32 + 24 + 20 + 4 = 5 Fantasmic Days in the World --4/2 update

I really enjoyed all your flashback pictures! Your daughter is so adorable and looks like she is having the time of her life.

Happy Anniversary! Love the wedding pics. After watching so many episodes of "Say Yes to the Dress", its nice to see a flashback to the old dresses. I probably scan one of my wedding pics one of these days.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but Denny and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in the world about 3 weeks before our actually anniversary. We had the absolute best time. We didn't actually book it thinking "anniversary". We just couldn't pass up the free dining at the time, but decided to turn it into an anniversary celebration. Once we put those 20 year pins on we felt like celebs. Every CM was so nice to us and we got several nice little perks throughout the trip, including balloons from Pop. It was very cool.

Thanks for sharing the wedding pictures. Congratulations. Twenty years is certainly no small feat. I also love the pictures from your first Disney trip. Katie is so young and so adorable. How old was she there? And you are correct...CSR is really beautiful. If there's a July trip (and that's a big IF), we may stay there. Although Mark really wants to go back to the BC. :lmao: I find this hillarious, as he's all about saving money in every other aspect of his life.

I'm glad you had such a good time on your NYC trip. Times Square can be a lot of fun and the new Disney store is pretty cool. I never saw the Mama Mia show on Broadway, just the movie, but the show must have been great. And I know what you mean... Mom... mom... mommy...add in my kids at school calling out Mrs. Caplan every three seconds and well...you can lose your mind! :rotfl: I had a moment during our snow storm last weekend, when Mark had gone to the gym and I somehow convinced Max to stay in his room for an hour and the house was totallly quiet and I just sat for awhile, watching the snow, and thought, "Wow...its nice to just sit for a moment without anyone, wanting anything." :goodvibes Of course, kids are pretty amazing, too.

Your DHS plans look like they'll be a blast. I think you're smart after a day of so much touring, to have dinner at your resort. That will be a nice, relaxing way to end you day. :thumbsup2

I also have to add that while Mark and I can certainly eat, we did find the Deluxe plan to be way tooo much food. It can be OK if you plan it right, maybe breakfast or an early lunch and mostly signatures later at night. But even, so its a LOT. We went without a dining plan at all in July and we loved it. We could cancel things whenever we wanted, which is helpful with an unpredictable four year old. That said, we're going with the regular plan this time, so we'll see what we think of that.

Mary Ellen, the plans sound great for the day. You will LOVE Beauty & The Beast (one of my favorite shows at all of the parks). We cancelled 50's Prime Time in September too and hope to fit it in this trip.

I think you and Joe will really like One Man's Dream; we try to catch it at least every other trip.

The rest of the plans sound terrific.

I don't know why we've never seen One Man's Dream--its on the list we just never seem to get the timing right! and I have been trying to work in Beauty and the Beast since 2007!:confused3

I am so happy you are finally getting away for a real anniversary trip. We never had a real honeymoon or big trips together but finally managed to get away for our 10th on the Dream.

That is so cute that you can see the Indiana Jones show since it was your first date movie:goodvibes
We are SO looking forward to this trip. Even though I still have a momentary lapse where I consider bringing Katie, I think that this trip will be great for us too. Hmm what will we talk about for a week with no child interruption?:rolleyes1

Subbing!!!!

I am off to bed but I will be back to see what going on here! :goodvibes
:welcome:Tim! Thanks for coming by!

I love watching Say Yes to the Dress... and also DAvid Tutera's wedding show where he redoes everything. The Disneyland princess wedding had Katie and I both teary eyed! Even Joe had to watch the end of that one (shhhhh)

How fun Mary Ellen - they had actual 20 year pins? cool! but they probably don't have them any more. we'll see.

Joe is usually mr. budget guy too but not for Disney:woohoo::woohoo:

Katie was 3 1/2 for our first trip. She was great - she really had not seen any characters or parades or anything until we got there so it was just a magical trip of firsts. And she still took naps, so we let her nap in her stroller as we took in the scenery and the people in the parks.

Kids are great, and while I don't have the patience to be a teacher (God bless you!) I do love being involved with Katie and with brownies and sunday school.

