My son in law has some kind of vision problem where he can't see 3D effects (I don't know what it is, I don't see anything wrong with his eyes). I have seen all 4 shows several times, but I have never looked at them without glasses. What do you see in those shows without the glasses? Is it like a regular movie? My daughter doesn't want to take him to the shows because he won't enjoy them. (It's his first trip to WDW) What do you think? Anyone remember what they are like without glasses? Thank you.
(42 days and counting)

My husband lost the lens in one of his eyes at 10 years old. He cannot see the 3D effects either....all he sees is a blurry picture. I have taken off the 3D glasses before and it is just really blurry.

Hubby used to go into the shows with us with the kids were younger mainly in case he was needed, but now he does something else. He would rather sit on a bench than go in a 3D show. He has gone in all of them except Mickey's Philharmagic....he says without the 3D affect and being just a blurry movie, they are not that interesting. Of course, the kids and I love them.

WDW used to give out 3D glasses to look at the Osborne Christmas lights as well. When you looked at the lights it looked like little angels flying all around. He couldn't see those either.

If your son-in-law cannot see the 3D, he won't get much enjoyment out of them.

without the 3d glasses - the movie is very blurry. it's actually like 3 images laying on top of each other - a bit off centered - if that makes sense.

Anything that you see in three-D with the glasses, your son-in-law will see as - let me see if I can explain this - two of the same image, overlapping but offset slightly, or in other words it looks blurry without the 3D glasses. Interesting but blurry. Okay, and a little disconcerting :)

My son is visually impaired. Most of the time, he can not see the show in 3-D. There are other effects involved though, so it might still be worth it to see at least one.

My son WAS able to see some of the 3-D effects in Philharmagic. If you want to try one out, I would try that one. I would have him wear the glasses.

we are currently planning a trip for may/early june 06 and i'm fasirly certain that the 3d shows will not be on my personal to do list as well, with just one eye, even regular movies get blurry and hard to follow at times, and i am going to do the bench/people watch thing during the times dw and dd ar ein the 3d ones:) ( but i am going to go to the muppets lobby:) ( gotta see da frog:p)

Is the problem with both of his eyes? If so, I don't have an answer. But I can tell you that I have perfect vision in my right eye but see almost nothing out of my left eye, and therefore 3-D shows never work for me. But Philharmagic was wonderful! If I hadn't worn the glasses, everything would have been blurry. With the glasses, it was all very clear. I couldn't see the 3-D effects, but it was still one of my favorite things at WDW.

Edited to add... if you like people watching, it's really fun to watch people in the audience of a 3-D movie, especially little kids. :teeth:

I can't see 3 D effects - also remember those prints from several years ago - they were supposed to have a "hidden" picture where you had to stare at the print until you could "see" the hidden thing - never could see anything in any of those prints.
Several years ago we went to see the Imax movie something about the magic of flight and I got motion sickness something terrible!
Also there are a couple of my DD's Nintendo Gamecube games that make me sick to play - can't even stand to just be watching while someone else is playing. it is one of the mario games where the perspective is constantly changing.

I thought I was the only one! I love going to the 3d movies but things don't quite work out for me either.

I can see 3D in objects and sets that are supposed to be far away. Once they start getting "closer to me", they start becoming double images. If something is supposed to be "over the audience" then forget it, I see 2 of those. It's frustrating, but I still enjoy it.
