So this is a trip report of my 39 hours in Disney, 9.5 of which were spent asleep. That doesn’t sound too bad until you see how it all laid out!

I’m Maggie: 26, Virginia Tech grad and big Disney princess fan.

My first Disney trip was in 2008 after my college graduation, I had so much fun I went again in March 2010 to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon. I was lucky enough to be invited on my cousin’s first trip in October 2010. So this is my fourth trip, a quick trip for the Disney Princess Half Marathon!

A picture from my first trip:

by the way...my photos come from facebook, so I don't know how to make them smaller, enjoy the large photos!

(no pictures for this update, don't worry I'll make up for it later :rotfl:)
Travel Day:

My brilliant idea for today was to work 8-4, then head to the airport. So after working all day Friday I headed home to finish packing then drove to my mom’s house so she could drive me to the airport. I got home late, so I had just enough time to zip up the suitcase and run down the stairs (over a horde of children playing in the hallway)

My flight was supposed to leave at 8:45pm, but didn’t leave until 10pm. I ended up falling asleep at the gate while watching UP. I woke up to an annoying family invading my space. They had been in the row behind me but for some reason decided to sit around me, there was lots of room and I wasn’t in a great location for getting to the gate easily, I have no idea why they choose to sit practically on top of me.
Finally we boarded the plane and who do I find in my seat but one of the annoying children! Ugh I felt horrible asking the mom to get up and move but I did request that seat for a reason. She started making comments under her breath so I pulled up my hood put in my earphone and fell asleep. (for the record, I love kids. I coach a swim team! But kids invading my personal space, and not being corrected by their parents…yeah not so much)

When I woke up we were in Florida! We touched down at 12:28pm; my poor mom received a text message at that time. Next I headed to baggage claim, luckily my bags arrived quickly and I was soon off to the DME line. Only to discover it was on the other side! So I asked an airport employee how to get there, and off I went. I finally got in line, on a bus, and checked in to All Star Movies at 2:30am. I remember seeing the scoreboard by the Mighty Ducks pool and thinking I should take a photo of the time but I was way too tired.

I set my alarm for 7am, and fell into bed. My plans for Saturday were to hit all 4 parks, plus the race expo!

Subscribing! 4 parks in one day... I can't wait to hear about it!

Thanks!

I'm going to try and have my first park up by tonight.

Day One:

I woke up around 7am rearing and ready to go. But I also knew that I should try and hold back a little, had to save some energy for the ½ the next day!!
I headed to the food court to grab a cup of tea and then went outside to wait for the bus to Animal Kingdom! I arrived about 8:30 for the 9am opening, so I wandered around a bit talking pictures (and finishing my tea) before hopping in line on the left side.

Then I got to see the rope drop ceremony! Sorta….I guess the show is directed more towards the larger crowd on the right. But I was able to get some good photos of the group driving past and the end.

189822_10100128927135843_6204802_51866035_4264838_n.jpg

Then we were allowed to peacefully walk back to the safari ride….um scratch that. We race walked back to the safari ride. I kept seeing things I wanted to take pictures of but I was afraid someone would run me over if I stopped! Oh well. I was able to get on the safari ride very quickly and I got the same driver I had one year ago!

Two weeks later I arrived back in Africa. I don’t do roller coasters and all the shows in AK start at 10:30. So I decided to just walk around and enjoy the theming in the park before heading out to the race expo. I did think about Kali River Rapids; but it was still a bit chilly and I didn't want to get soaked so early!

I left AK at 10am (I can’t believe I only spent an hour there!) and caught a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

After taking some pictures I got on the bus for the race expo. I didn’t take any pictures here, it was crowded beyond belief.

Thanks for reading everyone! I'm working on Day one - Park two right now; hopefully I'll have it up tomorrow after work!

After leaving the expo I caught a bus to EPCOT by catching a bus to Port Orleans. I arrived at EPCOT at 12:30.

I headed to the Land first to ride Living with the Land and see what the wait for Soarin’ was like. The wait for Soarin’ was longer than I wanted to wait, and the fast pass return was after I had decided I need to leave EPCOT so I decided to skip it (!) and wait until I get to Disneyland in September.

After leaving the Land I headed into Word ; I took some pictures and also picked up a fastpass for Kim Possible (although I’m not sure if I needed it) Then I decided it was time for lunch; so I went to Mexico.