Have to give my :littleangel: credit - she took over doing the living room and front hall floors with the swiffer wet jet, and then decided to wipe down the front of the cabinets, stove, and dishwasher. NICE!

Yeah, see I like the idea of being able to have more than one sit down a day if I want, but really it would be too much for us for the most part. We just don't do big breakfasts and if we have a big lunch then would just want a salad or something for dinner so the regular plan is perfect for us. though last May we realized that Katie is sort of outgrowing the kids plans, so we will not do dining plan when we take her next - then we can still pay kids admission to the park, and just let her order from either menu, depending on what she is in the mood for. Last year it took us a day or two to realize that at QS meals kids don't HAVE to order from the kids menu, so i know the one day I let her have my adults meal and I had the kids meal at lunch.

Wonderful flashback pictures! And congratulations, it is such an accomplishment, especially today.

I love the idea of a couples WDW trip. One Man's Dream is wonderful and even more so (honestly) if you don't have the kids with you going...are you done yet? Your day sounds really great, I love PTC, it's a ton of fun and good food too. You might need a nap after dinner though with that lunch as well, drinks by the pool, or a walk around the lake to walk it off can be lovely.

Thanks Cynthia!

Are we done.....
with kids? yes, God has blessed us with one, and apparently is very wise in that. :rotfl:
with the day? yes, after all that walking, riding, eating, etc. we will be quite done!
with the PTR? no, I am taking a lesson from Tim (thatsnice) and pacing myself:lmao::rotfl2: My board time has really been cut into with basketball practice and life so I am having to choose between reading everyone else's trips & working on my own.

We keep missing PTC, and normally do not have 2 TS meals in a day, but I am thinking if we have a very light breakfast, that we can make it work for one day. Joe prefers an earlier dinner normally so I think that 7 hours between lunch & dinner we'll be okay. We are not big snackers -- a piece of fruit or a 90 cal fiber one bar is what we usually bring to the parks. Every time I see all the deliciously yummy snacks that people have here on the boards, I think "OH I WANT THAT" but I know that unless we completely skip a meal it probably won't happen.

We are thinking that because we'll be at YC that we will probably walk back to the resort that evening & have time to freshen up/relax (nap in Joe's case:rotfl:) before dinner.

Same pin. They just wrote "20th" in there - NICE AND BIG!!!!!!
YAY!

I see you are back Kathy. Sad to leave the girls & Disney but nice to be back with your boys, right?

Life is crazy, and this trip is 8 months away – June 2012 – so I promise that I won’t be doing daily updates. Really! Don’t give up on me, but don’t feel guilty if you don’t get here all the time – I won’t be here either. I’ll probably be on YOUR PTR or TR! But I hope you stop over when you have a few minutes!

:lmao::lmao:

You are too funny!!! :lmao:

Congrats on the Beach Club!!! :woohoo: errrr..... I mean the Yacht Club! :yay:

I have never been to WDW without kids so I can't tell you which is better... I think you deserve a few days alone with your DH. ;)

Don't forget... if your friends do end up coming, you can 'link' your reservations and request adjoining rooms. (I'm not sure if they are staying club level and I don't know the layout of YC but they should request a building near the club rooms):goodvibes

So. I'm going through your updates 1 by one and I'm sure you've made some adjustments... forgive me if I don't realize it till later. :hippie:

Dining
I love Raglan Rd. I've only had great meals here.. I think we have eaten there 2 times.

50's PT. This is on my 'possibles' list for November. We have never eaten here.

CP- Early breakfast here is sooo good! :goodvibes

OK... so you go and change all your ADRs on me! :rotfl2: Maybe I should read through the whole report before I comment. LOL

I see Kona breakfast has made your 'new' list... I talked Kathy into eating there. You better not change this one. It is sooo good there!

Your park day plans look good so far. ::yes::

Oh, and Katie is such a QT! I can see how it will be hard leaving her home. ;) princess:

All caught up! :yay:

:lmao:You know how the whole ADR thing works..... nothing is ever completely settled. Its so hard to pick!! I am still debating some changes shhhhh I still really want to Raglan Road, Joe had talked about adding a day so maybe we can work it in now. ;)

Oh Kona will not be changed. Joe has seen pictures of that Tonga Toast and there is no way he is going to miss that one!

