3 Generations! 2 Resorts! 10 Days! DxDp! 3000 Pictures! - Saying Good-Bye!

FW is definetely a good place to just relax! Don't get me wrong, I really love the secludedness of it and I loved all the times we stayed there but I am the reason we dont stay there any more:eek: Im not really a relaxer, well I guess I like to relax but not in normal ways.Im not someone would can just sit around and do nothing for long periods of time so after awhile (11 trips:lmao:) FW became alittle boring because it got to the point where everyone just wanted to relax there and I didnt. I prefer being in places like SSR where DTD is right there with so much to do.

I know what you mean about "relax"!! Since you've read my TR, you know that we are up at the crack of dawn and hitting rope drop. Our summer trips are never relaxed...it takes us a few days to recoup when we return. Last October, the short trip was strictly for 'relaxing'...and was soooo nice. But then my definition of relax is probably similar to yours;) :rotfl: And you sound like my DH....he can't sit for long periods of time either...he's constantly moving. Thanks again for your honesty about the resorts.

Heather,

I have a silly DxDP question for you: Are the sushi items at the CA Grill now considered main courses or are some of them still considered appetizers? The AllEars menu has them listed under "sushi" and the DIS menu has them listed under "main courses":confused3

Years ago when we last did the DDP, the sushi were apps., but now I'm wondering, since they've cheapened the plan entitlements, have they also taken away the sushi as apps?

TIA!

ETA: I think I've found the answer to my question. It seems that most of the CAG sushi are apps., but a couple are considered main courses. Sorry to have bothered you with this, Heather.

I loved all your pics and the review of PL. They all seemed to have a great time. Your dad just cracked me up. It looked like he might have enjoyed it the most.;)

I think I mentioned before that our next trip will be with my parents. I was showing them your report of PL. My dad thought this was so cool and said he definitely wants to do that with the boys when we go and offered to pay for it too.:rolleyes1 I wasnt turning that down.:lmao: Anyway I was then mentioning it to dh when we got home and he gave me the look. So apparently he is too cool for school too. It must have something to do with the age. Im guessing for the coolness factor you have to be under the age of 12 or over the age of 50.:lmao: Anyway we wont be going for 2 years or so but I am hoping they dont get rid of this anytime soon. This will be a must do on our list.

Its funny your report captivated me because of they stay at FW and your lovely pics but I didnt realize I would get such great tips and ideas for our next trip. I wasnt even really thinking about our trip at the time. We will have 3 generations going too. So thank you so much I am loving your report and learning so much from it at the same time.:thumbsup2

Ha! You already found the answer! DH and I were discussing this on our way to church this morning:rolleyes:....can we ever get away from Disney discussions:laughing: We were trying to remember what the waitress told us. I had a roll last year that was huge!! I should have had it for the main course, but used it as an app...way too much food. Bill said that he thought the sushi for 2 did not count as an app...can't remember, though..

Thanks! He did have a blast!! Probably more-so than the kids:rotfl:

:lmao:That's funny!!! I never have thought about the age thing!!...think you're correct in saying that. DH will crack up laughing when he reads it! I have a sneaky suspicion that PL is there to stay, for sure.:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Glad I could help. It will be such a great experience for your kids & their grandparents...adds a whole other element to a trip. I wouldn't give anything for the memories we've made with 3 generations at WDW. And listen...whether you're going to Disney next month or 2 years from now, you can never plan too much! Planning is part of the fun and anticipation, right?!!

Heather

Hi! I just read all of your posts up to now and looks like you and your family had an amazing time!! My husband and I actually went to WDW at the same time for our honeymoon (stayed at BWV) so if you saw a couple with the Mickey groom and bride hats, that may have been us!! Can't wait to read more!

