My DS has just turned 3 and is not yet potty trainned. ("We are trying so hard," she said in a near desperate tone.) But, I know that if he isn't fullypotty trainned by cruise time, he'll have to go to FRN.

Question: If DS isn't potty trainning, do I still have to pay his $284 fare/tax? Or would I be able to get the $99 infant rate and use the difference to pay for FRN? Is seems unfair that I would have to pay both the higher fare and babysitting costs. Am I being punished (near tears)? We are really, really trying.

Actually, we have been making progress, and since our trip is in May, I'm confident (fingers crossed) that DS will be just fine, but what if? And what exactly consititues 'fully' potty trainned? Are no accidents allowed (Hmmm)?

I think that it may be wishful thinking that you'll get a lower rate since he's not potty trained.

I'm sure that they have some accidents in the clubs - and you would be paged if he had one - as they do not 'change' accidents in the club. They do not accept any children with any kind of diaper OR pull-up though.

You may be surprised how far your child will come in the potty training stage in four months! I'll try to send some pixie dust your way!;)

I was exactly where your at just a few months ago. Ds turned 3 in Oct. and he was being so stubborn! We are set to cruise in just 2 weeks and he is doing great. You have plenty of time yet and if he is making progress already he will probably do fine. I don't think you would be elligible for the infant rate if he is not trained though, I think that's more of an age thing. Good luck and don't stress too much:)

I just returned from the Magic with a 3 and 4 year old. When I was checking the kids into the club they were very specific about them being fully trained. They give them two accidents and then they are not allowed back in the club. My 3 year old son is trained but he cannot wipe himself. He went to the bathroom and tried to wipe but did not manage to do it perfectly. When I went to get him he was so upset he would not go back to the club after that he just kept saying "I didn't have an accident mommy". Because he was so upset I spoke with the counselor and told her he did not have an accident he just had trouble wiping. I have no idea what they said to him but whatever it was he was in tears and he would not go back. I found some of the counselors to be very good with the children and some of them did not impress me at all. If my daughter did not keep asking to go back I would have kept her with us also. While she was there I would check on her at least once every hour.

I'll send some positive vibes your way too. My DD was nearly four before she was fully potty-trained and it was just in the nick of time for our first DC. Now we're going through the same thing with our DS - although it is a little different situation. We're hoping beyond all hope that he can get into the club as his third birthday is just 41 days after our sailing date. He is a big, talkative, mature boy and I just can't picture him in a nursery with infants. Anyway - the sailing date is just six days away and he is now in underwear all day and night with no accidents - so maybeeeee  I'm sure you will be in good shape by May and will have a GREAT time!

If he is not fully trained I think I would try stopping in the kids club every 2 hours or so and taking him to the bathroom myself unless he is doing ok on his own .

we cruise on March 9th. we've waited over 18 months for the 7-day so that ds can be in the club. he turned 3 last october. he's been pretty good telling us when he's needed to pee, but stubborn as anything regarding bms. but, i think we've finally turned the corner! woo-hoo! :bounce:

what we did to encourage the movement (so to speak) was to put him into "big boy" underwear all but at bedtime. he's even been able to nap with underwear vs. diaper. the best thing you can do is NOT use pull-ups. they only prolong the agony for you. it only took two accidents to convince him to tell us when he needed to "go potty."

i'm sending pixie dust your way that you have as much success! it will certainly make for a better cruise for all of you.
