3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

Great update! I think we're going to have to try the Animation Academy when we go to Disney (in just SIX more days!! WOO-HOO!).

I don't know where they came up with Maleficent, but I believe Cinderella originally called Gus Octavius. And, I don't think the prince in Snow White had any other name than "The Prince." Hmmmmm . . .

I love that Tink pumpkin. I have a K-Mart only a few blocks away from me, so I'll definitely be paying a visit to see if they have it.

Those trivia questions are interesting! I dunno how they came up with Maleficent...that's a good one!

Aww your Stitch came out so good! Animation Academy is so fun :goodvibes

1. Magnificent plus ??

2. No idea?

3. William, not sure of this and Snow White is my fav princess.

So happy your sisters loved drawing, at DL there are no desks, so you just got to practice for when you go there. How nice that it was a short shower, hope AK stayed dry. Isn't it weird how some parks get rain and some don't on a given day?

Yes we do plan on going to the MVMCP when we go for our short weekend trip.:santa: We will have to find a place to watch the Packer Viking game when we go too:rotfl: Most likely ESPN club. :thumbsup2

I love the pumpkin! I never go to Kmart (Target girl here) but I'm going to have to go to check out what Disney stuff they have!

Your Stitch was really good :thumbsup2 We tried that class once and it only reaffirmed my belief I have zero drawing ability

As for your questions...those are really hard! I don't know any :confused3

Great updates Sarah!

We've always said how we wish the Pizza Planet at Hollywood Studios was like the "real" Pizza Planet!

Thanks for sharing all those photos from Sunnyside Daycare! I wish we'd gone to visit Lotso! I was just reading someone else's TR who met Lotso and was thinking how great it'd be if he smelled like strawberries, too!

I still want to do the Animation Academy, darn it!

I've never heard this one, but is Maleficent a combination of "malevolent" and "magnificent"? It would make sense beccause she is magnificently malevolent.

I don't think the prince in Snow White ever had a name either.

That pumpkin is so cute! Where is there a Kmart 'round here? Can't picture one :confused3 Then again, I'm more of a Target girl anyway

Your Stitch is cute! I can't draw either, but I love the animation academy too.

Yay for the TSM updates! You ladies got a lot accomplished that morning.

Only know #3 His name is "the prince"

The Kmart is out near Mayfair...just a few minutes away. That's the only one I know of now.

I will post the answers to the trivia as soon as I respond to everyone...if anyone else wants to guess they'll be too late! haha

I love that Tink pumpkin!!! :lovestruc I'm going to have to take a little trip to Kmart after work tomorrow to see if I can get one!

Your Stitch drawing is adorable! I'm a bad drawer (? is that even a word? :rotfl:) too, I doubt if I took that class mine would come out that good! I hope I can remember to try it in November!

I hope you were able to find one! I love it. Now I kind of want the Mickey one too.

As far as I know drawer is a word. But now you are making me second-guess myself!

Great job on the Stitch:thumbsup2 Also love the shots of the GMR. Such a beautful facade. Isn't Snow White's prince Prince Charming?

Thanks! Answers are coming up...

Fabulous job on Stitch! We've never done Animation Academy! I'm hoping to do it in Dec or March!

I love that pumpkin! I may have to visit Kmart soon :rolleyes1

Thanks! I am really happy with how he turned out. I kind of want to frame it. I never know what to do with my drawings when we get home! My dad's from April and Claire' Stitch are on the refrigerator. hehe You should definitely try the Animation Academy. It's a great "hidden" gem. :thumbsup2

Yes, you should try it! It's a lot of fun and kind of addicting.

Thank you. I agree, it is a lot of fun. So glad we decided to try it in April. Now it's one of my favorites.

I have the orange Tink pumpkin with the green light! Love it!

haha, nice! I should've known tinkgurl would have the Tink pumpkin! ;)

1. Magnificent plus ??

2. No idea?

It really is strange. That's how it was all last year when went in August. I think that's why we never experienced any rain except for one really bad downpour that only lasted about half an hour. So weird.

Ooh, that will be so fun! I would love to go to MVMCP again. :santa:

haha, we usually go to Target too but Kmart was on our way home. Glad we found that little pumpkin though!

I didn't mean to stump everyone! LOL.

Thanks! You're welcome for the pictures. I wish I had a few more too because it was just too cute.

Hopefully on your next trip you'll make it over there.

I've never heard this one, but is Maleficent a combination of "malevolent" and "magnificent"? It would make sense beccause she is magnificently malevolent.

I don't think the prince in Snow White ever had a name either.

You could be right...I'm going to post the answers now!

Alright, nobody else wants to try the trivia questions? Here are the answers...

