Hey DISers
I've never really been one of those people who HAD to have this 3D ultrasound...but then, I thought, because my baby is at high risk for a chromosonal defect, it might be a good idea. Then, the doctor told me it's more for the 'fun' of a photograph than for pinpointing issues as they usually aren't liscensed doctors, just sonographers snapping pictures.
Well, my mom is coming out in 2 weeks, and she lives across the country... She's never been able to be there during the birth of, or even with me before or after pregnancy. I thought it'd be awesome to schedule a 3D ultrasound while she's here so she can see the ultrasound of her 4th grandbaby.
Then, I went online to look at some of these pictures, and here's my concern. I don't want to sound shallow or rude, but what if my babies defect is very noticeable in the face? What if I see something that Im not prepared for and my mom is there with me? WE'll both break down together, but I don't know if doing this ultrasound is now the smartest thing...although I'd really like to have the experience with her. Those pictures (particularly 4D) are just so amazingly detailed and 'real'..
Just some ideas of whether you felt 3D was worth it...and has anyone had one who's baby had been diagnosed with a defect?
*note - I have my amnio on Wed, so I should have my results back by the 3D date to know exactly what is wrong....
