3 WDW Trips in 6 months: August, October and December Reports *Completed*

I am really happy that I got to stay in the Broadway section. The only downside was the far walk to the main building but it wasn't too bad.

I really want to stay at Movies. :rotfl2:

Yeah, Broadway did seem a little farther from the main building. It was about in the same place in Music as the Love Bug area was at Movies. Still, not a bad walk at all.

Movies was really a blast. Maybe someday you can give it a try... or French Quarter... or Riverside. There's just so many great resorts at Disney.

musiccont1-600.jpg

Continuing on through All Star Music, we paid a quick visit to the Jazz Inn. One of the things I thought was cool at Music was these little fountains and garden areas. I don’t remember Pop or Movies having things like this other than statues and photo opportunities. It reminded me more of the moderate resorts, which was nice too. Had to wait a while to get this shot because there was what seemed like a never-ending string of people walking through it. Must have been some sort of sports or dance team. I managed to get in this picture during a small break in their procession to the main building.

musiccont2-600.jpg

Over in the Calypso area, the pool had a Three Caballeros theme. I still can’t believe how much these three have in the parks- the ride in EPCOT, the gift shop at Coronado Springs, the pool at All Star Music, a poster in Philharmagic… I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple more.

musiccont3-600.jpg

musiccont4-600.jpg

In Melody Hall, I headed over to check out the gift shop. After all, I still had my birthday Disney Dollars to spend! Up until now, I had figured I’d just get some pins, but by now I was beginning to think about maybe getting the Disney World Official Album on CD. I had seen it at the Emporium the night before, so I figured that I’d check the gift shops at the All Stars and at the EPCOT resorts and see if they have it. If it turned out they didn’t have it or I decided against getting it, I’d go back to Plan A and get some pins.

musiccont5-600.jpg

All Star Music had no copies of the Official Album, but they did have a cool Mickey mural on the wall.

asmday2cont1-600.jpg

We still hadn’t made it over to the Toy Story area in the daytime yet, so we decided to skip the rest of Music and head back to Movies so we’d have plenty of time. Of course, we had to stop for a few pictures along the way. Here’s Goofy near the Mighty Ducks pool.

asmday2cont2-600.jpg

The light was a little better and sky was a little more blue behind Pongo now, so I tried to get a better shot.

asmday2cont3-600.jpg

asmday2cont4-600.jpg

The lighting and sky were still better on Perdy though. Another fantastic blue sky day! :cloud9:

asmday2cont5-600.jpg

Finally, we made our way back to Andy’s Room.

asmday2cont6-600.jpg

Woody!

asmday2cont7-600.jpg

I got the idea for this shot before I even got to the resort based on other photos I’d seen. It didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped though. The way the sun was shining I just couldn’t get the lighting on them to match that morning. :sad2:

asmday2cont8-600.jpg

Rex!

asmday2cont9-600.jpg

Buzz Lightyear looks ready to go “to infinity and beyond!”

asmday2cont10-600.jpg

A Green Army Man on the roof.

It was getting late and as much as we wanted to stay and get more photos around Andy’s Room, we had to get going or we were going to miss our breakfast ADR at Cape May Cafe!

asmday2cont11.jpg

On the way, back to the Love Bug area, I managed to get a few last photos of the Fantasia area.

asmday2cont12-600.jpg

After going back to the room and grabbing our bags, we drove off towards the Beach Club while getting in what we thought was our last look at the All Star Resorts for this trip as we passed.

But was it really? :rolleyes1

Next Chapter: A birthday brunch with Goofy and friends.

You took some really great pictures of the icons around the resorts.

I loved the fountains at All Star Music too. They were a nice touch to the grounds I thought.

Hi Meeko!

Have had so much to catch up on, but enjoyed reading all about your day at MK and your plans for December. ASMo looks really good, especially the Toy Story area.

Your plans are coming along well for December as well, not long to go now!

Our plans are going well too, we now have our flights booked for next year, and are going for 17 nights now so we'll have 3 full weekends to look forward too!:cheer2: Just need to pay for it all now! :headache:

Looking forward to reading about your breakfast date with The Donald. :thumbsup2

Hey Di! Glad you're all caught up. I'm really trying to get the October report done before we leave again, but because of that the updates seem to be piling up fast! Since we won't be going to Disney again for a while after December, I think I'll be taking that report at a more liesurely pace so hopefully there won't be so much to catch up with every time.

17 nights? Wow, that's fantastic! I can't even imagine spending that much time at Disney all at once (although I'd love to try it sometime lol).

