30th Birthday Roadtrip - 8/8/09-8/16/09 - Finally Completed!!!

Your family is adorable. That baby boy of yours is soo cute! I love his smile!

Our first full day at Disneyland started out bright & early, since we were taking advantage of MM. I can not tell you how much I love that hour in the park. It is so quiet!!

Unfortunatly, I must have run our kids ragged over the previous week because by the time we got to the park DD(3) was sound asleep in the stroller. :rotfl: So my mom was nice enough to sit with her, while DH & I took DD(5) and DS on rides. We started with Peter Pan, then went on Dumbo & the Carousel.

Look behind DH & DS in the first picture....there is NOBODY there! That is why I love the MM hour!

After the Carousel, I took DD(5) on the teacups and DH took her on Alice. About this time, the BBB was opening for business and my mom wanted to see what it was all about. I had plans to avoid the store all together, knowing the girls would want to do it and knowing how much $$$ that was going to cost us. But, I got outvoted and we went in! And of course the girls fell in love. And they had time do the makeovers for both of them. So we broke down and decided to let them do it.

Let me tell you, it's completey worth every penny. It was wonderful and they really took their time. They had a personal shopper who helped pick out their outfits, laid them out in a dressing room (Cinderella's mice "made" them in the back first), they got their hair, nails & makeup done. My girls have A LOT of hair and they made sure every last piece was in place. It was so much fun to watch.

After they were done, they got to the photoshoot, which they absolutely loved.

When we came outside there was a little boy who absolutely fell in love with them and finally his mom asked if she could take a picture of him with them. I have a picture too, but I guess I didn't upload it to photobucket. Oops.

DH has been outside with a sleeping DS the entire time and seeing his reaction to his 2 princesses was priceless.

through81709408.jpg

After they were done, we went the most logical place - the Princess Fanstasy Fair. I thought for sure I was going to be able to avoid it this trip since they had done it so many times before and they weren't really big on autographs this trip. But they just *had* to show off to the other princesses. Unfortunatly, neither Aurora or Jasmine were there, much to my girls' dissapointment. After that we went on IASW - I love the changes!

After that it was getting close to lunch time and decided to go Storyteller's. On our way we cut through CA to get fastpasses to Soarin' - the only "big" ride our DD(5) would agree to do. We had a great lunch at Storyteller's - the girls each had the make your own pizza, I had the corn chowder soup (which I ) - not sure what DH had, but he liked it.

through81709441.jpg

The girls were a big hit there and DD(3) spent most of lunch dancing around our table, because as I was told by her "that's what princesses do MOM!".

Cont. in next post

After lunch we headed back into CA to go on Soarin' and were able to pick up another set of fastpasses for later on. Both girls loved this ride - it was their first time!

through81709445.jpg

I feel like we did something else, but since I don't have any notes or pictures, I'm not sure. I do know that we headed over to TOT because DD(3) wanted to go on it! She is our daredevil!! And she loved it.

Untitled-1.jpg

During the time we were on the ride, DD(5) decided to change out of her costume because she was getting hot. I thought for sure DD (3) would want to change too, but not at all. They saw Snow White and then we headed back over to Soarin'. It was about this time DD (3) finally decided she wanted to change also. Oh well. We're taking them to Disney on Ice next weekend, so they'll be able to wear them again soon.

