can't believe I'm up and posting, but I don't think that I'll
be able to sleep otherwise. Maybe when I really wake up I'll realize how irrational this idea is. anyway.........
Last year, my husband was out for work for awhile and then I was. Money was so tight and life as we knew it turned upside down-for many reasons. But to make a long story short, I'll never forget how terribly hard it was to let anyone know that we needed help and life was probably harder then it needed to be because of that. back to the present- life thank god has improved somewhat or maybe we've learned how to adjust a little bit better. But I was thinking about a "random act of kindness" assignment that i just completed for my class and I was reminded of an idea that I had at a very desperate time last year- this seemed like a good place to at least put the idea out there.... Wouldn't it be nice to have a place for people to post their wishes and have them granted (anonymously or through a moderator)? We could call it "Dreamers and Fairies":) I remember last year just so badly wishing for a dinner at a restaurant, a certain toy for my kids, a decent hair cut or at one point even a slice of pizza-just small wishes not to difficult for people who might be glad to grant them. I've always believed that giving to others not only helps who you give to, but it makes the giver a better person. If this could somehow be done safely, through a moderator-so that the "Dreamer" and the "Fairy" could stay anonyomous, well, I just thought that it would be a nice thing to do. I'd love to wake up at a normal hour and hear any thoughts on this. Of course, I have no idea how much time or effort such a thing would entail, but you never know.....:wizard:

I love that idea! I agree it would need to be done in a safe way, because unfortunately some people would abuse the system. But I love the idea of it being little wishes. Sort of like those little coupons you give people for their birthdays for "one free back rub." Usually those little things mean more than the big things ever will.

Great idea :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Dont all the best ideas come at some ungodly hour while the rest of the world sleeps though? :)

lol. every time I go to Disney, I do stuff like this! I think?!! I will go out to a restaurant that I am in, pick a family and buy there dinner, another time, I got the fireworks cruise out of the Yatch club, it was me and my daughter. I picked another family and asked them to go with us! Is that the type of stuff that you mean? I would not do it on a discussion board, because as I stated, I do it on my own.

I love the idea! I hope it takes off. I know I will help by contributing to the project if it does find a home here on the DIS. We received many such acts of kindness during the time my partner was out of work and now that she has just gotten a job I know we will be looking to "pay it forward."

Linda

If it doesn't take off here on the Dis, there is a site that does this already, wishuponahero.com People post their wishes or needs (big and small) and other people fulfill them.

Thanks for your replies everyone. 9:38AM is definitely better than 4 in the morning! I'm going to put some more thought into this. I will definitely keep you posted! have a wonderful day!

Yes, please keep us posted. I'm very interested in this project and I really hope it goes somewhere!