It will be hard to leave her, though she will be with her aunt and her cousins. We were talking about it the other morning, you know, trying to make a week at her aunt's sound like as much fun as a week at Disney:rotfl2: We said "you always said you wanted a brother, right?" and she VERY QUICKLY said "no, SISTER" oops:goodvibes

June 7

THIS is the day that we WILL see the rope drop show at the Magic Kingdom. Last year we almost made it. We missed the ferry by one minute and the next ferry brought us to the MK dock to see this (can you see Mickey in the train station? Barely!) This time, we will be at the MK by 7:30 a.m.

I do think that this day we may break down and drive to the MK or at least to the TTC .Any one have insight on the travel process/time from YC to MK? I know it a bus, but have heard that because there are three resorts in that one area, it can take quite a while just to get out of the resort area. I want to first see the rope drop show at MK. MK opens at 8 am. we WILL make it there on time this time!!

Once we see RD, I want to get Colin and Lesley into the park to the guest relations first thing, to request that Colin be able to participate in the Flag Ceremony at the end of the day. I just saw Brooke (brookelizabeth)’s TR and her video and pictures of the Flag Ceremony. (great video!) and truly hope that Colin can But wait MK, we will be back! We haven’t had breakfast yet. We have an ADR at Kona! I love the ferry system at WDW, and we will hop on a ferry over to Poly. mmmmm We are having Tonga Toast for breakfast. oh yeah ! Can’t wait!
tonga+toast1.jpg

We may explore the Polynesian a little while we are there, for certain we will stop in the gift shop – they had a lot of fun items last May so I am looking forward to see what new little items they have again. I think the hard part for me here is that I really want to wander the resort and explore, but I know that I will also be very anxious to get to a park.

After Poly, we can decide first if there was anything unfinished at DHS. I plan on spending the late afternoon and evening at MK, so this will be our last chance to do any “misses” at DHS.

Depending on the answer we will either head over to DHS or take the ferry back over to the Magic Kingdom. Maybe we will split up and the guys head to DHS and the girls to MK. We’re flexible :goodvibes I am hoping to spend the whole day at MK, but also know that our last afternoon and evening will be at the MK too.

Joe and I are both looking forward to checking out some of the newly opened areas of Fantasyland. It was fun trying to peek over the fence last May, so it will be great to see some of the finished areas. I do occasionally read the updates on the DisUnplugged, but I sort of want to be surprised by what is there, too.

We have never really take out time going through all the shops down main Street, so I really want to do that. I just saw a few photos of a glass blower – I didn’t even know that one existed in the MK, but understandably don’t linger in an all glass store with a little girl who must touch EVERYTHING. Seeing those pictures started me wondering “What else is there that we haven’t seen ?” Well folks, any little tidbits leading us to previously unknown displays or craftsmen?

I have no lunch or dinner reservations for Thursday. That’s because we are planning to do the Wishes Dessert party around 9-9:30 to see the fireworks. I know we will eat somewhere during the mid – late afternoon, and it will probably be Columbia Harbor House. If we are lucky, the Tomorrowland Terrace will be open --- the menu at this QS looks delish, but we have NEVER managed to find this place open. Will June be the first? We shall see! Has ANYONE eaten here? I can’t even remember seeing it mentioned in a TR.

Regardless of where we eat, we will make our way through MK, probably spending the most time between Tomorrowland visiting Stitch and fighting the Evil Emperor Zurg, and Adventureland. Maybe this will be the visit where I ride Space Mountain. I love a wild mouse type ride, but the dark makes me a little nervous – I wonder how it will effect my motion sickness?

Touringplans has MK listed as a 7 for this day – so we may not get to ride as much as I would like, but we will keep it relaxed. Weather and crowd depending, we may just go back to the resort mid day, swim, snack and then hit the park for the late afternoon and evening. Tonight we will go to the Wishes Dessert party to watch the fireworks. When the park closes at 10 we will be quite ready for a relaxing drink at our resort and call it a night.

Great plans. KONA is to die for...be sure to get the pressed pot coffee. I hope your friend can particpate in the flag ceremony...that would be so cool.