We headed back to DL for the parade. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I really enjoyed it. Probably because we had perfect seats (across from Gibson Girl) and the the girls got picked to partcipate. We have a tradition in that we always get ice cream & watch the parade.

through81709458.jpg

Even the baby got a taste ;)

through81709459.jpg

Like I said, our seats were perfect

And of course the girls had to pick up all the Mickey head confetti

through81709501.jpg

After the parade we made our way over to Adventureland. The baby needed to eat, so while DH & I fed him solids, my parents took the girls on The Jungle Cruise. We decided we were going to take DS on it ourselves and as we were parking the stroller, this woman walks by this girl who is sitting on the wall and yells something at her. The girls, who is maybe 12 bursts into tears. I go over to her and she explains to me that her dad went to the bathroom and she was waiting for him. I guess she dropped her soda, soaking herself and I guess this woman got hit with a little also. Through her tears, the girls explains to us that the woman yelled at her "this is vintage 40's b*tch" and threw her gum at her. I give the girl some wipes to try to clean herself up and try to calm her down until her dad gets there. Her dad comes over, she tells him the story, I tell him what the woman looked like and he takes off after her. I don't exactly know what happened, but he confronted her & made her feel like crap for doing that. I tell the girl I hope she is able to enjoy the rest of her day, give her a hug and she says thank you.

By this time my parents & the girls are off the ride, so my parents go off looking for something and we take all 3 kids on the Jungle Cruise. We headed back to Fantasyland to watch the fireworks. It had been a good place in the past, but not so much for the new show. But we got to see Dumbo & Tinkerbell so the kids were happy. DH & I shared a personal pizza and the girls split a chicken fingers kids meal from that CS place in Fantasyland. After that we head over to Big Thunder Mountain, something DD(5) went on our last trip but flat out refused on this trip. So DD(3) and I went on. Again, she loved it. When we got off, this is what we found

through81709525.jpg

Sleeping Beauty had finally give in

DH & I switched places and he took DD(3) on BTMRR again! From the bench I was sitting on, I could see a little bit of Fantasmic so we watched that for a bit. By this time DS had joined DD(5) in slumber, so it was only DD(3) raring to go - remember she napped most of the morning. So we took her back to Fantasyland and I took her on Dumbo & the Carousel before calling it a night.

She was thrilled because she finally got to ride Jingles - her sister normally beats her to it. But I do have to tell this story - DD(3) & I were first in line and we end up with an older couple (early 60s) behind us. They hear me telling DD about Jingles and pointing out which one it was and all of a sudden the wife declares she wants to ride it. They actually tried to beat us there. But because I knew the fastest way to get there, we beat them. But really, they were going to try to take it from a 3 year old? :confused3

through81709535.jpg

After this it was time to head back to the hotel, much to DD(3)'s chagrin (sp?). I had packing to do and kids to get to bed since the next day was our final day in DL :sad2:

I'm looking forward to the next part. It sounds like you guys had a great time. I did not know that they do a photoshoot at BBB. That is really nice considering how much it costs.

Oh I do adore the picture of both the girls in the pumpkin. Soooo sweet!

You know it always upsets me when people make kids feel like crap and make them cry, but when someone does it to a little girl in the Happiest place on Earth, and to throw something at her. Let alone if it was an adult, its so rude ( I guess her mother didn't teach her that accidents happen) but to a child.... That was very nice of you to help cheer her up. Not many people would do that.

I am enjoying your report. Sounds like you had a great time! Love the princess pics of the girls. Those are priceless. Also, always seems like the younger one ends up being the dare devil!

OMG I am so embarrassed that it has taken me almost 4 months to get back to this trip report. No excuses really, except to say that life got busy - The holidays, DD's 4th birthday, the baby's 1st birthday, kids out of school, sickness. I'm sure you've all been there. But I AM going to finish this trip report even if it's just for me.

So, we're now on our final day of our trip. My stepdad and mom elected not to come to the parks this day and instead started the long drive home. Thankfully DH is like me and will squeeze every single last second out of a trip before we have to leave. Back to DL we go! (oh and small side note for anybody thinking of doing the BBB - the girls' hair stayed perfectly in place overnight. They elected to have it taken down, although I made them keep the ponytail part because brushing through that mess would not have been fun.)