It's looking like I'll probably have the Cape May report up tomorrow so you shouldn't have too long of a wait for it. :)

Great pictures of the All Star resorts. :thumbsup2

If I had that gift card it would be gone in no time. :rotfl:

Yeah, I can be pretty picky about souvenirs- especially on this trip. After all, I was picking out my own birthday present and it had to be good. :rotfl:

Welcome to the Beach Club!

beachclubarrive2-600.jpg

A quick shot as we were walking up to the resort.

capemay1-600.jpg

We walked up to the podium at Cape May Cafe 15 minutes before our ARD time as recommended. It didn’t seem very busy. They were even accepting walk-ups, which made me feel a little stupid for planning so much and making the ADR exactly 90 days out, but whatever. We waited about 5 minutes before our table was ready.

capemay2-600.jpg

This was our first time trying the character breakfast here. We did the clam bake at dinner a few years back with Mom and Dad and really liked it so I figured we would like breakfast too. Turned out I was right. I didn’t think it had quite as much variety as the breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, which we’ve also done, but since it was a little less expensive I figured that going in. However, they still had a ton of options and everything we had was great. I don’t even know where to begin describing it all! I ended up making two trips to the buffet which was enough to keep me full for almost the rest of the day! I do want to say, for those who may have remembered the story about me attempting to order the chocolate croissant at Riverside and ending up with a not-so-good rye bagel by mistake, I’m happy to say that there were chocolate croissants at the buffet and they looked even better than the ones at Riverside and tasted fantastic. :thumbsup2

capemay3-600.jpg

After Buzz and I both had time to make a trip to the buffet, the characters started to come around. First was Donald in his beach attire. Donald was pretty quick: handshakes, a couple photos, and then on to the next table.

capemay4-600.jpg

The second character was Minnie who spent a little more time than Donald.

capemay5-600.jpg

The outfits the characters had on were really cool.

capemay6-600.jpg

Last was our host- Goofy who was fun this time. Goofy’s one of Buzz’s favorites, and Goofy noticed that he was wearing a Goofy t-shirt too.

capemay7-600.jpg

While Goofy was visiting, our server brought out free cupcakes for Buzz and my birthday and she and Goofy lead a chorus of “Happy Birthday”. Those cupcakes were huge too! It certainly exceeded my expectations for it being a free cupcake.

capemay8-600.jpg

Our server also brought out birthday cards for both of us signed by all the characters.

capemay9-600.jpg

The autographs inside.

capemay10-600.jpg

While we were still eating all of the characters came around again, which I was not really expecting. Donald didn’t seem in quite so much of a hurry the second time around and volunteered to pose for more photos without being asked. When Minnie came around again, I was up for some reason (maybe at the buffet?), and when I got back Buzz told me how she had come by and given him a kiss. I thought it was funny so I started playfully teasing him about him getting all these kisses from Minnie and Jessie but nobody was kissing me. Well, I think Minnie might have heard me because when she was done at her table, she came back to give me a kiss, somewhat to my embarassment after teasing Buzz so much about it. Goofy also stopped by one last time before we left.

We really had a great time at Cape May. The buffet was fantastic, the characters were a lot of fun, and our server was really personable and really helped make our birthday celebration a great one. I also thought that the restaurant in general seemed more relaxed and less noisy that some of the other character meals we tried which was a plus for us. I’d definitely recommend it, especially for adults who would appreciate a calmer character meal and wouldn’t miss all the napkin-twirling and parades that the other places have.

beachclub1-600.jpg

After breakfast, we did a little exploring around the Beach Club.

beachclub2-600.jpg

What’s a trip report without a few photos of beautiful lighting fixtures? Here’s one of the seahorse chandeliers in the lobby.

beachclub3-600.jpg

beachclub4-600.jpg

The solarium just off the lobby is one of my favorite spots in this resort. I never seem to actually take the time to enjoy it and relax in one of these cool seating area, but I do love to practice still life photography in here.

beachclub5-600.jpg

Can you find the hidden Mickey in the painting?

beachclub6-600.jpg

Blue building and blue sky.

beachclub7-600.jpg

A little different view of the Ariel statue outside.

beachclub8-600.jpg

Before leaving the lobby area, I thought I’d take a look at the gift shop to see if they had the Official Album. Still no luck. The Boardwalk has more shopping so I thought they would have it.

beachclub9-600.jpg

The lighthouse from the beach.

And across the water our next destination!

Next chapter: Boardwalk!

Cape May is on my list to do for sure. Those characters are so cute in their beach outfits.

I, of course, love the light fixture pictures. Can't wait to see your Boardwalk photos!

OOOH Leslie...we should definitely consider Cape May for October...hmmmm what do you think!!