I would LOVE to do this but no one else in my family ever wants to. They apparently feel that sleep is more important:rolleyes: My theory is your only at disney a few times a year if that many so why bother to sleep that much! You have to be up and cram as much disney time in as possible! ;)

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! Congratulations on you wedding...how exciting to stay at WDW on your Honeymoon. My sister and BIL did the same thing years ago at the GF. No kidding...y'all were there the same time we were??!! We did see several people with the bride & groom hats...could have been you!

I have a feeling that when my children are all teenagers, the whole 'rope drop' thing won't be quite as appealing...'sleep' will be a more important factor of the trip:rolleyes:...but until then...I'll drag them out of bed:laughing:

Phew! Finally all caught up. Goodness Heather, you are the updating Queen. And in addition to the quick postings, your photos are also meticulously edited to boot! :worship: I don't know how you do it girl!

Your photos of CG are making my mouth water!!! I LOVE it there!

I completely agree with you about the fireworks view...Poly tops it, hands down! Absolutely no contest. ;) In fact, I find the CG fireworks seating highly overrated. I have seen the fireworks from the CG observation deck, the 4th floor observatory deck, and from the 10th floor Tower private balconies, and in all cases the view and atmosphere doesn't even compare to the beach at the Poly.

Love all the family photos you were able to get while waiting for your table at CP. They turned out wonderful!:goodvibes What a great use of time that was!;) (I just wish my family was as cooperative as your when it comes to taking photos.)

What wonderful photos of your dad and the kiddos at the PL. Your kids will never forget these experiences, which I am sure isn't lost on your Dad. It is a great reminder that all of us "Too Cool for School" 30-and-40-somethings would be wise to remember....myself included.;)

I am absolutely adoring your TR, and eagerly awaiting the next installment!:goodvibes

Magic Kingdom Afternoon
Day 5

After the great adventure at the PL, we had plenty of time for more rides….before heading to FW for the Hoop-Dee-Do Revue. Usually, we return to the resort in the afternoons for a quick swim in the pool, but it didn’t make sense because our ressie time for HDDR was 5pm. And needless to say, after paying for the PL, we were NOT going swimming.

MK did have lots of people, but didn’t seem overly crowded…I’ve been when it’s much, much worse. Wait times were not bad at all. The very first thing we HAD to do was ride Pirates of the Caribbean…for obvious reasonspirate:

We grabbed FPs earlier for….

This is probably one of our favorite rides or at least in the top 5…he kids love it!!! DH and Pop were flashing pictures and trying to get videos!

IMG_5812.gif

And if you notice in the picture below, Pop has camera in hand trying to get that awesome shot.

And this melody….

This song sticks in your mind for hours…or I should say months! I’m singing as I type!! Kinda like It’s a Small World!

And who can resist a chocolate covered banana??!!! Not us! It’s one of those treats that I seek out at each park! I wish they had them at the resorts.

IMG_5822.jpg

Don’t laugh…but this ride is in my favorite top 5!! Oh...did I already say that once...well...Seriously…it always has been. DH laughs at me…kinda like he laughs at me when I talk about the Electric Water Pageant…I love that, too…oldies, but goodies, right?

The Carousel of Progress line was looking pretty empty (shocker, right?!) If this ride is ever packed, then it will have to be standing room only at MK! Jesse saw Buzz Lightyear and wanted no part of the CoP…so Pop and MaHopie stood in line with him to get pictures.

We rode several other rides, but didn’t want to bore you with that! It was time to head over to FW for the HDDR. The kids were getting a bit tired, but I had a feeling that they would take a brief nap in the stroller on the way to the boats….and guess what…I was right!

DSC_3716.jpg

The boat over to FW is very convenient, but usually fairly packed…it’s a nice ride over, too. Of course you have to break the stroller down to get on….OR… you don’t have to and you can run over people’s feet while trying to push the stroller down the aisle, then take up extra seats and basically get in everyone’s way :rolleyes1. Ok….that was my one rant for the TR. There were a ton of people waiting in line, and these 2 families had double strollers that they basically refused to fold up, therefore causing chaos on the boat because we, and others, had to move for them…while they literally rolled over people’s feet. It beat all I had ever seen….okay…enough of that…after everyone was situated, the boat ride over to the FW was super relaxing:thumbsup2

One of my favorite resorts!!!...of course I say that about all the resorts we’ve tried…well, except for ASMo…not that I hated it…just not my favorite.

