We don't plan a trip to WDW or DL unless we know we have the money for it. We might book flights or rooms with the credit card, but as soon as the bill comes in, we pay it off. You are not alone.

The only thing we put on a credit card would be to book our air fare, but when the bill comes in we pay it off . . .

I always have the cash before we go . . .We figure every possible cost out and then put it aside . . .if there isn't any cash, we don't go, that's the bottom line.

yep. before we leave everything will be paid for except food and souveniers!!

I put everything on my credit cards (unless I have wound up with some Disney Dollars!) and pay them off. However, as a single person I can go fairly cheaply. I have an AP and either stay at my DVC or use Priceline. However, I did notice that Hotel Kingdom has the Courtyard DTD for $44 a night for the first weekend in May ( I am tempted!!!!)

My Dad had this marvelous saying when I was growing up - "Pay as you go - unless you're going for good !!"

We always charge but have the money and ready to pay when the bill comes in. I think I like the saying...does that mean if you don't pay as you go, you get to stay at Disney World for good!?! Might need to rethink that paying thing. LOL :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

We always have the cash in hand for our trips. The only thing that we put on the credit card are our room deposits which we pay off. We figure up how much our trip will cost with room, AP's or park hoppers, and spending $$. We always book far in advance so we have time to budget and save back with each paycheck. We also save our change. I even save all my dollar bills for extras. Last year I completely paid for a long weekend at the beach that way. So if we don't have the cash to play, we don't play!

We absolutely pay cash, or we don't go. I couldn't enjoy my trip if I knew I was taking on debt to do it.

Paid in full before we go! Even the kids have to have spending money saved.

Well, I save about 15 months for our trips. We don't spend anything other than what is saved for the trip. I work my buns off to party and play for about 7-10 good days at WDW each year or so. This is the only time of the year that I don't worry about the bills. It works for us. I don't like charge cards. I don't want another one, even a Disney one. Usually, we spend about $3000 to $5000 on a trip to WDW. This is mostly spent on hotels, food, and collectable pieces. It works for us, but then again, we are DINK's and that makes a huge difference on where our spending priorities are. I would never put a WDW trip on a charge card! Mickey

Definitely cash for everything except car rental and that's paid when the bill comes in. I always use my debit card for everything possible and take along actual cash for little things you can't use a card on. It's a nice feeling to know you don't have that bill to pay off when you get home. We save our change during the year and that's what we usually use to pay off the car rental bill. We don't go as often as we'd like to, but we go often enough and it's still a thrill every time. So you're not alone in this but I think we're a rare breed in this "plastic" world.

Charge everything..get points on my credit card..and pay it off when the bill comes. We go much too often to owe when we come home.

We pay for everything in cash too. If I can't afford to do it that way, then I don't go.

We use our tax refunds. We use it for vacation trips and that is all we use it for. This trip we are ordering our passes from Paramount so we will use our Amex card but then pay it off when the bill comes in.

We're using our Tax return. So, in essence, we saved all last year for this. I would never book a vacation without money saved beforehand. Wow...you gotta have a lot of guts to do that. Or be a DINK!!! I remember what it was like to take off on any given weekend without having to worry about anything else but yourself. Ahhh, it's a distant memory. Hopefully it will come back again in my lifetime.

TTFN,
Maria

I'm in charge of the moolah, so I know what we can afford and what we can't. DH just goes along for the ride.... as the chauffer.

We use our SkyMiles card for just about everything, and pay the balance each month. As a cash payer, I used to go through quite a few checks- but now writing just a few each month is so much easier.

If I don't think that the budget can handle it....... we don't plan on going.
However, that being said- a friend of ours is in the Army Reserve and was informed last week that she's going somewhere "Sandy". She told us about this possibility last month when we were down, and asked if she went, could we come down and see her before she ships out. We said that with enough notice, and depending on what the Army was going to do with her- we would.
So our planned weekend is on 3/21, and our unplanned weekend is on 3/14. Two weekends in a row, at two different hotels. AND, DH leaves on a business trip tomorrow, to boot!! *sigh*:(

We put everything on our MilesOne card and then pay it off monthly! We have gotten many free flights by doing that!!

It is nice to know that there are others who save for over a year to go to Disney. Some of my friends think I am stupid for spending so much. I avg. about $3-4000 on a trip and it takes me about a year and a half to save for it. I always over budget for the just in case scenerio. I use some of my tax refund and buy Disney Dollars and ask for them for gifts for my son. I do charge a lot of things like the hotel, sit down dinners, and souvenirs at the parks, but pay it off when the bill comes in . I do not like carry a lot of cash on hand. It is nice to not worry about how you are going to afford to pay for your vacation while you are on it.