DisneyPhotoImage8.jpg

We head straight back towards Splash Mountain because it's the one ride DD(3) wanted to do our previous trip and was 1/2 in. too short for. She wants me to ride with her, so we get the parent swap pass and we're off. She loved it!

through81709541.jpg

This is the one DH took (we're in the back)

And here is the one taken on the ride (I had to buy it for her!)
Untitled-5.jpg

When we got off, she decided she didn't want to go again, so we made our DD(5) go on with DH. I knew she'd like it once she was on, but she wasn't very happy about having to on. And I was right, she loved it. Unfortunately, you can't see her in their picture, so we weren't able to buy one for her. :sad1:

As a reward for being brave enough to try it, I bought them each a pack of Mickey head lollipops. You can see DD(5) was highly impressed with this. :rolleyes1

through81709548.jpg

After that we went on Winnie the Pooh - DS really like it :goodvibes

through81709551.jpg

And we did our traditional "watch them grow" shot. Normally DH & I aren't in, but we just couldn't take DD(5) up on her offer to hold him "really carefully" up there.

through81709547.jpg

We didn't have a lot of time this last day, so I asked the girls what they wanted to do - they wanted to do TSMM & Bugs Life area in DCA, so off we went.

Had to get one last one with the bridge....after all that's "OUR" bridge (we're from the SF Bay Area).

through81709555.jpg

We went on TSMM and then I took the girls on King Triton's carousel, while DH fed the baby a bottle.

through81709558.jpg

Off to Bug's Land we go....

I think we did everything here, but the bumper cars is where they wanted to spend most of their time.

through81709560.jpg

It was sadly time for us to leave and start our own very long drive home. But before we went I had to get two more of our "traditional" shots.

DisneyPhotoImage3.jpg

through81709565.jpg

It wasn't until we driving home I realized we should have done the "L" in California since our last name starts with L, but oh well.

I promised myself I would not immediately start talking to DH about our next Disney trip. I would wait days, if not weeks to start bugging him. And I did so good - I made it all the way through Los Angeles before bringing it up. :rotfl2:

We made it home safely late that night with 3 very tired, but happy children. Our ticker says we're going back in June, but for many reasons that probably won't happen. We're now thinking of a Christmastime trip, which has us all very excited! Although DD(now 4!) asks me every day if we can go tomorrow. Aww, a girl after my own heart. :lovestruc

Thank you all for following along and for accepting my apology on the ridiculous lateness on getting this last entry up. I promise if I do another report, it will be better!!

Just read through your report - loved it! And it looks like you all had a great time (minus the hiccups, but they are innevitable sometimes). And hey, sometimes you need a little 'break' when writing your TR ... I had a few months of gaps of my own, lol.

Glad to see you've got an upcomming date already!! Do you think you'll doanother TR?

I just read thru your entire TR and I thought it was great! your kids are beautiful and looks like you all had a great time! Cant wait to read the next one!

I enjoyed your report of both Vegas & DL.....I've never been to Vegas, but found your pics intriguing!!!

Your kids did sooooooo good!! Your son was all smiles in all the pics....wish we could be so lucky with our twins.....heavy sigh.

I loved the pics from the BBB, we're thinking of doing that this trip for our 4 yr old.....she's a princess-fanatic....so this would just let everyone else know that she's a princess....lol

Thanx for sharing your trip & family with us.......I loved it!!

I just read your trip report. I have never been to DisneyLand and I really want to. We usually do Disney World. Your kids are so cute:flower3:. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you waited so long to finish, otherwise I would have probably missed the whole thing!

We are hoping to go to Disneyland this July or August, what were the crowds like?

Thanks everybody for reading!

I haven't been in July so I can speak for that, but we've been 3x in August and honestly never found it to be that bad. I know some people report it being crazy and maybe it is, but it just doesn't feel that way to us. I think the longest lines were TSMM and to see Tink & friends (Pixie Hollow).

We make sure to utilize MMs when available and we normally rest during the day allowing our children to stay up until closing (which we didn't do on this particular trip).

Have fun on your trip!
