We are three vegetarians traveling to the World for my son's 5th birthday. 11/19 we plan on doing mvmcp. I am torn between CP and 1900 PF for dinner. Based on food choices alone ( I know my son would LOVE the characters) WHich would you choose and why? Any advice is appreciated! :thumbsup2

I enjoyed the food more at Crystal Palace as a vegetarian. Both options will have enough to eat but the fruit spread was wondeful at Cp. Also with CP you are staying at MK for the party, you dont need to head out to the GF for Park Fare.

I like CP much better then 1900. They have a very nice salad selection, and wonderful pasta dishes.

I enjoyed the food selection much better at CP than 1900 Park Fare (the salad selection at CP was better than 1900 Park Fare) and CP had a wide more food selection than 1900 Park Fare (we left Park Fare ordered room service when we got back to our room...didn't like what they had but we did enjoy the character interaction).
Even my son loved the edemame salad at CP.

DH is a vegetarian. When we went to 1900 PF in June, the vegetarian selection was not as vast as I thought that it would be for him. CP is better and I think that they have a better variety so go with CP if you can.

Enjoy!!

I'm thinking 1900 Park Fare now that Chef TJ is there Wednesday-Saturday. Make a note on your reservation and ask to see the chef. He is wonderful with special dietary needs.:wizard:

Ooops! I'm editing this post to agree with everyone about CP somehow I got it mixed up with Cape May in my head. You'll have no problems at CP. They have plenty of items that vegetarians can eat.

Crystal Palace has an abundance of vegetarian food, and then you are already in the park for the party(Not that GF is far away :-) ) b/c then you can just walk out of the restaurant and party your socks off!

You can look at the menus at allearsnet.com :thumbsup2

You can't really with a buffet. They can't really keep it up to date as the menu is always changing. You can get an idea of what they serve, but no specifics.

I haven't eaten dinner at CP, so I can't comment on their food quality, but I've read great things. I can say, stay far far away from 1900 PF. I'm not a vegetarian, but pretty close. I don't have much taste for meat, I grew up with vegetarian parents. I eat chicken and ground beef and that's about it. Everyone in our party raved about the prime rib and said it was excellent. I don't eat prime rib. Their side dishes were not god at all. Mashed potatoes gluey texture, rice was stuck together, none of the pastas had a good flavor. The only thing I enjoyed was the caesar salad and the french bread. I left very hungry.

My wife enjoyed both as a vegetarian. The signatures suit our plans best as they can always come up with something for her...

Goodluck with your planning!

Hi
I'm veggie and CP is so much better than 1900 PF. 1900 PF used to be really great, but not anymore. They changed the menu, and there wasn't hardly anything for me to eat at 1900 PF. There were only a few salads. Even the pasta had meat in it. The menu on allears.net is the old menu that used to be really good.

We love both! And, have been to both many times! :rotfl: But, I do feel like CP has more variety/options! I do think you would enjoy whichever you pick!

TY all for your advice! I booked CP for lunch on our MVMCP day because we decided to drop our park hoppers in lieu of a savanna view at AKL! :cool1: From what I've read, they're lunch menu is fairly similar to dinner. I am very excited about it since CP was closed when we went in Jan/Feb of this year. I did, however, make ADRs for 1900 PF breakfast on the day we're leaving. I wanted to do a character meal and it was really one of the only ones available (I'm still obsessively trying for CHef Mickey!). It looks like the food isn't very good, but honestly we're not big breakfast eaters...we just want the interaction for our little guy and to see the holiday decorations (we're never been to GF!).

If you do not eat gelatin, you'll want to ask the chef which desserts are made without. When we were there last December, they had changed the source of the baked goods, and most had gelatin in them. For dessert, I could have the fruit, cookies and maybe the ice cream (I can't remember).

I have had better luck with veggie items at PF. Chef Harry walked me through the buffet, to tell me what was veg, and brought me a plate (items not on the buffet) with tabouli, edamame salad, cucumber salad & hummus.

Have a great trip.

It is exactly b/c of this news that I added another table service to our trip (1900 of course). I think he's there Sat-Wed from what I read. People on the veggie/vegan thread says that he's much better than the old chef was with vegetarian/vegan foods...