1. How did they come up with the name Maleficent (i.e. which words did they combine?)?

Maleficent is a combination of magnificent and malevolent. I think it's funny that my dad is the only one who got it right! And no, I didn't tell him the answer. hehe jwwi gets half a point.

2. What was the name Cinderella originally gave to Gus?

Before calling him Gus, Cinderella wanted to name him Octavius. Good job, GSD4ME!

3. What is the name of the prince in Snow White?

This is a trick question. He does not have a name. He is just referred to as The Prince. This is the only one I knew when we were there! So wisblue and GSD4ME got that one.

In case you are wondering, some of the other princes are Prince Charming (Cinderella) and Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty). Oh yeah, and Eric (the Little Mermaid).

Your Stitch came out really well. I think he looks cuter in profile. Glad to hear you had another great time there.

Love the trivia questions that the CM asked. I knew Gus's name and The Prince's lack of one, but couldn't figure out the words combined to make "Maleficent". I knew malevalent had to be in there but couldn't figure out the other one.

Thanks for all the pictures from Sunnyside Daycare - so cute! It's a shame that Lotso is so mean, he looks so sweet and cuddly!

You did a GREAT job on Stitch! When we drew him it was a frontal view, I like yours much better :thumbsup2

Aww...the Animation Academy sounds like so much fun! :goodvibes Your drawing of Stitch turned out great!:thumbsup2

I haven't been to Kmart in so long.:rolleyes1 I think I'll have to make a trip over there this weekend....that Tink pumpkin is adorable!;)

Great job on your Stitch!!!! We didn't try it this past trip, we just didn't have time, but we have at least 2 days at DHS in March, so it will be done! Maybe I can squeeze in Idol AND the Animation Academy while the boys go watch the cars blow up!

Even though I'm late for your trivia game I played it before I looked at the answers - here is what I thought:

1. Maleficient - Magnificent and - at first I thought "fear" but that wouldn't be right, so then I thought "lady" for the L.

2. NO CLUE!

3. The Prince.

So I got 1.5 points. :rotfl: Not too bad when my life revolves around Cars and Toy Story instead of the princesses! ;)

Good job knowing two of the 3 questions. Well, really 2 1/2 I guess. :thumbsup2

You're welcome. I absolutely loved the queue area for Lotso. It made waiting so much more fun. I especially liked that little board with all the messages of upcoming events at the school.

Thank you!

The Animation Academy is so neat. You really should try to fit it in on your next trip. I love it!

LOL, we usually don't go to Kmart either unless we're on our way home from the mall! But it was a good thing we stopped there!

I think that sounds like a good plan. Both AIE and AA are great attractions. Plus, it's always fun to try something new!

haha, good job with the trivia!

I just got caught up on your TR after finally coming out of my post Disney World depression over a week after coming home. I thought I would share this website that also has Disney pumpkins for people who aren't near a KMart. http://www.lakeside.com/Disney-Lighted-Pumpkins/details.asp?I=PGM&Ntt=disney&N=36&Nao=20&R=896255056PGM4

Ugh, post Disney World depression is the worst. I hope you had a good time though! Thanks for the link with some of the Disney pumpkins. They are cute!

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 cont'd (part 6)
Alright, so this might get kind of long because I want to try and finish up day 2 so I can get to the part everyone's been waiting for (well, maybe not everyone...)...WWOHP! I am so anxious to write about that. But before we talk about Universal we have to finish up with our quick visit to Animal Kingdom!

After our ride on TSM, I had to make one more souvenir stop. The pin store underneath big sorcerer hat! It's not like I really need any more pins, but no trip seems to be complete without getting atleast one or two. I know, I have no self control but I think that's already been established. Lately I've been trying to limit myself though to pins that have some sort of meaning to that particular trip. Before we went, I decided I really wanted to get something related to the summer nightastic stuff or the MSEP. I also wanted to get something Toy Story. I saw on the official Disney pin site they were going to be releasing some TS pins but not until after we left. Boo! But I was actually in luck...they must've released a couple of them early because I did see a couple of the new characters from TS3. I ended up picking out a Buttercup pin. At first I didn't really think that related to our trip, but the more I thought about it, it did because of the new updates to Toy Story Mania. haha I also found a pin of Tinkerbell's float from the MSEP. Perfect!

Satisfied with my purchase, we headed toward the exit. Since Animal Kingdom is never open as late as some of the other parks I suggested we just go right over there. I don't think Emma really wanted to (remember, she is not a huge fan of DAK) but agreed anyway. Plus, I thought it might be fun to just stay there until it closed since we've never done a park closing before.

