3 questions about AP/hotel rates

Hi all,

Glad to find other Disney fanatics out there. I have a couple of questions that I figured someone here might be able to answer:

1. If I purchase an annual pass online today will it begin today or on the first day I go into the parks?

2. If I purchase an AP online today, will I then get to book the hotel at the AP rate?

3. Our family is planning on going to Disney sometime in March and would like to stay at either Port Orleans or Pop Century. Any ideas on getting the best deal on the room?

If you purchase online you will get a voucher that you activate when you go to a park. Your year begins when you activate the AP.

2. If I purchase an AP online today, will I then get to book the hotel at the AP rate??

Once you receive the voucher in the mail you can use the numbers on the back to log in to the passholder's website and check the "Best Rates Program" rates to see if there is anything available for your travel dates. Just be aware that purchasing an AP does not guarantee that you can book a room at a discount. Currently there are some rooms available at BRP rates for arrival dates through April 13, 2006.

3. Our family is planning on going to Disney sometime in March and would like to stay at either Port Orleans or Pop Century. Any ideas on getting the best deal on the room?

As far as I am aware, getting a room at the BRP discount is about as good as it gets right now if there is availability for your travel dates. Otherwise AAA discounts might be available (if you are a member of AAA).

Maybe I can help....

1. If you purchase an AP today it will not activate today. You will be mailed a "voucher" that you will exchange for an AP at select areas at Disney.

2. If you purchase your AP today you won't be able to access the AP website until you have your voucher in hand with the voucher number. Once you have it, you can access the AP site and book your rooms. Currently the BRP (best rate plan) for AP holders only goes through April 13th. We're all waiting for further dates so we can book too!

3. This is a trickier question. You can get AAA discounts, AP discounts if you have a voucher or pass, or MYW plan which really isn't a discount on your room. Someone may be able to help you more on this one.
