I don't subscribe to the club but I have a Boudin loyalty card so I get a free 1-lb. loaf of sourdough every month if I purchase something else. Their bread freezes well if you put it in a couple layers of aluminum foil and then a plastic bag. It should still be fine after a couple of months. Even after that you can warm it up in the microwave and that will soften it up pretty well. (Or make croutons. ) I cut each long loaf into thirds when I bring it home and wrap those sections separately before freezing so I don't have to thaw an entire loaf at once.
Given that option, you might want to compare the bread club pricing and shipping costs with just putting in an order every 2-3 months--or longer, if you can go without sourdough that long. Be sure to include a Thanksgiving sourdough turkey in one of your orders; they're adorable.
Yeah, I think they have those particular shapes all year. Not at all the stores, but at least via mail order. And of course they also sell bread bowls.
You probably noticed that you can also order cans of their clam chowder.
I started the sourdough bread of the month club a few months ago and love it. It is a bit pricey with the shipping but the bread is high quality, arrives on time and usually comes in 2 small loaves. They freeze great and reheat in the oven just as well. The different shapes are fun to get too.
