3 Night Dream - 02-03-11

We are sailing Feb 3... this will be our first cruise and actually our disneymoon! we are heading to the parks first and staying at WL :-)

I just saw it posted on another thread that the next space shuttle launch has just been postponed. It is now scheduled for Feb 3! The day we leave.

We are flying in a day early. I hadn't booked anything for this but was thinking we'd stay near Disney to have more fun options for the day.
Now, I may switch that to Cocoa Beach. I think seeing a shuttle launch in person would be really cool.

I know, the chances that it doesn't get postponed again are slim.
Our last cruise (a 4 day), there was supposed to be a rocket launch on our sea day and shuttle launch the day we docked. Both were postponed.

Here's the details from the NASA site (check the launch time):
Date: Feb 3 *
Mission: STS-133
Launch Vehicle: Space Shuttle Discovery
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center - Launch Pad 39A
Launch Time: 1:34 a.m. EST
STS-133 Description: Space shuttle Discovery will deliver the Express Logistics Carrier-4 (ELC-4), a Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM) and critical spare components to the International Space Station.

That would be awesome ! Our first cruise and launch. Would be nice to watch from my verandah !!

As it stands right now, the shuttle is scheduled for 1:30 AM on the morning that the ship leaves. So we will not be on board yet.
No idea why they'd schedule the lift off at such an early (or late?) hour.

This thread is so quiet ! I wonder if the cruise will be this quiet too

Good evening all! We just booked this cruise today! Late Christmas present for my hubby. Feeling a little guilty because it's just going to be the 2 of us as we are leaving our kiddos at home with grandma.

There were not Palo reservations available today so there must be people on this cruise just not over here on the disboards much? Oh well, we are still very excited.

Nope no Remy either. Although when I booked there was a lot available ! Slowly filling up I guess/ It helps that there is now a $200 OBC when you book this cruise through a TA. sad that I missed that by booking early LOL

That booking credit was what grabbed my eye. It worked out so I could get days off so here we are. We are very excited. I think it is what I needed to get motivated to loose some of these Christmas pounds I have found.

I know i am giving myself until we leave for Disney to drop 10 lbs. 15 would be nice but we leave in less then 40 days so I have to be realistic !

I like the 15 pound idea. If I don't drop that 15 pounds I will be buying new clothes for this trip and that WAS NOT in the budget. Neither was the cruise but that's another story.

So I was starting on Jan 1 but instead I started yesterday. Treadmill here I come.

I am still waiting to get our cabin assignment but we are very excited. I still have a little guilt about the kids so I am working to make spring break a great trip. Not sure where we are going but I need to make it good!

Don't feel guilty - you need some adult time too! I think I am going to plan a nice kid free long weekend in 2012 for our 5th wedding anniversary.

This is the first cruise that we've taken with the kids in awhile! ;) Do NOT feel guilty!!!

And I'm game for losing 15 pounds before Feb 3rd!!

Just got off the treadmill. My hubby and I are planning to run our 1st half marathon in April. I really have never thought I wanted too and then at work one day I said something about it. They all laughed and said I would never do it! So you know the rest of the story. Here I am starting to train. Crazy really since I can't even run a mile without stopping.

I am working on a 6 week training program to be able to run a 5K. My goal is to do the Castaway Cay 5K! Then I will have about 12 weeks to keep increasing my distance before the 1/2 marathon. The 1/2 that we are doing allowers walkers so as long as I can finish in 4 hours we are good to go.

I am still in the planning phase but I think it will work out okay. Wednesday is my off day and that's the day we will be driving. I will run/walk on Thursday and then have Friday off and do the 5K on Saturday!

I am hoping this will help me get those 15 pounds off by the cruise. If you think about it that's 3 pounds a week. We can do this.

Happy New Year everyone.

Good luck with your training, Mindibellcm! I'm also in training for my third half marathon, the Princess Half Marathon, at WDW at the end of February.

I'm a walker, not a runner, and completed both the Princess and Disneyland half marathons last year.

I have two great words of advice for you: Body Glide
You'll thank me!

Thanks for the tip.

Funny thing, I have always said if I ever ran a marathon it would have to be one at Disney World. We were at DW in October when there was a 1/2 marathon going on and a Halloween 5K. I think that was when I started talking about it. I am hoping that maybe next year I will do one at Disney World. Let's see if I am able to complete this one.

How fast do you walk? I can't walk fast. It hurts my shins and I end up jogging.

Try raising the incline - then you will be targeting the backs of your legs rather than the front. Walking on a level treadmill hurts my shins too.

I may try that. I am at 1.5 incline now because that's the lowest our treadmill goes. I may try raising it a bit.

The half marathon I am doing also has a kids marathon where the kids run 25.2 miles at home over the next 4 months. Then they get to run the last mile on the actual course and cross the same finish line as the marathon participants. My 2 little ones are signing up for this!!!
