go sit down for awhile then get back up again to plead her case. So cute! I got out my video camera because I thought if she does this again I want to capture it but I guess she figured it was a lost cause. I noticed when the show started she went up to the front to stand with someone so she was able to see very well, even with people standing.
Jeff, Kelsee and Paul came and joined Laura and me to wait for the show. Here's a bit of what Jeff & Kelsee (aka "never met a hat I didn't want to try on") had been up to!
The tree ceremony was exactly the same as last year, and I'm so glad it was, because I loved it then and loved it now!
Just like last year, Silent Night made me cry! Jeff was born two months before Christmas so when he was a tiny baby I used to rock him and sing Silent Night so for me that song represents a special bond between me and my boy, even if he doesn't remember it.
When it was over we agreed to meet in front of China to watch the acrobats at 7:00. Jeff and Kelsee went to shop while Paul, Laura and I went back to Mexico and rode the boat again. Its not Splash Mountain (thank goodness!) but its got its charm!
We watched the Norway Santa, which isn't a Santa at all - a mischevious gnome maybe? I can't remember. We haven't seen all the Santas around WS but out of the ones we have seen I think Norway's is the most entertaining.
We got to China a little bit early and I was able to get a bench facing the acrobats. That was nice because I wasn't in the mood to sit on the ground anymore. Laura and I were on the bench and there was room for the rest of the family when they arrived. A couple showed up and asked if they could sit down and I said sure. When Jeff and Kelsee arrived the couple offered to move but they told them to stay seated and they went to find seats on the ground. Paul went to see the China movie and joined us when the acrobats were over. They are TRULY AMAZING!!!
Up next: Biergarten!

Gosh, I don't remember a lot about all the options on the buffet but I'm sure there will be plenty to eat. Maybe ask on the restaurant board and someone over there is sure to know? Sorry I'm not more help! I know it was really good!!!
After telling her a second time that Laura was supposed to get the shrimp and scallops she took the plate away and said she would get them for her. She never once apologized although she did come back a few minutes later and said she had put the order in and she would have her food to her quickly. Our server was not good because never once did she refill or offer to refill our drinks.
I really hope that you felt better the next day!
I was sure sad a precious Disney day was going to waste but these things happen sometimes. And I'm so careful about washing hands, trying not to touch railings, doorknobs, etc. when I can.