While we were on the bus I kind of remember still seeing some dark clouds and kept hoping if there was anymore rain it would atleast hold off until later. Within a few minutes we could see the peaks of Expedition Everest and the top of the Tree of Life out in the distance. Woo hoo! I just love the Animal Kingdom. :goodvibes

One of my favorite things about DAK is the entrance/oasis. I don't have any pictures but it's just so peaceful and I love how they have some little animal exhibits. I think part of it is the music too with all the drums and such. I don't get how some people don't like it there.

Before long we could see that majestic tree...
62825_659948700554_20305212_37625763_461570_n.jpg

Just like Cinderella Castle, I don't think I can ever get sick of that first glimpse of the tree.

We checked out the attraction board and most of the attractions were not too bad. Our first stop was the safari so we ventured off to Africa. When we got there, the wait said 20 minutes. Umm, not so much. It was literally a walk-on. There was one girl in front of us who jokingly said how the 20 minutes was for the walk and one of the CMs apologized for the long wait. haha

We had a really great safari driver. She was so enthusiastic and excited about everything which made it more fun. Since it was the middle of the afternoon (and really hot!) I was wondering if we'd see any animals. It seems like most of the safaris we take in the afternoon aren't as good as the ones in the morning when the animals are more active. It started off kind of slow but I was pleasantly surprised with how many animals we saw.

Just a few safari shots...

Nice shot of an elephant behind...I was trying to get the baby which you can just barely make out. It was hiding behind mom's legs. Super cute though. I know I asked when it was born and I am pretty sure she said May or June, which would explain why I don't remember seeing any babies in April.

More giraffes. It was strange because they were right down near the flamingo island which I had never seen before. We had to stop for a little bit while some of those guys crossed the road.

Again, the wait wasn't too bad but we decided to do single riders anyway. There were only a few people in front of us so I think we waited maybe 10 minutes. Much better than RNRC. Great ride as usual. But the gift shop was calling our names. Again. Emma spotted those evil little vinylmation jrs again and decided to get a second one. Seriously, those things are addicting. It's like you can't even go into a store and not stop to look at them. Of course Claire and I got one too. We were lucky that we managed to stay away from getting any doubles. That has to be a first. Here's what we ended up with this time:

After making our purchases it was off to Dinoland!!

cont'd in next post...

Even though Dinosaur freaks us out we can never skip it. We had another super short wait time which was nice.

A couple shots from the queue...

Dr. Seeker quickly briefed us and we were off to meet the dinos. Part of me kept thinking about the Kingdom Keepers books...if you've read them you might know what I'm talking about. If the ride freaks you out, don't read that book. hehe I won't give away what happens if you haven't read them but atleast it didn't happen to us. ;)

We then backtracked to Dinorama where we saw these guys performing.
60342_659948979994_20305212_37625780_4365820_n.jpg

They were Cousin Sylvester and Uncle Lester, relatives to Chester and Hester, the creators of Dinorama. They were trying to get all the plates to spin on those poles without dropping, so we stopped to watch for a little bit. One of the plates did break at the end which was kind of sad but still fun to watch.

Emma wanted to do Primeval Whirl so that was our next stop. It was also our longest wait of the afternoon. That ride always seems to load slowly. But maybe that's just us. :confused3

I suggested we go see the last show of Flights of Wonder, which was quickly shot down by one of my sisters...her response was "birds freak me out." Yeah, well they kind of freak me out too but that show was really cool. I will just have to go see it in March. I know my other sister is willing to see it.

By that time, it wasn't looking like we were going to make it to park closing. Not that we were tired at all but when some people don't really appreciate DAK it wasn't worth staying. Oh well. We did manage to sneak in It's Tough To Be A Bug on the way out.

I was kind of bummed we were only there for a couple of hours but I can't really complain because

1.) We were able to do a lot in that short time

and

2.) Dad and I spent a lot of time at AK in April and we'll be able to visit more when we go in March.

Plus, with our big day ahead of us, we wanted to make sure we were ready to get up early in the morning. It was a pretty low-key evening for us. We grabbed dinner at the Artist Palette and then just hung out at SSR for the night. We all got some sort of treat and I chose one of those delcious little Mickey cakes. Yum.

I also called Mears again to confirm our shuttle pick-up time. Everything was still all set so Universal was a go!

up next: Our Muggle visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Nice update! Your safari pics are great! I love the hippo one :thumbsup2

Your vinylmations are so cute! The Peter Pan is adorable!

You did sure do a lot for just a couple of hours in the AK. I really enjoy that park in the cooler months, but in the summer it is just too hot! One time in January we stayed from open to close and that was a great day (they closed at 5:00.) Can't wait to hear about WWOHP and see how it compared to our visit there.popcorn::