I think the Flag ceremony is so very cool! I hope they get to participate. Your plans look great. Oh - and the Tonga Toast - I  it!!!!!!! Yum!

weird that my edits came up as a second post. oops

So I thought I'd share a little of my craziness by sharing with you an email that I sent to my TA yesterday....

Please don't put me on the "annoying can't make up her mind" client list! :)

My BFF called last night to say yes, they can go with us to Disney in June -- as long as we all room together its in their budget. WAHOO. I emailed her this morning and asked if she was absolutely sure before I add them to our reservation.

Then Joe called and asked me if I had seen the Backstage Safari Tour (But really its called the Wild Africa Trek). HELLOOO Novice! Of course I looked at it but when I saw the rope bridges, I figured that was out. Today he said one of his buddies took the tour and loved it, and he was sure he would be okay with it because you are in a safety harness.

OK so you can disregard this but I just thought I would share with you how complicated I make my life sometimes.

So in between working this afternoon, I got to thinking back to one of my earlier thoughts: staying in a moderate and purchasing the premium DDP -- the one that includes every tour, mini golf, and 3 TS meals a day. hmm then we could do a tour a day, and have some signature meals. but i am not sure if its a great idea. Is it too big an undertaking to take a special park tour basically every day? would we spend our whole day eating and touring and not doing rides and shows in the parks?? AAAAGGHHH help! Plus, overall, the total cost of a moderate, Prem DDP, 5day park hopper for 4 cannot cost more (well a little would be acceptable but close) than upping our current ressie to add two people, which would be $4106.72 (see I keep all your totals in my big spreadsheet!).

am I crazy????? Usually I play on the planning site first but since they are now offering room only discounts or free dining, they don't even list the premium plan in the dining options, so I am not able to see if its even feasible, before I even mention it to Joe (who is really looking forward to the lazy river and being able to walk to DHS and Epcot).

thought you'd get a chuckle!!!

I just called Joe to see what he thought of my crazy idea and he is totally looking forward to YC so we won't change that at all and will do just one tour.
We will definitely be doing the Backstage Safari - I am waiting to hear from Lesley & Colin whether they are 100% and how they feel about the tour, so I know whether we will all 4 go, or we will split up for a little while. :)

and of course this means that I will have to change some of my plans and dinner reservations because AK was supposed to be a Tuesday, and they don't offer that tour on Tuesdays.

so this email is no work for you at all, just a chance to chuckle at my obsessiveness with all things Disney. ;)
Naturally, she replied with laughter:rotfl2:

BUT then my BFF texted that they are once again not 100% so I still don't know how many people are in our party!

I do know, however, that Joe and I will be taking the
Wild Africa Trek while we are at Disney. I also know that this adventure tour is not offered on the day I had planned to be at Animal Kingdom. AND DH wants to extend our trip one night so that we can party in the MK till 1 am and still crash in luxury at the YC. SO that means that I have some work to do.
work you ask?

Yep, gotta rearrange our park days, change some ADRs, and since we are adding a day, we will have one more day of meal plan....one more TS ADR!

so, where to go? what to do? we could do a nice TS breakfast the day we are leaving, or we could squeeze in something on another day since I am now thinking of moving our Kona ADR to Saturday morning. Thoughts??

Oh and I am totally stealing an inspiration from PrincessCaitlin & her mom Dawn. I think I have to experiment with some new drinks at WDW. Caitlin had some yummy sounding drinks to pick from, so I will have to look into but I am SO SURE that you my friends can steer me in the right (:drinking1) direction. Bear in mind that while I occasionally enjoy a light flavored beer, I am not a big beer fan. I LOVE wine and mixed drinks though.

In an effort to support my church, which sells gift cards as fundraiser, I have started ordering Disney gift cards to use to support this new inspiration. and No, for those of you who ask, I find nothing wrong or ironic with supporting my church with planned drinking. :rotfl::rotfl:

I honestly don't recall the bus taking that long. I remember hearing that but the only time it seemed to take forever was once, coming back from the MK. It seems to me the day we did it for EMH we were on a bus and in the park within 20-30 minutes tops. I'd have to check my TR though but I think we made it to the bus by 7 and were in the park by 7;30 or earlier, I know I took a picture. What order they stop at the other resorts varies by where you are going, or coming back. It seems we were last heading out but also last coming back. Which would be

Swolphin/BC/YC

We did the trek on our girls trip and LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! We started ours right at park opening so got in a little before that, it was perfect.