This site still baffles me to no end! Every time I ride by, I wonder what Disney is thinking??!! If you ever get a chance to take the ‘ever so fast’ SeaRaycers, make sure you ride up close…it always reminds me of a ghost town…completely abandoned. And look over at Discovery Island, too….same thing….deserted bird cages and docks. I have very fond memories of River Country, and would actually like to traipse through there and look around…guess that WON’T happen.

Stay tuned…next up…..

We're out of school right now, so I have plenty of time!! Once school starts back, it will slow down...so trying to get lots done now.

I remember your TR last year with the picture deal;)...but look how good they turned out!!!! It looked as if there were no issues at all!!!

Thanks! I'll be looking forward to yours in a couple of months...get lots of great shots from SSR...I'm curious;)

Hey Heather....unfortunately we won't be at SSR this trip coming up in October. We are booked into OKW. Given the DVC purchase, I thought I might try to venture over there to check it out, as I have never been. However, the other side of me wants to wait until my first visit so I can see it fresh at that time. So we shall see...

Great update as usual! I am excited to see and hear about Hoop-dee-doo, that is the only dinner show we haven't done yet and I'm so curious about what you think!:goodvibes

Another great update!

Can't wait for the next one since I am another one who has never been to the Hoop De Doo (yes I know it is unbelievable since we have been to FW so many times!).

I'm finally caught up on your updates! Great, great pictures from the Pirates League! I wish I had known that 3 year olds could do it, I would've let Reid do it when we went in May. For some reason, I assumed that the kids had to be 4. Oh well, guess that's what I get for assuming! Sounds like y'all really had a fun-filled day in MK! Can't wait to hear about HDDR...that's the one dinner show we have yet to experience.

Your pictures at the Magic Kingdom look great.

Thanks, y'all! I'm hoping to have the next post done tomorrow...while we're out of school, I've got to get as much done as possible;)

Disneylovin24!! No HDDR?!

Your dad grew a beard just for Pirate's League?? That is so sweet! :goodvibes. I mean that is hard core, argh! pirate: ;)

Love all the pictures and definitely vote for your sending out a Halloween card. Or even pirates must celebrate Christmas too, right? :confused3

By the way, it definitely is a small, small world. I live maybe 15 min from your sister's town in CT!

Hope the stroller naps do the trick and everyone is ready for a fun dinner! :thumbsup2

Yeah....our oldest son thought it was the best!!! The kids loved it! And it does add to the whole pirate experience:laughing:

I'm seriously thinking about sending out a Halloween card...I mean why not?? The pictures already done...just have to make copies at Wal-Greens...think I will:thumbsup2

You're kidding??!! Small world!! That's funny. She really loves it there. DS10 just returned a couple of weeks ago from visiting them. They took him to Boston for the day, to a science museum...he had a big time....says he's going back next year so they can take him to NY. They use to live in Old Weathersfield, then bought a house in Glastonbury a few years back.

Hope the stroller naps do the trick and everyone is ready for a fun dinner! :thumbsup2

great update. I was laughing because in these last few pics pop reminds me of a guy on a harley more so than a pirate. He looks so cool. I have to wonder though if he got seperated from the kids if others would think that was all real. It looks so real with his little bit of grey coming through in his beard.:lmao:

I cant wait to hear about your time at hoop de doo. I was there years ago with my friends I was only 17yr. My friend got picked to be the can can girl. We had a table right at the stage. It was a great time. I hope you all loved it too. Im interested to hear how your kids liked it because once again this is something i want to do next time......we may just mimic your entire trip. :lmao: JK

This is our second time at HDDR...went on our trip last year.
