3 pm parade in June heat?

The June 2015 hours just came out and there is just one MK parade at 3 pm. We were planning to do a nap/break from the parks from about 1-4 each day to avoid the heat (we are not used to Florida heat!) and give the kids a break. Is the parade worth dealing with the heat? I know the kids would love it... Is the MSEP similarly wonderful for little kids?

Thanks in advance for any parade advice for little ones!

Yes, it is a great parade, but make no doubt - it will be 'very' hot!!! If you have a stroller, I suggest having sunshades on it and using clip on fans for the parade, also during the day. The hand held mister fans are also a great addition, as well as keeping plenty water available. Have fun! :goodvibes

We've done that 3pm parade -and it can be HOT.

Bring something to shelter the little ones from the sun. My husband stood in the back with an umbrella over him because it was so intense. Misters, cool drinks, and plenty of sunscreen.

But the MSEP is also fantastic - you won't be disappointed.

I think this may be one of those things you'll just have to play by ear. Wait and see how everyone is holding up that day, before determining if this is something you must do. We went last June and it is soooooo hot! Your kids may be ready to melt down by 3 (and you may be ready to as well!). If everyone is hot and cranky, then NO parade will be worth staying for. You just won't be able to enjoy it. If that were the case, I would just stick with the original plan and take a break. Good luck!

Watching the parades at 3pm in any of the summer months has never bothered me and I never recall seeing the heat bother any one close by to me.

It's a great parade, I would try to see it.

I would play it by ear as a previous poster suggested. Which is necessary in June anyway because of the daily storms which can roll in!

We like to chill in some A/C attractions before it (Hall of the Presidents is a good one) so we are at least starting out cool and somewhat rested.

You can also see it in Frontierland and won't have to get there quite as early. Or try to get a FP+ for it which will cut down on your wait time in the heat as well.

We did the FP+ in late May, which is at the hub in front of the castle. It was soooooo hot. A vendor came by selling ice cups, everyone ran to her. If you do it, find a shady spot.

Sorry to ask but where did you see the park hours? We are going in June too and I keep checking the WDW site with no luck. They only go till the end of May so far. Is there a different site you can see them on.
Thanks!

There are plenty of shady spots along the parade route in Frontier Land. We prefer the area around Country Bear Hall as it doesn't seem to be as crowded as other places.

This June, we happened to cut through from Adventure Land just as the parade was arriving. There's a lightly travelled walkway right behind the magic carpet ride. We got front row viewing in the Country Bear stroller parking area with no waiting.

+1 The FP area is like being inside a broiler. Grabbing some shade is a must!

It's worth doing once, but it will be very hot as others have said. I second finding some shady spots near Frontierland a while before the parade starts, preferably with cold drinks in hand.

We were in the Fast Pass+ area in Oct. and it was soooo hot!
I wasn't sure I would make it.
One little girl was in tears....her father was fanning her and pouring water on her.
It wasn't fun, but the parade was great.

We went in June and waited almost 45 mins for the parade in the heat. Luckliy we were halfway in the shade. Only to find out they were doing the rainy day cavalcade instead! It wasn't raining. I would have loved to know they cancelled the parade instead of waiting all that time. I'm still irritated by it haha

We love those parades but also agree it can be hot. A couple of us in our group finds a nice curb spot hopefully in the shade sitting in front of one of the open doorways that blasts the AC out. A nice little "breeze" while waiting... Good excuse for an ice cream break too. Rest of the family shows up at least 20 minutes before the parade and we all enjoy our "front row" view. The AC eventually gets blocked by the masses but whomever was waiting was "chilled" some for their efforts.

Thanks!

Check out easywdw.com for the preliminary calendar. Josh updates this site using the travel agent calendar. Subject to change for sure, but at least you have an idea.

Strongly agree. Did the FP+ in late July. I thought we were all going to get sun stroke. Avoid the FP+ and find a shaded spot. The parade is wonderful.

Great tips, thanks everyone! Appreciate the FP+ info - will skip that one! I think we'll just play it by ear and see how the kids do in the heat :)

a parade at 3PM in June sounds terrible to me. But if you still want to enjoy it with the kids, then go ahead.
Just make sure you can find a shady spot, apply sun cream, drink lots of water and carry some fans with you. Have fun!

My family has done the parades during the warmer months. I find that if you don't face the sun, you are better off. FOr some reason, if you are facing away those strong afternoon rays are not as hot.