I so want to do the Wild Africa Trek...but it just isn't in the budget.

Keep us posted on how it all pans out plan wise.

Ooohhhh, Wild Trek Africa:thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear what you think of it. I am hoping to do it with Caitlin on our girl's only trip but she is a little scared of the rope bridges. I am afraid I will pay for it and she won't want to walk across them. Since you have a daughter around the same age I look foward to hearing if you think Katie would enjoy it or not.

Thanks! I usually have no problem with DW transports (sans Iron Man Competition traffic:lmao:) so you have reassured me. DH was not keen on having to drive the car from park to park. Its one of the big perks to him to be able to let someone else deal with it.

I called today to the YC itinerary planner to schedule the 8 am tour. :cool1: I think that early mornings are a great time to see all of the animals. I found out that they likely will have tours on the Tuesday that we had slated for AK so maybe I won't have to change everything around.

I am also learning that its a big benefit to be able to use the YC planner instead of my TA because the dates for June tours & Wishes have not been published yet. I can just give the YC my cc# and preferred dates and they will take care of it instead of my TA having to monitor the schedules.

I so want to do the Wild Africa Trek...but it just isn't in the budget.

Budgets are funny funny stretchy things in Disney World:lmao:

I will fill you in, though Katie is quite an adventure girl. We'll see how Joe and I do on the rope bridges!

Sorry for being AWOL friends! Actually I've been around on the DIS, reading up and thinking "man I have got to get it together for June!"

I have had quite a few message back and forth with our TA and with the YC Concierge making changes.

I called the YC Concierge to see about scheduling the Wild Africa Trek. SO PSYCHED to do this tour!
here are a few borrowed pictures:

June schedules have not been released yet, but the concierge desk will make a reservation once dates are released for June. The web sites I read about this tour mentioned that it was only available on Monday, Wednesday & Friday - I was thinking I had to do a lot of shuffling, but when I called the YC, they said that it looks like the tour will be offered on most days. I was glad and am hoping to be able to do it on Tuesday, our Animal Kingdom Day. Wednesday was our second choice. either day, the 8 am tour. yay!

funny story - over the weekend, Joe and I were watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. We had already commented about how the part of the tour over the crocodiles was very Indiana Jones. So we are watching the movie, and get to the scene closer to the end where, of course, Indiana Jones (mmmm Harrison ford. yum) is on what? a rope bridge? over a river? full of what you say?Crocodiles. :rotfl:
1indy-tod-bridge.jpg

then, he does what would be Joe's worst nightmare .....he cuts the rope bridge (to make the bad guys fall of course). Joe points out that perhaps it was not THE best movie to be watching while planning a walk on a rope bridge over a river full of crocodiles.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We did not have to change any dinner reservations for Tuesday or Wednesday. But you know how it is, once you accept that you have to make a change, a change is bound to happen!

Did I mention that the MK is open til 1 am on our last day in the World? We really wanted to be able to close the park down, but we will be checking out of the YC on Friday morning. Hmm
will we hit the road in the wee hours?
will we sleep in our car in the parking lot?
will we miss the EMH and just leave the MK at a more reasonable hour for driving?

Nope.

We'll be sleeping here:(pictures borrowed from POP thread)

Since we our DDP will end on Friday at midnight, I decided that it made sense to move our Kona breakfast from Thursday to Saturday. We were going to pay OOP anyway, and we will not have DDP on Saturday so this will work out for a great end to tour trip.

And, knowing that we will be able to stay late on Friday, we won't want/need a bigger lunch --the plan had been to have a good lunch at Liberty Tree tavern then hit the road. But now we will spend the morning/early afternoon at Epcot, and have a late dinner at

YAY!!! And, with this change, leaves us time to eat at one more place that I keep missing:

Seasons%20sign.jpg

I am really looking forward to this QS restaurant having seen so many delicious looking meals here on the DIS.

I will have more plans posted soon, but Thor is reminding me that its late and he and I both need to go to bed.

'Night all!