Once in Mexico I decided on Nachos and a Coke, and was surprised by the huge portion! I could have shared both, as it was I had to throw half of the nachos out; but man were they good!

(inside La Cantina De San Angel)

After lunch I headed to the international gateway to pick up my Kimmunicater. I stopped in Canada to buy my mom a Tinkerbell luggage tag on the way

My mission was in France, so I walked around saving the world and taking pictures. I also ran into a friend, who was also in Disney to run the half marathon! We arranged to meet the next morning and head to the race together.

After saving the world I wandered around World Showcase some more taking pictures; before heading out to catch a bus to my next park at 4pm.

I discovered that there is a drawbridge!

On my way out I saw the fairy topiaries but the path was blocked by shurbbery so I stuck my camera between the bushes and took this:

188958_10100128934945193_6204802_51866290_5787742_n.jpg

I took almost the same exact picture in the land of the hidden mickey in the plants. I missed the one that spelled out Epcot though!

And I also just discovered the draw bridge! But how come the gate wasn't closed?? When I saw it lift, two cast members closed the gate so no one would fall over the edge and I don't see a gate in your picture! :lmao:

Too bad you had to miss Soarin'. When is your Disneyland trip?

Great pictures. Did you feel rushed while you were going through the parks?

I really love the picture you took I think from nearby The Land (with The Seas in the background and the pink trees and palm trees). It's just gorgeous.

I almost missed the EPCOT. I wish I had been able to get the whole thing, but I didn't realize what it said until we were right up on it.

I got up to the gate as they were closing it, so I was leaning on it while taking pictures. It was pretty cool, I forgot to add that the reason it was up was because they were taking the firework boats through. Some of the drivers were waving too us, a few ran it to the walls. It was actually pretty fun! I did feel bad for the people on the other side, all they got to see was the bridge.

You know, I never felt rushed. I think because I was by myself and I don't really like to do "thrill" rides. I really do like to walk around and take pictures (if only I had a better camera!).

My Disneyland trip is in September for the 1/2 marathon. I'm really looking forward to it! I was able to ride Soarin 3 times in a row on my Oct. trip, so I didn't feel too deprived!

I will be working on Day one-park three tonight and hopefully will have it up tomorrow!

As faithful readers will no doubt recall we were last at EPCOT. At 4pm I took my last picture and headed to the bus stop. Next park: Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s

I hopped on a bus to DHS. Arriving at 4:36pm, my goals were simple: see Beauty and the Beast, see Muppets, and do the backlot tour.

181928_10100128935074933_6204802_51866293_5669854_n.jpg

I grabbed a times guide, I took one at all the parks but this is the only one I acutally used lol. After seeing that the Back lot tour was closing at 5:30 I decided to go there first.

185674_10100128935149783_6204802_51866296_8030304_n.jpg

Poor guy…the show was very cool, I like the end where they put the movie together and I’m glad I didn’t pick the first row!

I liked this part of the tour also. The kid next to me didn’t, he freaked out and kept saying “you said it wasn’t real!” “This is real!!!” poor guy

I really enjoyed the tour; I wish we had slowed down in the costuming dept. though. I really would have loved to see that stuff better! After doing the tour I want to see Light’s Motors Action! I was never really that interested, but now I think it sounds like it could be cool.

After my tour, I decided to see the last show of Beauty and the Beast. So I hiked to the opposite side of the park. I expected that so close to show time that the seats would be packed, but it was fine. I found a good seat, 4 rows back on the right side.

The show was awesome! I am a huge Ariel fan and really loved the Voyage of the Little Mermaid; but man…Beauty and the Beast was 10x better. I can’t wait to bring my mom back so she can see it!

At this point it probably would have been a good idea to leave, I was tired and my knee was starting to hurt. But for some reason I needed to see Muppets, so off I went.

185766_10100128937325423_6204802_51866345_3504037_n.jpg

Do I look tired? Lol
oh that shirt by the way got me tons of attention from Cast Members! It is a Little Mermaid shirt that has the Broadway design on it. I didn’t go to the Broadway show; I got it at Delia’s. But pretty much every CM who saw me said they loved my shirt or that they loved the Little Mermaid also! One Security guard at bag check even asked if I was running as Ariel on Sunday!

