3 Grannies, Disney Dancing & Deviltry! Oh, my!!

Have to agree with you for all of Mr Elous's cracks I count him as aspecial friend !!:wave2: Christine we both know the Dis Community is the cheapest therapy around !! I do not know what I would do without you all !! After the day I had , I shared it and as I wrote it some joy and humor crept in and I think I was able to convey the trajedy with a little comedy and I know tomorrow the comedy and the joy will far outweight the trajedy !!!:goodvibes
Rosie, you know I count you as one of my very dear friends here on the DIS! I'm sure some people read your thread, and maybe my comments, and think I am a real meanie to you, but like me I know how much you appreciate a good laugh, even at our own expense......... :thumbsup2

DIS being the cheapest therapy............what a great analysis and viewpoint! :goodvibes

My goodness! I'm not supposed to get teary reading the Grannie escapades!! You are all the best of the best. Thank you so much for your kind words and humor! It is true about DISers - I agree some of the nicest people anywhere are right here on the DIS. For years I read PTRs and TRs but did not post since I wasn't part of the regular group and felt shy about jumping In. Finally sunk in that until we post, we're not going to get to know one another...i had already come to know Pat and Marv from Rosie's threads and felt you were friends....you just didn't know it! :rotfl:

Karin, you already know I count you as a very dear friend.:goodvibes

Pat, thanks for the heads up about CLT not being too far - looks like driving there may become the usual. Jetblue has better fares to Boston out of CLT as well. It is north of the city? I'm sorry SW also pulled out of Greenville.

Oh, yes, thanks about checking on Tuesday! I haven't been on top of it the last few trips, so it is a good reminder. :thumbsup2 It used to be some of the best and short lived fares would be released at midnight from Tues into Wed for many airlines.

Rosie, read your other thread - what a day yesterday! Thankful you are okay! How's that scratch?

Straight down 85 to 485 West or outer loop? The airport is on the west side and pretty easy to get to from the hwy- at least easier than Sp mall.

When SW started service in the area, it was only out of Greenville. That an other 1-1/2 hours SW from Charlotte. Not a bad drive unless you are low on gas ( sorry TR joke there) Greenville is nice and small. I liked that.

With SW and AirTran merging they took over the gate at Charlotte and it looks like Greenville will stop direct service to MCO. :worried:

I figure having to go out of Charlotte will not save me anytime with having to park and get a shuttle and the longer security lines but I drove to Greenville to fly SW and avoid luggage fees. :goodvibes With SW now there I may find myself flying back out of Charlotte. :)

Only thing about Charlotte now is construction in the terminal. Not sure how that impacts since I have stayed away but hopefully when that is all done things will be smoother security wise. After 9/11 and the new security situation, the Airport was not really built that way. Hopefully this will fix that.

Depending on flight times you may find some nice park and ride options. Park and stay at a nearby hotel and leave there. May offset the parking fees.

Got the inside joke...:rotfl: read your TR.:thumbsup2 I literally laughed out loud reading some of what you wrote! ::yes::

Thanks for the directions. I'm a city gal and do not drive - fortunately my DD is happy to drive me to the airport - which is why I feel bad both RDU and CLT are a distance. We had Frontier flying non-stop out of Greensboro to MCO for a few months on certain days - in April Frontier is moving to RDU. Allegiant is still here, but only flies into Sanford from here. They do fly into MCO from several cities now, but it hasn't changed from GSO yet - limited flights but could have managed at least one way and be closer to home. No buses from Sanford and cost of a town car from there could feed me for a week!

Constructions and airports - usually a lot of fun. ;) Of course, there was almost always construction going on in Boston at Logan. RDU is nice because it has been easy to avoid the construction and the smaller airport is great. I imagine Greenville is much the same?

That's too bad that you could only get direct flights. In airline lingo, direct flights have at least one stop - when I checked SW has non-stop to MCO and JetBlue has non-stops into Boston, so I was happy. If you only had direct our of Greenville at least it will be nice to go nonstop now. :)

Christine and Rosie- We all come here to share the good , bad and sometimes ugly....
 all around today for those having a rough time of it.

Very Special friends here on the DIS. ::yes::

Christine - SW also stopped direct service from Greenville to Orlando. They did start direct service from Charlotte. At first the prices were lower but watch those sales. Check every Tuesday if you have to and the ride should not be any worse that to RDU...

Rosie- I said on your thread but FULL MOON!!!! :rolleyes1

Thanks Pat !! In my field days like that occur , not to often but they happen!!! They can be disastrous if the staff don't know how to react and quickly !! You would have been impressed with the speed of this ol' grannie !! :rotfl2:

(I meant the travelers as I know the escorts are screened.)

I am not telling my dream because I don't want it to come true....but imagine a Grannie holding on to 3 sets of feet hanging on for dear life and people on the verandas below yelling, "we can catch them!!" :rolleyes1

I am going to miss this place...even though I haven't been there since the menu changed a few years ago and the incredibly yummy BBQ - it was so good and perfect for sharing. Sitting at a window table looking over the water was perfect.

Excerpt from interview with Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, in the Orlando Sentinel, about the new Disney Springs project.

Although the announcement lacked specifics about additions, there was a clear subtraction: Cap'n Jack's Restaurant, which has been at the end of a Marketplace dock for decades.

"I think Cap'n Jack's has a limited time to go and be enjoyed," Staggs said — but a closing date has not been set, he said.

There has not been an official announcement, however the writing is on the wall. Let's face it, after the DDP plan came out and Lobster Tails were removed from the menu, the restaurant has fallen in quantity, quality and popularity.

Got the inside joke...:rotfl: read your TR.:thumbsup2 I literally laughed out loud reading some of what you wrote! ::yes::

That was the most stressful trip to the airport I have ever had and that includes and "Amazing Race" dash in Charlotte when a flight got delayed and I switched flights at the last second only to be stuck in O'hare for the rest of the day.

I think I flew into Greensboro once eons ago with peoples express maybe????
Have never made the jaunt to RDU. :confused3

About 14 gates one terminal and no lines :thumbsup2

I guess I mean Non-stop
The connections now are Nashville, Baltimore and Midway??? How is Midway an option. Even Baltimore is a stretch.

I wouldn't worry too much about that dream Christine. It was probably just Rosie trying to get the attention of three travelers when humor and sitting them on the back seat of a van didn't resolve the issues................ :upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow :rotfl:

Okay, we all know Rosie would never do such a thing, especially when she can just threaten them with Wooden Marv.............. :rolleyes1

Hey, what happened to my avatar?? I see a blurred image that looks a printer? Pat's is weird too!

Hmmm...what's happening on the Dis tonight! Creepy...