Meeko...you made Cape May come alive for me!! I'm so excited I really really want to eat there now and look how much fun you both had!!

Sorry I always get so far behind...I blame my inability to read your title and check the dates...I'm such a ditz somedays!!!

Glad you guys had such a great last day!!!

Loved taking the tour of the All Stars with you!!! SO much fun!!!

The characters' beachwear was so cute. They have to be some of the cutest outfits I've seen them in at WDW. I think you'd like it.

Somehow I knew you'd like the lighting fixtures. ;) I've got more pics to some of the chandillier at the Boardwalk for you coming up soon.

Hey Jenn! Glad you enjoyed catching up. :) Always nice to have you here.

Cape May was really wonderful. You like you and LL would have a great time there. Plus, it's a great excuse for going to the Boardwalk, Yach and Beach, so you really can't loose.

I love the Beach Club and Cape May is my favorite character meal!

Awesome. I think that Buzz and I are Cape May fans now too. :thumbsup2

The month of December is upon us, so if all goes as planned, we’ll be leaving on our Christmas trip in no time! Since we’re only a few weeks away and since we’re somewhat on the subject after just finishing about the Cape May character breakfast in the October report, I thought now might be a good time to go through what characters I’m hoping to find on this next trip:

UP Characters Since we’re not making it to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom and will be missing out on Tiana, Naveen, Thumper and Miss Bunny, it’s looking like the characters from UP over at the Magic of Disney Animation will most likely be the only new characters I’ll find this time around. Out of the three of the characters from the film that I’ve heard come out, I’m most excited about Dug (by far my favorite), so I’m hoping I’ll get to see him.

mikesully-500.jpg

Monsters Inc. Characters The Monsters Inc. crew are on my list for two reasons: 1) I haven’t met them since they moved to their new location near the Backlot Tour exit and 2) I’ve heard that they’ve finally started signing autographs. Apparently, they have a new “time clock” that stamps their autograph onto your book now. Hoping to see both Mike and Sully, but I'd be ok with one of the other.

mater-500.jpg

Cars Characters Haven’t gotten Lightning or Mater’s pictures since the movie first came out, so I think it’s about time to see them again- especially since they have a new set-up back where Al’s Toy Barn use to be that, from what I’ve seen in pictures, looks really cute.

aladdinjasmine500.jpg

Aladdin and Jasmine Out of all the characters that I've heard come out regularly right now at EPCOT, it’s now been the longest since I’ve met these two. I’m secretly hoping it will be a little cool so I’ll be able to get some nice pictures of them in their winter cloaks. It’s just hasn’t been cold enough for them to wear them the last few Decembers!

buzz-500.jpg

Buzz Lightyear and Woody I’m hoping that we’ll be able to check out the new Toy Story meet-and-greet across from Toy Story Mania (another new location for me). If we do, I’m sure my brother Buzz would come along too.

marypoppins-500.jpg

Mary Poppins Mary is the only other character besides Aladdin and Jasmine who come out regularly at World Showcase that I haven’t seen this year. Plus, since it’s the movie’s 45th anniversary it would seem a shame to not at least try to find her. I haven’t had much luck finding characters in the United Kingdom on my last few trips to EPCOT, so hopefully that changes.

princecaspian-500.jpg

Prince Caspian I just got around to watching this movie a few months ago (more than a year after meeting the Caspian character lol) and would love to be able to meet him again- especially since there’s rumors that Disney will be discontinuing the meet-and-greet next year.

More December plans coming soon!

Great list! I really wanted to meet the UP characters on our trip in August but totally forgot about it.

Thanks. Hopefully the UP characters will still be around in April for you.

I really want to see Mary Poppins in her coat. I love her white dress but she is more Mary Poppins to me dressed in her coat for some reason. I think it's the hat. :rotfl2:

I think in general seeing the characters in their capes during the cooler season is really neat. Just gives me the a different look with still being the same character.

I checked the forecast for our trip and it's looking like it will be a little cool, so it looks like there will be some hope that at least Jasmine will be out in her winter cloak, if not others.

Maybe you'll get to see Mary Poppins in her nanny garb when you and Jen are there in January. She usually only wears it when it's cold and since Januray tends to be the coldest part of the year down here you probably have the best chance of the year to see her. Did you hear that she's not out in Town Square at MK anymore? It's sounding like the United Kingdom and 1900 Park Fare are the only places where she makes refular appearences right now.

UGH! I didn't hear that about Mary Poppins. I guess I will have to make a point to see her in the UK Pavilion!

Sorry I had to be the bearer of bad news for you. :( I'm still a little surprised she was cut. Seems like she's been a staple at MK for years and years.