Next up the last park of the day, Magic Kingdom!

I was one of the people on the other side! :rotfl:

We really couldn't see much, although we did see the boats once they passed under the bridge and came out on the other side.

I've never seen Beauty and the Beast but I want to! I doubt I'll be able to get my BF to watch it on our next trip either.... oh well! I'll just have to go back again!

I should have the last part of day one up tonight. It's typed up and ready to go, I just need to add in the pictures. Which I don't have time to do right now because I'll be late for work (this time change is killing me!)

I forgot this part of my park 3 post:
I shouldn’t have gone to Muppets…I love the Muppets but I was tired and my contacts were starting to bother me. Apparently with that combination 3D just isn’t as good.
It was dark as I left Muppets, so I decided to head out to the busses. I had done 3 parks so far, and I’m no quitter. I decided to just go to the Magic Kingdom, ride one ride and leave.

Day 1 Park 4!!!

I decided that the best way to get to the Magic Kingdom would be to go to a monorail resort and then take the monorail or in the case of the Contemporary walk. The bus took me to the Contemporary first so I walked from there to MK. Now whoever said it was a short walk was wrong! Or at least it sure doesn’t feel like a short walk when you are on your 4th park of the day!
I was walking down Main Street at 7:30pm

188658_10100128937380313_6204802_51866346_6978332_n.jpg

First order of business was dinner, so I headed to Casey’s for some corndog nuggets. Oh man do I love those things! I also got a cup of ice, so I could force myself to hydrate. I wasn’t in the mood for liquids, but I knew I was getting dehydrated and crunching on ice seemed like a good way to hydrate.
While I was in line the new castle show started, I wish I could have seen it better it looked really cool. But once again, I’ll be in Disneyland in September so I hope I can see it there.

After receiving my corndog nuggets and cup of ice I headed to Haunted Mansion, walking upstream through all the people waiting for the fireworks. I had heard on Disboards that the Haunted Mansion is much better at night.

183891_10100128937564943_6204802_51866350_5467287_n.jpg

It was alright, I was tired and the ride kept stopping. While I was in the ride the fireworks had been going, as I got off it occurred to me that the parade would be going by and there would be no way to get out of the park. So I decided to head to fantasyland and ride It’s a Small World; one of my favorite rides.

190670_10100128937679713_6204802_51866352_406513_n.jpg

It was strange going in through the previous exit, but the line moved quickly and I’m really glad I decided to ride! I didn’t take any pictures in the ride, my battery was dying.

189814_10100128937734603_6204802_51866354_1610560_n.jpg

My proof picture, I made it! 4 parks in 1 day! Ok time for bed.

By now the crowds had cleared out a bit, so I headed for the exit at 8:40pm. I arrived back at my room around 9:30 (not sure on this time) I then laid out my clothes for the morning and taped up my knee; turned on the tv and fell asleep. Oh and I set my phone alarm, clock alarm, and set up a wake up call!

I’m not sure if anyone wants to read my TR, but I’m no quitter!

I left off on Saturday night, heading back to my room to catch some sleep before waking up early for the Princess ½ Marathon. I set my phone alarm, the room clock alarm, and arranged a wakeup call (I would have also set up my iPod alarm but I don’t know how it works). I also need to tape up my knee so the tape would adhere before the morning.

The alarms went off at I believe 2:15, 2:30, and 2:45. I arranged to meet my friend at 3:20 by the Duck pool to head over to the busses together. I was late; apparently I can’t get going on my own.
It was WARM!!! Last year was so cold and I wasn’t prepared, this year I brought a blanket and a sweater and didn’t need them. I did wear the sweater for a little bit though.

We arrived in plenty of time and got to hang out in the holding area before walking to the corrals.

183644_10100129278287133_6204802_51871435_6889597_n.jpg

(holding area 4:18am)

My friend was in corral D and I was in B, so we grabbed a nice fellow runner to take our photo before separating.

(bad photo of the corral 5:21am)

The Fairy Godmother set off the corrals with a wave of her wand and fireworks.
189325_10100129279065573_6204802_51871462_6270891_n.jpg

I didn’t take too many pictures because my camera takes bad photos in the dark. I passed a hot air balloon of Space Ship Earth, the pirate ship with pirates, and the princes. I didn’t get a photo with the princes on the way out or back because I got a photo last year….and then after looking at everyone else’s photos I realized that Eric was on ground level, I could have stood next to him for a photo! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to find him another time.

I ran into the Magic Kingdom at 6:26am

I guess there were boats passing behind this DJ, because he made some joke about it. I had just assumed that was a bridge for cars, I didn’t know it was for boats!

That uphill part you can see coming up is my favorite part of the course, seriously. I love running uphill; I feel like I can run faster uphill.

These guys were a nice random surprise. Maybe the guys who play the monkeys in the Festival of the Lion King?

After running past the Contemporary we rounded a corner and went through the Employee entrance to MK (I think).
We ran backstage and then rounded a corner to see this:
183078_10100129279933833_6204802_51871485_4549187_n.jpg

Ok…before I start posting pictures of myself please know 1) my costume didn’t work out exactly as planned, I didn’t take the time to make it well 2) I either didn't stand up straight or I was walking toward the camera in all the pictures 3)I really don’t know how to pose when someone takes my photo

I know from last year that you can stand in a really long line to get your picture taken in front of the castle, and I decided to skip that. Then I saw a fellow Princess as a CM to take her picture on Main Street in front of the castle. Brilliant!

188866_10100129280253193_6204802_51871490_7004090_n.jpg

We then turned right and headed into Tomorrowland and then around past the tea cups.
190224_10100129280482733_6204802_51871497_6681006_n.jpg

Then we ran towards to the back of the castle to run through.
183089_10100129280602493_6204802_51871500_2351566_n.jpg

I think the line to the right is for Mickey and Minnie? Too long for me, and I’m not much of a fab five fan.
After running through the castle we headed right towards Liberty Square.

I got my picture taken with this famous couple:
183948_10100129280787123_6204802_51871505_2788345_n.jpg

I skipped them last year because I hadn’t seen the movie yet and didn’t realize who they were. Also notice how Tiana isn’t touching me…yeah I wouldn’t have touched me at that point either!

I saw some lovely dead ladies on the other side of the road, then Woody, and Clara bell Cow. They were on the other side from me and Woody had a long line so I skipped photos.

Then we went backstage again where they had a couple floats with characters. I saw Pinocchio and Geppetto; I saw that movie for the first time this year and it creeped me out so I skipped that photo. I think Genie might have been there also, but I don’t remember.

We ran down a tiny road, past some firemen (who seemed to be having a lovely time watching from atop their fire engine), past The Grand Floridian and the Wedding Chapel.

I saw Belle, Beast and Gaston taking photos; but once again they were on the wrong side and the road was too crowed to get over.

Then we came up on Aurora and Prince Phillip AND the fairies!! Oh my I had to stop. Unfortunately Aurora and Phillip left before it was my turn, but I did get the fairies.
183980_10100129280951793_6204802_51871510_4301908_n.jpg

My favorite picture from last year was with Princess Atta, so I had to stop for another. (they didn’t take as good of a picture this year though)
189525_10100129281021653_6204802_51871511_1137878_n.jpg

About 20 minutes later I was running past this:

I realized about this time that there was no way I could get a better time from last year. I was a little sad, I was in better shape than last year and getting passed by people left and right. But I tried to talk myself down, it was hot and I had been training outside in the 30’s and 20’s all winter and I’m a swimmer (and a sprinter at that) not an endurance runner, finishing is the goal not a time. Also at this point last year I was ready to throw up, so I guess slower but not feeling sick is better.

I decided I could run the last 2 miles, but I had to stop for one last picture:

We ran backstage again to get into EPCOT.

Finally I saw this at 8:38am:

My time was 2:48:28

I got this:

(the knee pain was minor at this point, but I wanted to prevent it from getting worse)

I had a great time and can’t wait to do it again! I hope the Disney Land race is just as fun :)

I’m not sure if anyone wants to read my TR, but I’m no quitter!

I read it all! Nice view of a quick trip, and I thought this TR was very cool! Also, a good view of what (and who) you see on the run. I'm so jealous!

Oh Thank You for reading!!!

I think Disney puts on the best races (of course I don't really have anything to compare to...). Perfect for beginners because they keep you entertained for most of the race
